Sunday men’s tournament open thread
Fighting Sister Jean’s looking good early against Illinois!
Too bad for Jarreau he looks to be in pain. Rutgers is playing well. Could very well pull this off.
Rutgers is getting hosed by the refs
I like this Rutgers team. Especially Young. Go RU!!
Is that Booger McFarland calling the Rutgers game?
Maybe not
Nope. Back to the slopes for you!
Rutgers gets no calls when driving. Houston gets every call when driving.
Got to go quickly
No matter what happens with the rest of this tourney, it's been fuckin' bonkers thus far.
Rutgers doing everything they can to choke this game away. Lots of missed layups.
Rutgers has one last chance to win the game. I figure the odds are about zero.
Big time choke.
I suspect voters next season may hold some reserve with making the B10 teams take up the top 10 in rankings. Epic chokes this tournament.
Rutgers, No!
And there were three.
Poor damn Rutgers
If you close out a game with a 14-2 run, and you're the 2, you deserve to lose.
Goddamn, Rutgers. We had hope!
That’s too bad but Jarreau fought really hard for Houston wow
It's Rutgers. I never thought they's win, even when they were up by about ten.
Good comeback by Houston but also...whistle got a little tight at the end toward Houston.
Not a banner day for the Big 10, though at the same time expecting Rutgers to be your saving grace is unlikely.
Wow Rutgers shit the bed at the end. What a terrible last few minutes
They sat on the ball with a one possession lead. WTF?
Coaching choke job all the way.
Myles Johnson missed an alley oop, an easy tip in and unsuccessfully threw the ball out of bounds missing a guy from 2 feet. They also didn’t rebound and turned the ball over twice unforced in last minute but it’s the coaches fault?
It sure is when the head coach has Rutgers abandon what was successful all game long and go into a slowdown isolation game, bringing the clock down to <10 seconds each possession, then driving to the basket. That plan wasn't working when the lead shrunk down to first three possessions then two, and then one possession, and yet they stayed with it.
When you let the opposition outscore you 14-2 over the home stretch, yeah, it's somewhat on the kids on the court, but much more than that, on the coach.
That was bad, but Rutgers center missed an alley-oop, an easy putback, and couldn’t corral numerous rebounds. A few bad turnovers also hurt Rutgers. There’s only so much Pikiel can do, he coaches Rutgers.
wow... Rutgers had that game... like had it. Can't believe how badly they choked it away.
Johnson's missed alley oop dunk was a 5 point swing; could have been up 10 but instead the lead was cut to 5
That’s pulling a Rutgers for sure
OK, it's official: The Big Ten is overrated.
Michigan needs to play like an underdog the rest of the tournament.
Unless Michigan and Iowa make it to the Elite 8, conference is gonna take a major hit in the media
Rutgers was playing rather well, but turned back into a pumpkin with three minutes left in the game.
Oral roberts hanging tough, but man who is this Castleton fella. He was a good player for us but seemed a bit timid - he’s out here now flexing, powering up for rebounds, yelling at his team getting them organized. Seems the transfer was completely the right choice for him.
So why doesn't Castleton play here anymore?
previously posted but you can hear Castleton talk about it here...talks about Beilein for a few minutes earlier, but Howard and what he thought about him specifically below
https://youtu.be/4w-PegGWb7o?t=1419
at 37:18 he talks about how he came to the transfer decision....sounds like it was a family decision more than anything else.
My second favorite team in the tourney, Oral Roberts, may be about to pull off another miracle.
They did it!
Sorry for doubling up. But yes, they did it twice if you include OSU.
Has a 15 seed ever made it to the Sweet 16 before??
UPDATE: OOps, nevermind, forgot about FGCU
Oral Roberts? Really? Oral Roberts. What a crazy year. Oral Roberts. Sheesh.
I think the first name “Oral” is going to come back into style.

Oral has never gone out of style. Giving or receiving.
Oral Roberts looking like a team on a roll now.

An OSU (NTOSU) vs. OSU (NTOSU) battle going on. The 12 seed NTOSU is winning!

Really need Okie St to win this...they've righted the ship it seems but still down 4 and no guarantee they fully come back with the inconsistent offense. Hoping Cunningham keeps shooting well when he does (other Cowboys are not exactly hitting shots though they are getting to the line).

Oregon State keeps inbounding the ball into the same top corner to allow Oklahoma State to do the same trap.

If Okie St had just gone for easier 2 point shots instead of jacking up 3's in their last, oh, 5 or 6 possessions, this game would be tied now with 23.4 left. Bad, bad coaching.
