Tarik Black Has A Foot Injury
Michigan states what they know so far about the injury rumors flying around last night:
From UM: The Michigan Football program announced that wide receiver Tarik Black sustained a right foot injury at Saturday's practice. Tarik is currently being evaluated and no definitive time frame has been determined for his return to play.

Feldman provides some additional, unfortunate detail:
SOURCE: #Michigan WR Tarik Black is feared to have broken his foot Saturday at practice and is expected to miss an extended amount of time this season. He is considered to be one of UM's top weapons. He missed 10 games last year with a foot injury.

The appropriate response to this is to yell an expletive and think about throwing your coffee mug but not actually throwing it. It'll be fine! Maybe!

Get better soon, Tarik.

Man, I feel bad for Tarik. I am hoping for a speedy recovery and that he can be back for maybe the last three or four games. We're gonna need him in the CFP.

This sucks, especially with all the depth we lost this offseason at the position. Hopefully it is not as bad as we think, and he can be back by mid-season!

Bummer. Feel bad for the guy. Was really looking forward to Shea connecting with TB on the deep ball.

I'd like to hear from an orthopedist or a physiatrist about the notion that a broken bone in one foot (or some other orthopedic injury) causes increased stress in the other foot. There are more than 20 bones, and more than a hundred ligaments and muscles in one foot. An awfully complicated piece of machinery. It's really odd, how an injury to one foot could predispose an injury in the other.
And I had a personal interest in this insofar as I ruptured an Achilles, and had the reparative surgery done at UM by one of the football team's surgeons. I asked very simply whether I was then prone to rupture the other one, and he said that it had been studied by the post-operative researchers, and there was NO increased likelihood in an Achilles injury to the opposite side.
(My own repair, and my opposite Achilles, have been just fine.)

Tough to hear and feel for Tarik. Get well soon and hello Nico. Time to step up and shine
August 26th, 2018 at 3:29 PM ^
Two in two seasons. Are we sure he isn't too fragile for college football???
Don't suppose there's a diamond in the rough somewhere in the UM student body that could walk on and help?
August 28th, 2018 at 2:50 AM ^
Not sure what’s in the rough Synful, but in plain sight on.the hardwood is Charles Matthews...
August 26th, 2018 at 3:33 PM ^
I believe in Nico.
August 26th, 2018 at 6:46 PM ^
Hopefully, his foot supporting muscles feel the same.

Personally, Im more worried about Tarik and his future than I am the team. The team will be fine. Next man up. Martin, Schoenle and Nico get more playing time and should provide more than adequate cover for Tarik. But this is a young mans dreams we are talking about. Lets all keep that in perspective.
August 26th, 2018 at 6:04 PM ^
None of those guys are nearly as good as Black. The team might not be “fine.”
August 26th, 2018 at 3:46 PM ^
feel better tarik. cant imagine the emotions after working so hard to be back and only a week away
be lucky if he is 80% of what he was (as of yesterday) for osu, conditioning, working back, reps. probably wont be close to right till bowl game
August 26th, 2018 at 3:46 PM ^
Why can't we have nice things??
August 26th, 2018 at 6:47 PM ^
We don't have Urban.
August 26th, 2018 at 3:46 PM ^
Hopefully, Ambry and or Hawkins will start working with the WR. One more receiver goes down and it's trouble.
August 26th, 2018 at 3:51 PM ^
What's the issue with depth here? Pro offense and thin at WR???? Move a TE out there. And we have only 1 coming in next year. What gives?
August 26th, 2018 at 3:56 PM ^
The issue is a WR can keep defenses honest and take the top off the defense. A TE can't do that very well. If DPJ has to miss time for any reason, then what?
August 26th, 2018 at 3:47 PM ^
Not optimal. Hopefully he can at least have a career at UM.
August 26th, 2018 at 3:47 PM ^
Dammit. We can never get through a fall practice without some significant injury. I think this is one we can overcome assuming the hype about Nico and Oliver Martin is legit. (Plus all our other weapons who can catch the ball). But the WR depth is definitely looking thin. Michigan will need Schoenle and or Bell to step up.
August 26th, 2018 at 4:11 PM ^
This stinks and I don’t like it.
August 26th, 2018 at 4:21 PM ^
No mention of Schoenle?
Keep it on the downlow, but that right there is our secret weapon.
August 26th, 2018 at 4:38 PM ^
Exactly. Not a god situation and I don't see recruiting from last year or next addressing.
August 26th, 2018 at 4:43 PM ^
That sucks for Tarik. I feel bad for the kid. That has to play havoc on your mental state when you do finally get back on the field. Hopefully for his sake it's not as serious as we all fear and he can make a comeback the second half of this season. In the meantime it's next man up. The bright side is Collins had a good fall camp this should give him & Martin more opportunities to enhance their development and make us stronger when Black does return. Plus we should still be able to rely on DPJ & Perry. But, this does put a dent in our depth, particularly with Crawford & McDoom gone.
August 26th, 2018 at 4:46 PM ^
Curious, could he potentially use last year's injury as a medshirt and take this year as his regular redshirt, effectively giving him a 6th year? I doubt he'd stay that long, but who knows what the future holds-- Kekoa and McDoom sure looked good as freshmen.
August 26th, 2018 at 6:02 PM ^
DPJ is gonna have to step it up. This is bad.
August 26th, 2018 at 6:15 PM ^
I’m throwing it any ways
August 26th, 2018 at 9:43 PM ^
Sounding like the football equivalent of Caris
August 26th, 2018 at 11:51 PM ^
Well it’s football season again, time to be kicked in the balls repeatedly...

I’ve constructed my jock out of iron this season. Plastic didn’t cut it last year.
August 27th, 2018 at 1:24 PM ^
Iron sharpens iron?
August 27th, 2018 at 8:49 AM ^
You know it’ll be an unwelcome read when Brian starts it with “Michigan state”...
August 27th, 2018 at 11:05 AM ^
This really sucks but after thinking about it for a little while I don't think this is a death knell for our offense or for the receiver group. We have a plethora or TEs on the roster that are receiving threats and Nico & Oliver Martin have a year of apprenticeship under their belts.
However if we lose another receiver or TE to injury then it may be time to sound the alarms...
August 27th, 2018 at 12:44 PM ^
Get well soon, Tarik.
August 27th, 2018 at 4:41 PM ^
We'll be fine. I hope.
