PFF 2024 Mock---no M in the 1st Round
PFF "Way Too Early" 2024 Mock Draft has no Michigan players in the 1st Round. Though on their "Big Board" ranking, done with their grading system not where they think the player will be Drafted, they have Blake Corum at #24.
In their Mock they have an embarrassment of riches going to Arizona at #1 and #2, Caleb Williams and Marvin Harrison Jr.

On the Big Board they have six Michigan players in the Top 100, Corum, Zinter, McCarthy, Edwards, Nugent, and Colson. But again, this is the PFF ranking, not where they think the player will be Drafted.

Time may tell that Blake Corum belongs Drafted in the 1st Round. Some are even saying Junior Colson may go in the 1st.

That’s because there will be 7 Buckeyes in the 1st round.
The Sporting News one has 8 OSU guys in the first round! Including TreVeyon Henderson, but neither Michigan running back.
Seems like lazy writing to me, hopefully one more year of being much better convinces people to stop automatically assuming this stuff about Ohio State

For those who were confused, like me, Nugent is Drake Nugent, the recent grad transfer from Stanford. I felt awful for not knowing the name of a kid who has been on the team for two years, until I Googled it.

Hence the "way too early". We will have a minimum two... JJ and Jenkins, if JJ leaves. I would imagine minn, Detroit, Dallas, Tampa, Washington, jets, Seattle, would want JJ.
And next year we might break the record for most players drafted in a single year.

