We got punched in the mouth in the third. And it didn't matter.
This right here. It says a ton about the mental toughness and character of the offense.
October 20th, 2018 at 4:59 PM ^
Offense pounded the ball against a VERY good run defense. Love the last first down - Bench and Bench and game over.
October 21st, 2018 at 11:13 AM ^
Same.
Was really hoping that sequence would make it into the Parkinggod highlight video for the end of game statement they made.
October 20th, 2018 at 4:59 PM ^
Just gashed the number one rush d. I hope JBB is ok.
October 20th, 2018 at 5:13 PM ^
All snowflakes are different but that one is good
October 20th, 2018 at 5:14 PM ^
I missed the game but heard that JBB got hurt. Did he walk off on his own?
Great win!
October 20th, 2018 at 5:23 PM ^
He did, but gingerly.
October 20th, 2018 at 6:19 PM ^
yes he did. Didn't look too bad.
October 21st, 2018 at 1:59 AM ^
Yes, but knee injuries are weird. Not uncommon for guys to suffer major knee injuries and walk off on their own power. Not saying that's what happened to JBB but his ability to walk doesn't guarantee anything.
October 20th, 2018 at 5:15 PM ^
Wouldn’t really call it gashing them but it was good enough to control the 2nd half
October 20th, 2018 at 5:31 PM ^
I wouldn't say gash either, but our running game dominated the late third & fourth quarter.
We killed seven minutes of clock on a scoreless, ten play fourth quarter drive. Did much if the same on the scoring drive late in the third, also.
October 20th, 2018 at 8:50 PM ^
Higdon ran for 144 yards. That's a good day against anyone. That's a great day against the formerly #1 run D.
October 20th, 2018 at 7:19 PM ^
He ran out onto the field at the end to celebrate should be okay. I yelled his name many times
October 21st, 2018 at 7:16 AM ^
Thanks for this, very helpful — JBB’s injury goes from being a serious concern to being a good chance for Steuber to get some meaningful playing time...

BPWNED
October 20th, 2018 at 5:00 PM ^
Left a ton of points off the board in the first half. Great job grinding out the run game in the second half. Some heady reads from Shea. Solid offensive outing still room to improve but overjoyed with the outcome.
October 20th, 2018 at 5:00 PM ^
Half the board wanted to fire the coaching staff because they weren't throwing it in the middle of a storm. lol
October 20th, 2018 at 5:26 PM ^
And last year half the board wanted to fire the coaching staff because they were throwing it in the middle of a storm. lol Fans. Gotta love 'em, 'cause you can't kill 'em.
October 20th, 2018 at 5:00 PM ^
Damn good OL. MSU threw everything at them and they still held on. Funny thing is they can still improve. Can't wait to see how we do against PSU with another week of improvement. We need the big fella JBB. He is a beast. Shea will take another step next game leading up to OSU. Absolutely love it.
October 20th, 2018 at 5:00 PM ^
Shea needs to trust his WR's
October 20th, 2018 at 5:11 PM ^
Yeah, I don't know what was going on with him in that 1st half. He had DPJ wide open for the TD on that throw to Eubanks (which was a great throw, don't get me wrong). Then, had him again down inside the 20. Just wouldn't pull the trigger.
October 20th, 2018 at 5:13 PM ^
I don't mind the Eubanks throw; probably the read he would make before DPJ, it was open, he hit it, we scored on the drive.
The rollout where DPJ was open in the endzone and Shea wound up taking a sack after waiting for an eternity, that was bad. That was a TD on a throw he has proven he can and will make.
October 21st, 2018 at 10:38 AM ^
He saw the DB cutting to jump the route but he could have easily thrown it to the corner of the end zone and either hit dpj or incomplete. He’s afraid of making a mistake for sure.
October 20th, 2018 at 5:11 PM ^
Yeah, on third down on the go routes, Shea can throw a bomb that becomes a “50/50” that these WRs can win out on or result in overthrow at worse. It is like when we had Darboh and Chesson and we had to learn that it was okay to test it deep. Big, fast WRs—test the arm!
October 20th, 2018 at 5:25 PM ^
Shea needs to learn how to lead his receivers open.
October 20th, 2018 at 6:07 PM ^
I think he did on the DPJ touchdown
October 20th, 2018 at 5:00 PM ^
Really would like to capitalize on opportunities better. Ground down MSU, had a pretty good four minute offense late, converting first downs we've struggled to convert in the past. Hope JBB is OK after the bye week.
This was an offense good enough to win with our defense against most teams. OSU is a bit more explosive and we need more.
