Wisconsin starting WR Quintez Cephus criminally charged, on leave from team
Charges unspecified at this time, something related to a relationship back in April.

Should clarify that charges are anticipated, not official yet. , cephus announced his leave tonight in anticipation of them

The article says he left the team on his own to concentrate on clearing his name, per himself. Sounds like he's trying to get out in front of this.
He's either innocent, or going "all in" before the "flop" and trying to bluff his hand.
Either way it's a bold strategy, Cotton.

So we’ll see if it pays off for him?

Double the flavor double the fun, double the words for some double post fun...
(Now read it again while singing it to the double mint gum song)

I am innocent of any allegations associated with this consensual relationship
Got it. So if this is like any other normal/non MSU/OSU B1G school, you were probably going to be suspended until the courts figure this out.
"I realize that I don't have the relationships and political pull that others may have here at the university or with the Dane County District Attorney's office
Do tell...No, Really. Seriously, spill.

Not sure what to think about those comments about the DA. Almost think he was better off to leave it out.
August 19th, 2018 at 8:11 AM ^
Almost?
A shot at the University and the DA is something better left to his attorney. It invites all sorts of questions that Cephus would be better off not answering.

Geez, I thought only the "state" schools -staee / ped state / THEEEEE ohio - had shenanigans going on at them.

Forget the somewhat strange comments by the player.
This appears to be playing out as it should. Player is (or is about to be) charged with DV and he is immediately suspended once the police charge. Player’s scollie is in place and he is given a chance to fight the allegations, but can’t play in the interim. Final decision awaits judicial process conclusion.
Rational process. Wisconsin has a good track record with player behavior. Let it play out.

Maybe on off the field stuff .But when I think of Wisconsin player behavior, I immediately think of that deranged special teamer trying to twist Steve Breaston's lower leg off at the knee after the whistle.
Fat Bert seemed perfectly fine with that.

And the cheap shot against Newsome.
August 18th, 2018 at 11:48 PM ^
I don't know why people keep saying the hit on Newsome was illegal. It was a perfectly legal hit, delivered the way players are taught to deliver them. The fact that Newsome's knee went backward was just rotten f'in luck as a break of timing (when and where his foot planted in the normal course of running). And if you say it was illegal ("cheap" being nothing more than a replacement word for 'illegal'), then you're saying that kid intentionally went in to injure Newsome. That's a stretch that I call total bullshit.
Now, if you want to say the hit is of the type that should be illegal, okay. That's an argument we'll agree on...
August 19th, 2018 at 11:13 AM ^
Cheap is not a replacement word, it is the correct word to use, because it was a cheap shot. Say it was a "legal" block all you want, it was a cheap shot.
All of the other nonsense that you spouted about intent to injure, bad luck and calling bullshit...well that is like your opinion man...and all bullshit.
Don't tell a guy that calls something cheap, that he really meant illegal, just so that you can frame your argument around.

To this day I don't know how there isn't a rule about purposeful submarine hits by defenders to legs on a blocker downfield.
OLine aren't allowed to chop block...

His reference to a “consensual relationship” sounds more like he’s anticipating a sexual assault charge than DV.

Bucky's5thQuarter just wrote a story posted this morning singing the praises of Cephus's play in fall camp..then this story breaks. And the first comment about his possible legal problems is a real doozy:
#Metoo Movement is out to destroy men
It’s time to stand up for our men with #MGTOW. No more will these gold digging whores be given power to say or do whatever they want. They should go to prison for these false allegations. If found innocent Q could still suffer major backlash from this in his career and socially for the rest of his life.
They can take our lives but they can never take our freedom.

Edit: I guess Bucky deleted the above response as it no longer shows up. (And hurray! the edit function has returned!)

That's a precious reply, right there!

The only thing that surprises me is that this surprises people. Theres a whole world out there outside of Crivitz, Wisconsin. But only for those willing to leave the county.
August 19th, 2018 at 9:16 AM ^
He should’ve taken the blue pill

You mean Coach Chryst didn't just have him tell his mother?
August 18th, 2018 at 11:51 PM ^
Which player was this? Those dumb spartys keep telling me that Derptonio told them to tell his mother that he was kicked off the team. I want to show them since theyre obviously still on the team.

If he is found innocent of the charges, then what recourse does he have against his accusers and the university?
How can he recover?