It does demonstrate how much Harbs has been doing so much more with less. That said, if we want to stay elite and get to a national title, we need more elite talent.
Somewhat disagree. Michigan has elite young talent.
McCarthy, Edwards, Loveland, Graham, Moore, possibly Hausmann, and Johnson are guys who could easily be 1st round draft picks.
What it says is to THIS point, Harbaugh has been winning with solid, but not top end talent. And when he's had 1st round talent (Peppers, Gary, Hutchinson...they've won, he's just never had enough 1st round talent). That has already changed...
Michigan has it, and it's the reason Michigan has turned the corner, but it's been two years. Think I'm lying? Close your eyes and take those guys off the team, where are we? Those are impact players and they're only just now coming into their own.
More than half that list isn't even draft eligible.
Wanna get even more depressed? Close your eyes again and put that group that I listed on the 2016 or 2018 teams. CFP, no question. Even that group as freshman and sophomores.
Michigan has elite talent right now, and we've had it (just not nearly enough). Of course they have to get more (because, duh), but we're right there and right now.
If this year goes as we hope/expect...and guys decide to come back, 5 guys that I listed will probably be on that same chart next year. We're close.
This has to mean they know all our juniors will stay an extra year.
I don't know about the 1st round, but if they have the year that I hope/expect...
JJ, Corum, Zinter, Jenkins, and Colson should all be gone in the first two days. Possibly Henderson.
Johnson, Wilson (if he leaves), Zinter, Nugent, McGregor, Barrett, Sainristil + Paige, Moore, and Harrell if they leave would all be drafted, IMO.
Again, not as of today. If they have the year I hope/expect.
Is Michigan going to have 16 guys get drafted? No. Because a good handful of guys will be the new NIL group that come back to improve their stock (McGregor, Colson, Wilson, Paige, Moore, Harrell)
If I was an NFL GM, I would surely be inclined to draft Kool-Aid McKinstry. Wouldn’t even need to see film.
Yes, beware the Kool-Aid
The 49er GM drank that Trey Lance Kool-Aid and is now working to trade it away.
damn, but i’m sick of hearing about the freaking nfl draft. just a bunch of blowhards blowing hard at each other. fire the entire enterprise into the sun.
You okay?
2024 NFL Draft.....waaaaaaaaayyyyy too early. Let 'em all play football this upcoming season and see where the chips fall.
Or - hear me out here- fire matty blue into the Sun, and the rest of us can go on enjoying the draft!
Howabout that?!
if i thought going to the sun might help me avoid mock draft discussions ii might even consider it myself. but i suspect there are blowhards there, too.
You're coming off a bit like you might be one of them 🤷♂️
I appreciate PFF's respect for Corum, but swapping him and Donovan Edwards is probably more accurate based on size and play-style.
clearly know nothing about jenkins
FWIW, PFF got 15 of 31 right this year. (That is, 15 of the projected first-rounders in last year’s way-too-early piece went in the 1st.)
Four of those were written in stone (Young, Stroud, Anderson and Carter), so aside from the absolute top-end guys like Caleb Williams and Marvin Harrison, there figures to be a lot of turnover.
If Corum profiled as a 1st rounder, he’d have been in this year’s draft. McCarthy is the most interesting case. I don’t see him being talked up right now up as a 1st round talent but I’m sure, with his arm and mobility, he can change that with a strong 2023. The good news is that if they still don’t see him as a 1st rounder by next year, he probably stays for his senior season.
Exactly what I was about to comment before seeing yours Oracle!
I don't know how they figure JJ won't be a 1st rounder, but I think he might stay if he's not.
That's why s/he is the Oracle
I may be in the minority but I don't know why Marvin Harrison is thought of as the best OSU WR ever. He is good but I'd take JSN over him. Maybe that's because Harrison didn't do anything against Michigan.
I think a lot of it is the fact he had a great freshman year and, unlike OSU QBs, most OSU WRs who look good in this offense turn out to be really good pros. I don't know if he's the best in OSU history but he does seem to be a cut above even the really good WRs they have had. JSN being out last year did pump his stock up, though, since I figure they'd have split more receptions.
He's 6'4" with top end speed, a ridiculous catch radius, and great hands. He is primed for a HOF NFL career. I'm not sure how you see him as 'good.'
He's a generational talent- think Randy Moss, Calvin Johnson, etc. Wish he didn't play for OSU, but would love to have him on my NFL team.
idk He seems like a top end 1st round talent but JSN was ridiculous in 2021 both against us and in the Rose Bowl. If Harrison was a generational talent, how did Michigan shut him down? Also, JSN had about 400 more receiving yards than Harrison in his full 2021 season.
Harrison had 7 for 120 and a TD against Michigan. JSN had 11 for 127 and 0 TDs. Not sure what you're talking about.
HAHAHAHAHA! Fuel for the fire. ESPN FPI 6th. OK. Perennial culturally lead, chips on shoulder, coached up hungrie's versus the vaunted mercenaries mining below NIL. I like UM's odds.
Nothing like some Sunday afternoon day drinking huh
You should stop then. Seems to affect comprehension.
WHY?
what does this even mean?
"In their Mock they have an embarrassment of riches going to Arizona at #1 and #2, Caleb Williams and Marvin Harrison Jr."
I’ll tell you right now blake corums not a first round pick and that’s ok.
running backs rarely go in the first, and he’s just an average receiver and has some size concerns moving up. But we shouldn’t let that impact the fact he’s an amazing, heisman trophy contending college player that’ll still probably play 5-7 years in the NFL at a good level
Yep Houston better hope Will Anderson is a Hall of Fame player ,or that trade will end up being one of the worst of all time .

Really? A 2024 mock draft in April 2023 is somewhere between useless and dumb.
Logged in to down vote..WOW
People on here are ridiculous. It's April and there's not much to talk about with UM sports but god forbid you post about the 2024 draft.
That being said, I think JJ has a good shot of being QB3 behind Williams and Maye (if not higher), which would likely make him a 1st round pick. But I hope he stays for his 4th year, and hope he stays hungry to improve, so I kinda like that he's not being mocked in the 1st yet.
I don't think Corum has any chance at being a 1st rounder. Edwards has a bit more of a chance with his receiving ability. I'm not too high on Colson really, so I'm surprised to even see him in the conversation.
Outside of JJ, I'd say Jenkins, Zinter, and Henderson seem like guys that could end up in the 1st.
-Harrison Jr. like it or not is probably the closest thing to a "Lock" WR pick since Jamar Chase. Egbuka is great, but 8 is too high.
-Corum is a tougher back than Treyveon and is a system better designed to highlight his talents. I think this mock has a lot of residual bias due to HS star rankings from 2-3 years ago.
-JT Tuimoliau is going to go before 20. Watch when OSU played PSU.
The rest of the OSU "1st Rounders" make little sense. Burke got burned frequently and has had injury issues. Michael Hall is a freak athlete but has had conditioning issues.
