RICKY FUCKIN' POWERS! I can feel it all the way down in my plums.
So hard to keep up
Never heard of him
Wish him luck, but we're talking about a kid 2 NSD's away.

NSD 2016 is a long way off, but this still stings a little, not because I don't think we'll get our share of stud receivers, but because it appears MSU is now in on more national recruits than ever before. They've gotten lucky with some 2 and 3 stars, don't want to think about them if they start getting talent closer to what we get.
Chambers is exactly the type of player we are looking for, wish him luck no matter where he goes, except for one weekend a year.
Burbridge was a very high level recruit but in state guy - most of their high level guys outside Michigan (not named Bullough) have been on the defense so this is definitely a change for them on the offense. They also got the #4 RB in the 2015 class in Larry Scott out of OH. Their defense class last year had some really good players on it even excluding Malik but that it understandable considering how they play defense annually.
Until Dantonio goes they are here to stay unfortunately. Anyone thinking otherwise is in the same boat as those who think UM basketball is going to permanently regress under Beilein. Doesn't mean 11 win seasons all the time - in fact I think they take a step back in 2015 with their schedule finally becoming tough - but they are going to be hovering around double digit wins year in and year out, and for a program where 8 used to be considered a reason to burn a couch it's a big change. Their DL haul in the 2014 class was "OSU" like in talent so they are not going anywhere soon.
The real question at this point is how they transition to their next coach . Will they pull a very rare Wisconsin post Alvarez and remain at this level under Narduzzi (who I assume will leave for a few years to be a HC only to return to MSU a hero as the next coach) or will they follow the pattern of countless ho hum programs that ascend under 1 coach only to return to their normal level once that coach retires. But for the here and now MSU is not going away. I could care less about beating them in recruiting battles but I'm so damn sick of the on field punking of us.
But as long as they're kicking our ass in football every year, we should expect more of this. To be honest, with the way Dantonio and Co. develop players, I'm afraid to see what they can do when they get their hands on really elite talent, and not the "leftovers" they've been getting every year prior.
If you look back at their 2010-2011 recruiting classes it is pretty remarkable what they have done. I think those classes were like 35-40 nationally but they got a massive haul of major players and quite a few are sniffing the NFL or will be. So kudos to (a) great talent assessment out of HS and (b) development in college. It is very Beilein like. Hence the success of last year's team and the high regard of 2014s team. Their 2012 class right now doesnt look to be quite at that level but the early returns on te 2013 likewise look promising for them.
But when I put their 2010 and 2011s classes up side by side with ours it is a stark contrast in achievement. And you can see it on the field. 2012 is when we began recruiting at "A" level supposedly so now it's up to coaching these kids up.
As for 'how much better they can do with elite recruits' I am not that worried about it - I mean they were #3 with the lower level recruits so not much more higher to go. I see a very good year for Sparty in 2014 but the defense of 2013 was so lights out it is going to be difficult to repeat. It is reinforcing to me how much of a game changer it is to have elite CBs -- if you have that (and let them be "handsy") it really changes the whole complexion of your defense. Seattle does it the same way.
Anyhow strange days for for those of us over 30 who remember a time Sparty was a complete joke 7 out of every 10 years and at best "good" the other 3 years. Unfortunately people under 25 or so think this is "normal" and since Dantonio is going to be around another 5-7 years a lot more kids are going to take MSU very seriously.
I can understand how they are beating us in recruits, head-to-head they've owned us recently and embarrassed us in the process. But how are they beating out the Alabamas, Ohgios and Auburns?! I think they must be paying guys.

I mean at least with OSU there was so damn much documentation you could have reached in a huge pile and pulled out something not smelling quite right. Although they are documente as the conference's al time most sanctioned program, that has nothing to do with what is going on right now. They are just beating us similar to how the series started. That changed, bb changed, and so too will fb get back to the norm. How can I be so sure, you might ask. History is always the greatest barometers and why the same ten teams listed as all-time greatest programs are the same ten as was listed..........Damn!!! been a long time, 55 years ago.
Their schedule was very favorable last year - 85th in the country. If they had played anyone with a heartbeat their first 2 games insstead of awful Western MI or USF they probably would have lost 1 if not both - their offense was that putrid early. UM was not very good last year, Nebraska was ok but without Martinez and their win at Iowa was probably their 3rd best win of the year. This year it gets a bit tougher in conf (I am excluding oregon which wont matter for conference) but not a major step up - they play OSU UM NEB all at home. Those are their 3 big ones - only a trip to Happy Valley late is tough and I am going by reputation - PSU is like UM right now, more of a brand than an elite team. But in 2015 they face the same thing we face in 2014 and 2016 - both OSU and UM on the road. So every other year they will have their top division rivals on the road just like we have but theirs will be even years and ours odd. Whatever the case they are not going away anytime soon. I do hope to see more 8 win seasons however than these 11 win seasons.
Agree with everything, but I think this years schedule is about easier than last years (excluding Oregon). We played @NEB, vs UM, and neutral field against OSU. This year we get all 3 at home, including 2 of them at night.
Also, if we make it to the B1GCG again we'll face an easier opponent than 2013 OSU (most likely).
With the commitment of Brian Cole and Michigan being in the top group for a bunch of top WR in the 2016 class I can't get too down. Cameron Chambers looks like he's a good wideout and best of luck to him. As many have already said NSD is two years away so i'm sure with a good season from UM, this kid will may have to reconsider.
Something i've been thinking about though, does DeWeaver look to have the same pull/recruiting touch with the 2016 class like the past 3 QB recruits? (Morris, Speight, Malzone)
That we aren't a Nike school. Plus, after we win in east lansing this year, they'll be fools dropping in our laps left and right.
This hurts. It really hurts. We are batting .500 against Sparty at best. Historically speaking, that is really bad. We have to destroy them in recruiting to have a prayer on the field and we aren't.
It's OK, Drizzy will be 10 times better than this guy!
Has anybody seen the Snake Oil.
