Future spring break trips: South Africa 2019, Brazil 2020, Cuba 2021
Haven't heard this yet.
South Africa in 2019
Brazil in 2020
CUBA in 2021!
Crazy.
#Michigan is heading to South Africa in 2019, Brazil in 2020, and Cuba in 2021. It's a big part of why the parents of 4-star Florida State LB commit @KalenDeloach are telling him Jim Harbaugh's plan is the best one for him (VIP) https://t.co/5n2roSBUHD pic.twitter.com/a5Wd0FCPkA

No Machu Picchu, Cairo? Maybe in the future I hope.
December 6th, 2018 at 7:06 PM ^
Pretty sure they aren't over spring break anymore.

I love it - best program in the country *for the players*
December 6th, 2018 at 7:13 PM ^
Nice experience for the players and coaches. Michigan is an International brand for sure.

Y'all know that some OSU person with contacts in Cuba will have Cuba detain the team indefinitely.
December 6th, 2018 at 7:28 PM ^
Wanna see em go to Tokyo and have the O & D lines enter a Sumo contest. Those people would go ape shit over it.
December 6th, 2018 at 7:34 PM ^
For cultural experience, Cuba is a non-sequitur with the rest that have been done/planned.
Something in Asia, or maybe a cruise of the pacific, tracking big WWII battles in the spirit of the Normandy trip... that would be more like it.

We returned from Cuba a few weeks ago.
enjoy the cigars (&rum). Bring your own beef. Cuba is an interesting but in the end totally f’d up place. It would be a fantastic learning experience

Will anyone in these shithole countries teach the team how to beat OSU?

For fuck’s sake just win some meaningful football games.
But yeah these players should get paid.
December 7th, 2018 at 12:22 PM ^
We won a bunch of meaningful games this year. All these people who are like "8-4, but 6-6 is a real possibility, with a ceiling of 9-3 and floor of 4-8" before the season, now crapping on us at 10-2 with great wins over Wisconsin, Penn State, and MSU. GTFO this board.
Coach is making men. And these men are playing better football each year. And a big part of our success this year was maturation and team cohesion.
So these trips absolutely do help win games.
Never mind that they are very attractive to high school kids who have been counting on football their entire lives to get them out into the wide world.
The trips are great. Your comment is bad, and you should feel bad.

I would reconsider that Cuba trip. I was there 2 years ago and most of my travel party had food poisoning for a week.
A better idea would be a Pacific island like the Samoas or the Fijis...you know, better recruiting opportunities.
December 6th, 2018 at 8:02 PM ^
Dang, that's some sleeper cell food poisoning.
December 6th, 2018 at 8:08 PM ^
It was the worst post-trip experience ever...straight up sitting on the toilet for a week straight. The sort of thing that I think according to WebMD permanently damages your kidneys or whatever forever. But I think I'm OK now. Plz don't scare me further with factz.
I do have a nice cigar collection though :)

Those Polynesian girls are way to hot to land a football team into.
December 6th, 2018 at 8:01 PM ^
Cool, but until we beat Ohio State none of this matters.
December 6th, 2018 at 8:02 PM ^
Okay, cool. Hook 'em.
December 6th, 2018 at 8:09 PM ^
Here's my future tip: Beat fucking Ohio St.

2022 Tijuana donkey party
December 6th, 2018 at 8:38 PM ^
I just clicked on this to see how far I'd have to read before I saw the inevitable "Just beat osu" post. I was a little surprised it wasn't until the second page... (note: traveling to a foreign country and winning football games are not mutually exclusive.)
December 6th, 2018 at 8:56 PM ^
Win a big one. Don't see any value add unless this is really student athlete related.
December 7th, 2018 at 12:26 PM ^
Yeah, because these trips do nothing to improve the education or experience of the students, or the maturation or cohesion of the team of athletes... /s
WTF is the matter with you people? These trips make better human beings; it's not like he's arranging team excursions to the tattoo parlor and the car dealership... is that what you want?
December 6th, 2018 at 8:58 PM ^
How come the NCAA only let's basketball travel once every 4 years, but football can go annually?
December 7th, 2018 at 12:30 AM ^
I’m guessing the basketball trips are funded by the school, but the Football trips have been paid for by private donations.
December 6th, 2018 at 9:21 PM ^
Maybe start with a fing win over OSO. Then vacation....
December 6th, 2018 at 9:22 PM ^
Could just skip these places and check out Indianapolis....festive / exotic locale first week in Dec .....any year now.
December 6th, 2018 at 9:30 PM ^
Carnival!
December 6th, 2018 at 9:39 PM ^
Or they can spend more time taking trips to indy at the end of the regular season?
December 6th, 2018 at 9:55 PM ^
kind of disappointing... i thought Japan was on the docket, truly an amazing place.
I would consider seeing them in Brazil.
December 7th, 2018 at 12:27 PM ^
Would be so much better than Cuba, right?
How about a pacific cruise toward Japan, following some great battles (and hitting some of those island nations with some huge/raw OL prospects!) and ending in Japan?
December 7th, 2018 at 9:31 PM ^
I second this. I loved my trip to Japan, even though it was for work. I went to Fukuoka, Osaka and Kyoto. Incredible and interesting place.
December 6th, 2018 at 10:46 PM ^
Hopefully they won't catch that nasty ringing in the ears disease in Havana.
December 7th, 2018 at 12:28 AM ^
Can everyone agree: Dictators = bad, Communism = bad, Starving people = bad, Racism = bad, Educational overseas trips for college students = good?
December 7th, 2018 at 1:09 AM ^
Funny that, Beileins got a trip to Minneapolis in April lined up.
Not quite as exotic of course
