Props on admitting it and not really giving a shit about the haters. You could always go the James Yoder route and delete any past bad info, block anyone who disagrees, and send death threats to any person who openly criticizes you?
January 14th, 2019 at 4:28 PM ^
Lol, you are a tool.
January 14th, 2019 at 3:34 PM ^
Is there any objective evidence that Brady was a good DL coach, besides his having the job during the 1997 season?
He's failing his way back down to position coach, and Michigan shouldn't settle for someone like that.
January 14th, 2019 at 3:37 PM ^
I remember thinking the DL improved considerably in 2011 when Hoke arrived. Now we might attribute a bit of that to Mattison, but I remember hearing that Hoke was hands-on with that group. It was supposedly a reason that he didn't wear headphones during games - easier to coach 'em up, etc.
January 14th, 2019 at 3:48 PM ^
I don't think anyone who lists Brady Hoke as a D Line coaching candidate is a serious post. This is just part of the 2 or three sarcastic recommendations of Brady Hoke imbedded in multiple threads to tork everyone up on the Board each day.
January 14th, 2019 at 5:40 PM ^
tork? Is that a trombone that's also a fork?
January 14th, 2019 at 3:27 PM ^
Don't we need to lose a coach (Pep) before we can hire a new DL coach?
January 14th, 2019 at 3:29 PM ^
No, we are at 9.
January 14th, 2019 at 3:33 PM ^
Lost McElwain, Mattison, and Washington, added McDaniels, Gattis and Campanile. What am I missing, unless you just know of another departure that is coming?
January 14th, 2019 at 3:35 PM ^
McDaniels has never been officially announced. It will depend on the status of Pep.
January 14th, 2019 at 3:47 PM ^
McDaniels lists himself as WR coach on twitter, so are we thinking he won't be officially announced until Pep leaves? Or are you thinking McDaniels may not be on the coaching staff at all next year?
January 14th, 2019 at 4:14 PM ^
McDaniel was elevated to being a coach to finish out the 2019 recruiting cycle. It's not inaccurate that he became the WR coach, but that doesn't mean he'll be one during the 2019 season. Devin Bush, Sr. was the safeties coach for a while last off-season when Brian Smith left.
January 14th, 2019 at 6:28 PM ^
Any idea if that relationship is still good based on the info about the arguments over Bush jr. missing the bowl game?
January 14th, 2019 at 4:05 PM ^
Having Gattis and Pep on the staff in addition to having Warinner impact the run game before you even get to Harbaugh feels a lot like a Drevno/Frey situation. Wish Harbaugh would just sack up and fire Pep, he already let the world know he doesn't believe in him as the OC by bringing in Gattis, now you are just wasting a coaching spot on a guy with no purpose who is a mediocre at best recruiter.
January 14th, 2019 at 4:24 PM ^
Pep is the QB coach. If Harbaugh is trying to be more CEO type then he's not going to take on being the primary on coaching QBs.If Pep stays, he will most likely no longer be the passing game coordinator and just be the AHC/QB coach.
January 14th, 2019 at 4:44 PM ^
He's like the 5th highest paid coordinator in the nation. Its still terrible staff/resource management to have a likely unhappy, overpaid QB coach, who can't recruit for shit.
January 14th, 2019 at 5:39 PM ^
That's true. Either way we are going to need a QB coach and he works well with them. Not sure if his contract could be reworked to reflect his current role.
January 14th, 2019 at 8:03 PM ^
It’s like it is coming out of your pocket. The program has plenty of money. Worry about something relevant, like the poor people working for no pay.
January 14th, 2019 at 3:31 PM ^
Well, McDaniels was never really formally announced(like Gattis and Campanile were), so technically there is a spot open without losing Pep.
January 14th, 2019 at 3:28 PM ^
Is he the Nua DL coach?
January 14th, 2019 at 3:28 PM ^
Is he the Nua DL coach?
January 14th, 2019 at 3:30 PM ^
I've been hoping for Vinson Reynolds the DLine coach at Syracuse.
January 14th, 2019 at 3:31 PM ^
That ship has sailed.
January 14th, 2019 at 3:33 PM ^
Your ship has sailed

Your eucalyptus has been eaten.

Always appreciate your sharing of information. Even if you cannot divulge the short list (You cannot, right????), I am hopeful that this comes to a conclusion soon. My tech department asked why my F5 keeps failing on my keyboard.
January 14th, 2019 at 3:53 PM ^
Please see below. Brandon Justice has done a really good job on this one. Nua is definitely in the mix.
January 14th, 2019 at 3:36 PM ^
Can someone explain why this would be a good hire? His coaching history looks limited, having only really coached at Navy for 5 years and ASU for one. In his one year of recruiting, 247 has him ranked 457th. I know he played, but I'm not seeing anything that would indicate that he's a top coach and/or recruiter.
(Actual question, not complaining about him)
January 14th, 2019 at 3:41 PM ^
He would be a solid hire, but the interviews have been taking place and are ongoing. I think there are about 6 still in play (4 college/2 NFL) and few have parted ways during the process.
January 14th, 2019 at 3:47 PM ^
Care to share any of the other possibilities?
January 14th, 2019 at 3:50 PM ^
@BrandonJustice @theWolverineLounge probably has the most complete list. Everything is tucked behind the paywall right now. I haven't seen any of the names publicly announced.
January 14th, 2019 at 3:57 PM ^
Are Elston and/or Spencer in play?
January 14th, 2019 at 4:02 PM ^
Not sure Elston was ever really in it or it didn't get serious.
January 14th, 2019 at 3:54 PM ^
I still think Brian Baker would be a home run hire. That Miss St. d-line was truly legit this year, and he punched above his recruiting weight given the institution at MSU
UMBig11 - Any chance on that one?

Yes, there is interest there too.
January 14th, 2019 at 4:11 PM ^
Baker, Nua Spencer in play from College?
Williams and the Greenbay d line coach are the NFL guys?
Missing a college guy, Malloe?
January 14th, 2019 at 4:30 PM ^
You are doing pretty well. MaizeNBrew wrote a good article on who to look at. I think Sam Dodge wrote it.
January 14th, 2019 at 4:35 PM ^
Looks like it could be Kuligowski!!! o boy
January 14th, 2019 at 4:53 PM ^
I was thinking college.
January 14th, 2019 at 4:28 PM ^
Baker would be the home run while Nua is the one that people around here will find underwhelming until he woes them and then they cry when he takes a promotional job.
January 14th, 2019 at 4:05 PM ^
Kind of an underwhelming hire...
January 14th, 2019 at 4:12 PM ^
Perhaps. He’s following Michigan Football on Twitter.
January 14th, 2019 at 4:18 PM ^
He would be very expensive too.
January 14th, 2019 at 4:20 PM ^
We got dough bro
January 14th, 2019 at 4:27 PM ^
We aren’t gonna pay our DL coach as much as we’re paying Gattis.
January 14th, 2019 at 4:29 PM ^
How much are we paying Gattis, and how much would it take to get Nua?
January 14th, 2019 at 5:17 PM ^
I was referring to Spencer.
Gattis vase is I believe 800k and Spencer makes 700k.
January 14th, 2019 at 5:11 PM ^
much rather Baker if Spencer is too expensive. Nua has potential, but Baker is more proven. Rather Albert than Nua