October 20th, 2018 at 5:01 PM ^
Why so much garbage heading straight for the sideline?
October 20th, 2018 at 5:01 PM ^
I still have so,e questions about the playcalling on those 5 wasted drives but Shea also had something to do with it. Offense has huge capabilities but we play very reserved for a lot of our quarters. We should be airing it out a little more.
October 20th, 2018 at 5:01 PM ^
I just don't think Sparty was that good to truly cause the disruption they did for most of the game. Something in the philosophy and gamecalling needs tweaked.
October 20th, 2018 at 5:02 PM ^
Weather was a factor. Both teams played it very conservative when the rain came in before Michigan finally cracked it open.
October 20th, 2018 at 5:01 PM ^
Shea, please test single coverage more.
Hope JBB is ok, OL on the ground wore them down and imposed their will down the stretch. Ben Herbert uber alles.
October 20th, 2018 at 6:13 PM ^
Our OL appears to be an actual weapon in the run game. Who would have thought that?
Completely agree about testing single coverage. With DPJ especially, but also with Collins.
...And Black.
We've got the horses. And we're finally hitting them. That play was, uh, important.
October 20th, 2018 at 5:01 PM ^
Michigan figured out how to run the ball again in the second half, so nice adjustments. They still seem to play to tight and almost not to make mistakes vs. going for the win like the defense. Defense is lights out even without arguably their best player - less than 100yds is impressive.
Need the offense to get it going earlier in the games.
October 20th, 2018 at 9:18 PM ^
Sorry but Gary is third . Winovich then Bush.
October 21st, 2018 at 2:37 AM ^
Stanford did the same thing under Harbaugh. They run early for 1-3 yards. By the third an fourth quarters those runs are 4 yards and over as the defense gets worn out.
October 20th, 2018 at 5:01 PM ^
Shea is a playmaker. He’s not perfect, he makes some poor decisions during the course of a game. But dude makes the big plays when it counts.
Higdon is our best back since Mike Hart. O-line keeps getting better.
October 20th, 2018 at 5:05 PM ^
He left multiple plays out there when they also counted...he's good bot great and I'm not one that expects perfection but there were runs, throws, and decisions to be made that helped make it such a frustrating game. I'm not sure he's a true playmaker.
October 20th, 2018 at 5:15 PM ^
His fourth down run was a made play. His perfect throw to DPJ was a mother bleeping made play. His near 70% completion record on the season—the dude makes plays. You should not type football comments. Your analysis is like Matt Millen drafting Charles Rogers.
October 20th, 2018 at 5:25 PM ^
Shut up stupid
October 20th, 2018 at 5:02 PM ^
Hope JBB is ok.
They did well a couple of times. Not so hot a couple of times.
We won don’t care. Now rest up for the stretch run.
Go Blue.
October 20th, 2018 at 5:02 PM ^
The rain plainly hurt our offense. If it had been a clear day, we would have won by an extra two touchdowns.
October 20th, 2018 at 5:02 PM ^
Patterson and Higdon are damn good at selling those run fakes/QB keepers! Had me fooled at least 3 times...
October 20th, 2018 at 5:03 PM ^
The first 2.5 quarters minus the one drive felt like hell. Once the DPJ pass happened the flood gates opened and pure domination.
Sucks to see JBB go down but he walked off. We have a bye and probably don't actually need him til OSU so rest up. Interesting that Steuber came in and not Hudson.
October 20th, 2018 at 5:03 PM ^
game changing play? Yep! Put the game out of reach drive? Sure! game sealing drive? Mash’d ‘Em! Victory formation? Hail!
October 20th, 2018 at 5:03 PM ^
Inconsistent. Periods of domination followed by periods of ineptitude and poor execution. That is how I sum it all up.
October 20th, 2018 at 5:03 PM ^
I really do wanna apologize to everyone here and the team for doubting them and being a little bitch
October 20th, 2018 at 6:06 PM ^
Yeah I should do the same thing. I was freaking out when I should have just watch the game and have more confidence in the team.
October 20th, 2018 at 5:03 PM ^
We just ran the football down the throat of the top ranked run defense in the NCAA. Pretty fucking sweet!
October 20th, 2018 at 5:04 PM ^
Such a good job getting first downs at the end of the game when everyone knew we were running.
Definitely left some points on the board but I think it was evened out by a couple tipped balls really working out in our favor.
Shae is such a talented deep ball passer and if he starts letting it rip downfield more often I think the offense can make the jump from good to great.
