OT: What music are you listening to?

Submitted by Magnus on February 20th, 2019 at 1:09 PM

It's a slow day, so I'm going to bring back an oldie but a goodie:

What music are you listening to lately? I'm a music nut and I'm always curious about where I can expand my horizons. These are the artists/albums I've been listening to lately

Pedro the Lion's new album "Phoenix"
Geoff Farina's "The Wishes of the Dead"
Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats self-titled album
Kids See Ghosts self-titled release
Weezer's "Teal Album"

Right this moment? Styx!

The gig is up, they finally found me...

To answer the question, though, I have recently started listening to Christian rock. I never thought I would say that. I would have guessed I would start listening to country before Christian rock. There’s a group out of Australia called Hillsong Worship that is really good. Their music is so Goddamn inspirational.

Well I'm going to Bonnaroo in June so most of my rotation of music has consisted of people I'll be seeing there. Childish Gambino and post Malone are the big names, but I'm excited to see brockhampton, trampled by turtles, lonely island, Mac Demarco, lil dicky, and a bunch more. I'm way too excited for how far away it seems. Any other music festival/Bonnaroo fans in here?

After watching the documentary Who Is Harry Nilsson (And Why Is Everybody Talkin' About Him?), recently, I had to listen to Nilsson Schmilsson again.

Last night, I listened to Great Days: The John Prine Anthology to bring back some memories of my college radio days and catch up on some music that he'd written in the decades after I'd done my final college radio show. (Yes, I'm old.)

One that I've been listening to again is the 2017 album from The Dream Syndicate's reconstituted band -- How Did I Find Myself Here?.  Here's the title track:

Entire Tool discography is regularly on repeat in my house .... 5-6 days a week.  Seeing them at Chicago Open Air this May.  If they’re not on then it’s Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Smashing Pumpkins, Helmer Red Hot Chili Peppers .....

While I’m driving usually rap and Ive been on an Action Bronson kick lately. Love 2-Pac, Biggy, Jay-Z, Wiz Khalifa, Jeezy, Red Man, 2-Chainz, Wu-Tang, TI .... some of the newer stuff is OK

The Amity Affliction, love their new song "Drag the Lake"

Shinedown's "Attention Attention" album is excellent.

Ghost is always good.  "Dance Macabre" is a recent one I like.  Doesn't get much better than "Cirice" though.

Halestorm's "Do Not Disturb"

Bring Me The Horizon, Motionless in White, pretty much anything on SiriusXM Octane.

Usually, I listen to hard music. Rock, metal, their subgenres. But now I spend all my time on a royalty-free music library https://soundhills.com because I try to find the best track for my video. There are tons of decent options and I can't choose the one the only. I even think about making a couple of videos in order to use more than one songs.
