The Devin Gil/ Josh Ross rotation remains befuddling.

Is Pro Football Focus respected at all now?  Thought they were considered a total joke?  They put the word Pro in their name, but it's a totally amateur operation.

What grade did Gary get. Can’t believe it would be very high. Huge disappointment from the #1 recruit out of high school.  He needs to come back. Can’t believe he gets drafted in the first or second round.

The issue there is how many of those offenses would be top 30 had they not played Michigan? At one point this season, (haven’t done the stat in a    couple weeks) Michigan opponents dropped an average of 17 spots in the total offense rankings. Michigan had held 8 of their first 9 opponents (again, havent done the stat in a few weeks) to their season low.

Michigan has an elite, stifling defense. One bad game doesn’t change that fact. Every top defense has a game or two every year where they end up getting shredded by an elite offense. If you expect any defense to hold every opponent to 200 yards and 15 points, you’re going to be disappointed every year.

The defense can be out-schemed.  Most analysts said the way to contain OSU was to run zone.  What does Don Brown do?  Run man-to-man because that worked so well against Indiana.

Also, name the last healthy opposing quarterback we had success against (Rutger don't count).  So yeah, if Haskins would've had an injured throwing arm (Lewerke) or a busted leg (McSorley and Martinez), maybe their offense would've dropped 17 spots after yesterday also.

He was abused in a huge way, but that's a little harsh.  He didn't have the speed to keep up with some of those WR's and a big part of that was caused by the lack of pass rush.  I told my brother in the 3rd qtr that Watson needs to go sit on the bus with Gentry (I was getting aggravated at that point of the game), but he has been really good all season.

I agree.  Watson didn't look good but who on Michigan's defense did look good?  I thought the TV commentator was making too much of the plays after the fact.  I had my eyes shuti n frustration for parts of the game but I saw about 8 crossing routes for big gains.  I couldn't tell for sure but I don't think they were all Watson's fault, like maybe just one for sure.

Don’t see how anyone on a defense that gives up 62 is rated above average.  Ross made no difference in this game.

Maybe because if you really pay attention, it wasn’t a personnel issue most of the time. It was almost purely schematic. Michigan couldn’t bring their pressure because you can’t play man coverage against their mesh. Every OSU passing route included some form of clear out or pick plays.

OSU’s offense is specifically designed to hit the high percentage plays and for their athletes to turn those into chunk plays. That’s not a Michigan defense issue. That’s a schematic issue.

Fact is, OSU came out and played their best game of the year. When they play like that, it’s extremely tough for anyone to beat them. Including Bama. Not saying they beat Bama, but they’d make it extremely tough.

Aside from Watson being picked on with success, I don’t really see what you watched where you point to it being a player performance issue.

Like I said, their passing game is designed to create separation and make high percentage throws that the WRs turn into chunk plays. It’s designed so you can’t bring pressure. It’s designed with 3-5 step drops to get the ball out quickly so you can’t generate pressure with a 4 man rush.

Their offense is incredibly simple. It’s effective because it’s based on efficiency. Make the easy plays and give the athletes the room to be athletes.

That is literally what scheming is in college football.... you design plays to get the matchup you want. When they wanted a deep shot they isolated Watson on the outside. When they wanted to hit the running back they would run a rub route and force the linebacker inside to create separation for the wheel route and at that point Michigan’s linebackers couldn’t keep up. It was absolutely scheme.

Even if Michigan wanted to run a zone, they can’t. They aren’t coached to do so, so when they do (and they did some yesterday) they look lost. Don brown needs to evolve some or Daxton Hill needs to be a complete game changer that can do anything on Defense.

I feel like were the French before WWII.  Equipped and trained to fight the last war.  I believe Don Brown caught OSU off guard in 16 but its been figured out.
