Rookie, indeed. I thought, from reading that article posted here recently, that bag men weren't supposed to draw attention to themselves. This is what leads me to believe you're correct. The grammar in the post (how do you misspell your own inbred, hick colloquialism-- "yall's") leads me to believe the poster is also a recent Alabama grad.

Saban was down multiple scores in Sec champ game with playoffs on the line. He goes hurry up / air raid.

We were down multiple scores with playoffs on the line - & huddling for 30 seconds & then running into a stacked box.

We had multiple times where the D wasn't even set when Osu snapped the ball. D went to zone & the guys had no idea of their jobs & left Osu receivers for wide open td's.

Bowl game JH needs to show he has the program running tight. That includes telling Brown to get some zone taught & mixed in.

Ahh well, Kareem Walker and Derrick Green were supposed to be world changers for this program too and look how that turned out!  Star gazing isn’t always what it seems to be.  The only reason it turns out for Bama is if one of their five stars busts, there’s another one right behind him to take their place!  Just can’t wait for the inevitable collapse of the empire down there!  It was fun when USC imploded, it will be even better with Alabama!

Georgia coulda shoulda beat Bama. They took their foot off the gas & got conservative with going for FG to put them up 3 scores. Once that was missed - Bama had life. Then the fake punt on 4th & 11 ...Wtf.

They are beatable if you have a solid team & outstanding coaching. Conservative & turtling fails more often than not against elite teams tho...

The best man in my wedding played for osu (yes that osu), and in the nfl 5 years. I was talking to him last night about the “flip commitment” mindset. He was heavily recruited by psu and osu and it came down to the wire.

He is in broadcasting now and around the college game a lot still. His thought was kids verbal earlier now (before they are ready) and the UM/osu game likely wasn’t the be all end all.  Fans live and die by one game, recruits don’t (at all) and with urban gone even more reason someone would think UM’s luck could change soon in the rivalry. He told me the overall vibe for UM nationally is quite positive. Certainly, he noted bama  does flip recruits by saying; “odds are you will be playing for 2-3, if not 4 championships if you are here that long  how many will you play for with school x“. A recruit three years ago told him that’s exactly what made him flip to bama.

His point was don’t go psycho over the osu game, even if we didn’t see it from afar he wasn’t as locked in as we thought so that’s why it feels like a gut punch to us but likely not a big surprise to those close to him. The flip side is he did say coaches actively do tell recruits “Michigan is still digging out of the hole and has a long way to go”.

This is also why he said he thought it’s important UM beats UF and finishes highly ranked. “You start being an automatic top 10 team to start and finish the year recruiting will follow”.

File this under common sense things we all know. Or “duh”.

I literally lost sleep over this last night. Hill is going to be a monster in college, closer to Charles Woodson than Jabrill Peppers. He’s faster than Peppers. He’s the only thing Don Brown’s defense has missed, and elite athlete at safety.

Bama gets whatever they want though. They’re churning out draft picks and national titles and they probably have nicer facilities than we do too. And the academic angle is not much different when we’re talking football programs.

It just totally sucks and there’s an almost certain chance it happened because Ohio State destroyed us.

I tend to agree. I find the process interesting but in all my years of UM fandom I’ve never really followed recruiting until after signing day.

If you were referencing my post I was calling him to get an appt with his tattoo person and saw this kid flipped.

Dude, don't lose sleep over it.

Here is the reality:

1.  Alabama is on the greatest run in the history of CFB.

2.  Michigan is a place that should be a top 10 or dozen program--exactly where it is this year.

3.  Michigan are ND are fraternal twins (though neither would want to admit it).  Both have excellent coaches (even if Kelly is embarrassing on the sideline).  But neither have Saban.  Also, both Michigan and ND have cultures that will avoid the higher levels of dirtiness that are ingrained at Alabama and several other places.  And that is why neither will have a run that is even close to what Alabama is doing now.

4.  Michigan's recruiting pitch is 'we have a great tradition, will win a lot, have put lots of guys in the NFL, but are a place that is about more than only football (see trips to Italy, France, Brazil...  And look we have a huge number of academic all big ten players, etc., etc.). '

5.  That is going to attract a certain type of player, but won't win most of the battles for high 4 and 5 star guys.  But it still can maintain Michigan at the bottom half  of the top 10 programs in the nation.

6.  For all of the above reason, signing guys like Dax Hill will is going to be the exception and not the rule.  So why loose sleep over it?

"If a majority of bag men want a particular coach out and an AD or President won't make a move, they'll just dry up the funds." ....we're witnessing this now with FSU and USC but unfortunately Bama does not have any challenges with emptying their coffers.

My reasonable friend - ask yourself why the proponents of paying SA's are coming from highly academic, private institutions from the north. Ask yourself why public schools in the SEC are not saying a word about it including all those young aspiring men who come from financially strapped areas. Ask yourself why Vanderbilt is always bad in high profile athletics. Ask yourself why those in the Power 5 are unwilling to make the jump away from the non-for-profit NCAA for fear of breaking federal law. Ask yourself why Pete Carroll left USC just before oddly enough their program was put on NCAA probation. Ask yourself who stands to lose money when a southern state's high profile football program is struggling. How does one flood millions of dollars into local communities? Have a highly successful and equally marketable football and/or basketball program. Who stands to profit from all of this? Insurance companies, foundations, car dealerships, law firms, strip-clubs, medical practices....even the local tattoo parlor. Money + ego + success = more money, more ego and more success.

Plausible deniability is an amazing tool for high-ups. If you ever want to gain inside knowledge of the inner workings of highly successful football/basketball programs, park yourself next to a compliance officer, an administrative assistance or a tutor.

This goes way above you and I being fans of Michigan football since 1961 or any other year.

Michigan got clowneyed in their big game - Bama rolls Tide in their big game.

Really sucks - but can't blame the kid.

Help me here.

Assertion: M can’t & wont compete w/ OSU unless & until we can match their talent.

Assertion: Talent & therefore wins are evaluated and graded by recruiting services & assigned star ratings that are reliable predictors of that players potential both at the college & future NFL level.

I’m not calling these assertions correct or incorrect. I only assert that by this logic, a random NFL starting roster should display a strong bias toward OSU/ Bama players.

So I picked a team at random and looked at the colleges of their starting roster. The New Orleans Saints were my random pick. Here’s what you see.

A surprising # of players from schoools like SMU, Arkansas st., NIU and various other nobody’s that there is NO WAY we would lose out to in a recruiting battle.

How do we become better at finding these guys? I mean if you can’t beat out the OSU’s & Bamas for the consensus guys(we can’t) then stop putting so much effort at it. Concentrate on finding those guys bound for NIU & CMU that have NFL talent & fucking go get them!!

Easton Stick at NDSU might be a better QB than Shea Patterson & Dwayne Haskins when it’s all said & done. How the fuck does he end up at NDSU?! Or, how does Carson Wentz do what Ruddock, O’Korn, Speight etc. appear far from doing and why can’t we “flip” guys like him?

Lovely. Things just keep heading in wrong direction. Can’t say I blame the kid. He no doubt watched us get embarrassed by our biggest rival on national TV.
