Did Crisler really reach 110 decibels tonight?
November 29th, 2018 at 2:02 AM ^
Was 2,000 miles away but it sounded like it.

Only because the machine doesn't go to 111.
November 29th, 2018 at 2:15 AM ^
When asked why he shot a 3 at the end, Jordan Poole remarked, because I couldn't shoot a 4.

I was there and I've never heard it that loud in person before. It was incredible.
And yes the scoreboard did go out for a few minutes.
What a great fucking game.
Unannounced, the hype video before tipoff highlighting the history of Michigan Basketball is narrated by Jalen Rose. Moe, Juwan Howard, THJ and Jalen narrated parts of it tonight. Was a cool surprise.

Wow, if you know where the video is please make a new post with it, I would really appreciate it.

That video was sweet. It had always been just Jalen narrating it but they added Juwan, Tim Hardaway and Moe to it and debuted that one last night. Loved everything about it! And the game was outstanding. Love this team because they play so damn hard and together.

EH??!?

I did my part!!

I can't complain too much, as I attended school when Yost was probably it's best (98-03), but I have to admit I'm jealous of the basketball atmosphere. 5 years of Ellerbe coaching left a lot to be desired, and students were all in the second level with the lower level usually empty. Glad that was fixed and the coaching was obviously fixed as well.

Ugh... Can we just stop mentioning Ellerbe forever? Guy wasn't fit to be a D2 HC.
November 29th, 2018 at 8:49 AM ^
Hard to blame him for taking the offer when Michigan came calling for him.
November 29th, 2018 at 9:12 AM ^
He was Fisher's third assistant, so it was nothing more than an in-house promotion offered by Tom Goss. Yeesh... The combination of Tom Goss and Brian Ellerbe moved Michigan bball back to the stone ages when it didn't really need to go there, despite the sanctions.

Goss... Ha ha ha. Another private sector gem a la Brandon.
More than just BB. Goss gave us the halo. A budget deficit. Wanted to drop wrestling (yeah, there was a problem there but dropping rather than reform is a knee jerk reaction).
Weird thing is Canham had Goss' back.

I was there during those years too. Amaker came in '01 and the student section moved down right after.

'90-'97 was just as good.
November 30th, 2018 at 10:11 AM ^
I didn't attend the games until 98, but I can believe that 90-97 were just as good. Especially with two national titles in there.

I had court side seats and there were times I could not hear my son sitting right next to me, I have not heard Crisler that loud since the Fab Five.
November 29th, 2018 at 9:26 AM ^
That first freshmen fab 5 Duke game... That was loud.
November 29th, 2018 at 9:51 AM ^
Yeah, I was a student for the first Duke/Fab 5 game. It was super loud. That game was full of future NBA players and Webber was a force. Even though we lost, that was the first time I think I really believed that the Fab 5 were going to be amazing.
November 29th, 2018 at 10:28 AM ^
Correct I was there at that game also.
November 29th, 2018 at 10:28 AM ^
I don't know if it hit 110 decibels. I was at the game and it was really loud. I'd even say it was Loudermilk.

The chance it reached 110 decibels
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
the likelihood that The Big House attendance exceeded 100,000 during most of the the 2014 season.

It might have been, I was there it was loud, crazy loud. When Mathews dunked the ball of rebound in the second half, the foul was called and NOBODY heard the whistle. Watch the reply they are all still playing and Mathews is complaining about not getting a call.
November 29th, 2018 at 10:52 AM ^
Forgive me if this was obvious on the television broadcast, but on the Charles Matthews put-back dunk during the second half run, the crowd was so loud that most folks--even some of the players on the court--couldn't hear the whistle to know that he had been fouled, too. Carolina just inbounded the ball and headed up the court to get into their offensive set. The ref had to run over to the scorer's table and tell them at point blank range to stop the game for the foul he had called because no one could hear anything.
November 29th, 2018 at 11:15 AM ^
it wasn't obvious. the announcers had no clue a foul had been called either. nobody could hear the whistle.
November 29th, 2018 at 1:39 PM ^
I was sitting court side and had no idea foul was called, nobody did.

Loudest I’ve heard was against Duke with the Fab 5. Students lined up starting around 8pm the night before outside Crisler to get the best seats. Place was rockin due to the loathing of Laettner. I was also there against UNC and it didn’t even come close.
