Thats what you need to play to win. The Pro Style Offense don't work anymore its becoming extinct at the HS level and Pro level.

Change is needed

Just need a more innovative and modern passing game. Definitely showed a lot of spread this year but Michigan was never a team that could throw all over anyone. I don’t think Patterson hit 300 yards once this year and all the top teams hit that mark many times this year. And in my opinion Patterson is capable of throwing for that much in the right passing offense. Harbaugh’s offense is innovative but it does not favor the pass and that has to change for Michigan to compete with the very top teams

We did run more spread concepts this season and went 10-2. Our problem is not scheme as much as it is huddling and large-scale substitutions every down and distance.

We allow the defense to sub after every play to fit our formations. Puts us at a complete disadvantage.

I'd really like to see a UFR-style breakdown of these teams. Oklahoma seemed to use their tight ends and they ran more than they passed today. They have a tight end with 22 receptions this year. Notre Dame does a lot of power running out of the shotgun as well and has a tight end with 34 catches, much like Michigan.

What I'd really like to see from Michigan is a better offense. We already run most of our offense out of the shotgun and pistol and use the option game to keep opponents honest. Perhaps it's more the fact that Pep Hamilton has been mediocre to okay at coordinating offenses his entire career and we need someone better to call passes and influence Harbaugh in his run/pass balance. Next year we should improve by default, with the offense losing only Higdon and JBB, but gaining Charbonnet and the redshirted freshman linemen as competition. Still, we should hope for more passing to our elite athletes, but not necessarily a complete redesign of the offense. That's just not necessary.

Yeah and the one who probably does it best wont get to play in the playoff. That would be the shithole south of you guys. Watching this game tonight and seeing Haskins put up these numbers again, if he doesn't go pro, that would be the biggest crime that team has ever committed. We all know there have been some big ones. Damn that guy is good when he's on.

When everyone is going to or has already gone to spread the logical thing is to stick with pro set.  Even bellbottoms and paisley shirts made a comeback and when they did I didn't have to add to my wardrobe.  Harbaugh is on to something here, and most people on this board just aren't prescient enough to figure it out.
