Ohio State football journalist Jeff Snook interviewed both Zach Smith's mother and Courtney Smith's mother. According to Snook, Courtney Smith's mother believes that Courtney is lying about the abuse:

I mean, am I wrong? I could go to any number of message boards and find a strong majority of OSU fans in staunch support of Meyer. So if the majority are not in support of him or are condemning his actions in some way, they sure aren't making that known.

The biggest difference between most OSU fans and most UM fans on this issue is OSU fans haven't rushed to judgment, UM fans have. And that's natural when it comes to your team versus your rival, so I'm not condemning either. Of course UM fans think it's black and white and want Meyer gone, without knowing all the facts. Of course OSU fans want to believe Meyer didn't enable abuse, and will wait to see the process through. And to the point by DC, if the situations were reversed, of course UM fans would wait for all the facts. That's not enabling abuse, that's being logical. Your hatred for OSU makes you illogical on this topic, whether you realize it or not. If this article was about Courtney's mom saying ZS is an abuser, I'm guessing the comments here would be slightly different. My guess is most of you care far more about Meyer being fired due to the success of OSU, than you do about the greater good. I don't expect many to admit that though. UM fans, ask yourself an honest question, if it somehow was proven Zach Smith did nothing wrong, and/or Meyer did nothing wrong, would you be disappointed or relieved?

For one thing we use coolers for their intended purpose - keeping food and beverages cool, not as a porta-john. Secondly, we treat all our opponents with a modicum of sportsmanship not like you inbred toothless savages.

Snook has published four books covering Ohio State football, including “What It Means to Be a Buckeye.” The foreword of that book was written by Urban Meyer, who opened by praising Earle Bruce, who died in April and is the grandfather of Zach Smith and father of Lynn Bruce.
“In looking back, it seems it all came together for me when I came to Ohio State in 1986 to accept a graduate assistant position with Earle Bruce. I have to thank him for that. To this day, we are very, very close.”
Zach's mom (Earle Bruce's daughter) went on the radio today on 105.7 The Zone in Columbus and adamantly denied her son was an abuser. Said she knows FOR A FACT and blamed her for any issues. Saying she was the aggressor and the ex wife was never touched violently and if she ever had marks it was because he had to move her out of the way because "she raised him to respect women".
Man... now would be a great time for McMurphy to drop some new pics/texts right about now.
At this point it might be worse for OSU if they keep Meyers. It's not like MSU's issues where nobody cares. The whole nation will watch and know that they stood by the coach who knowingly kept a wife abuser on staff. +- 8-4 this year.

I live in Columbus. My previous employer may or may not have had a contract to provide services to employees and their families at OSU. I know some people that know some people. This isn't me victim blaming or even stating an opinion(until the end), just saying what's been relayed to me. And not saying these things are absolute facts.
*They both have serious alcohol issues.
*Courtney has been disassociated from her mother for quite awhile.
*Zach vacationed with his children and Courtney's parents within the last year.
*She showed up at team functions more than once belligerent.
*They've been saying for awhile to wait until all the information comes out. Not so much as a defense of Urban, but to show how difficult/murky the situation is/was for the school to handle.
*These people have also hated Zach personally and professionally for years because he's a douchebag and a shit coach.

I think Urban should be fired. But I also understand the position OSU is in as far as buyout and firing with cause if Urban did follow protocol. He stepped in a big pile of shit at B1G media day. I'm pretty sure he's safe tho.

I struggled with whether to post it, Comrade, for just that reason. As you will see I was very careful and restrained in characterizing the content of the article, but I thought it was important for our community to be aware of, since the OSU investigators will certainly be aware of this point of view.

This article doesn’t quote Courtney’s mom at all. It’s Zach Smith’s mom saying that she said it—commonly known as hearsay and inadmissible in Court. I’m shocked that Smith’s mother would actually defend him and throw blame at a Courtney. She’s filed all of these police reports and his mother never told the police that she said she would make up allegations to bring down a Meyer and Smith. This is a story of convenience.

The part about Courtney Smith's mother (Tina Carano) was a text exchange:
When asked if she believed her daughter’s claims of physical abuse, she replied, “I believe that Zach was removing himself from an argument and I do not believe he intentionally abused her. I do not believe he actually intentionally swung or punched her … no.”
As far as ever hearing her daughter say she would “take Zach down,” she replied, “Yes.”
And when Meyer’s name was mentioned, she added, “I cannot quote her exact words as I don’t remember them word for word, but something to that extent. This is my daughter and I love her but I do not approve of what she has done and how it was done."

I honestly feel bad for UM fans. The biggest opportunity in many years comes around for their beloved team to potentially defeat their evil rivals and as more information comes to surface, this opportunity is slowly drifting out of their reach. I don’t post often rarely login in but I have a stupid question. Twice from OSU I’ve heard Zach didn’t abuse her, she was the aggressor, he was removing himself from the situation. If that’s the story, then wasn’t he the abused one and not the abuser? If that’s true would Urban have had to report that to Title IX because an employee was being abused in that scenario and he knew of the situation. So if Zach bet her and Urban kept him on staff he’s a POS and should be fired for his Morality clause. If shes crazy and was abusing Zach, as some OSU people are claiming and that does fall under title IX and if urban didnt report it to title IX shouldn’t he be fired?

I love how OSU fans keep going onto other teams message boards. And their only argument is wins and losses.. if your coach preaches respect to women and has it painted in his locker room and allows even an “accused” wife beater to remain on his staff.. let’s face it you are all the biggest losers there could possibly be.. pounding the podium and preaching respect but allowing things to keep going and waving signs supporting abusers without any concern for the victims.. we’re talking about domestic violence where a woman was beaten. How would you feel if that were your wife or mother or daughter? You are horrible people doing what horrible people do, when they get caught they try to burn down the rest of the work with them.
Also keep keep up to date and read everything yourself.. the last few things snook has claimed have been pure lies.. including who someone else’s source is. He was wrong about the source and if he any ounce of real journalist in him he wouldn’t try to put someone else source on blast WITHOUT ANY EVIDENCE. And his text message exchange with her mother is half the story.. McMurphy actually called her and asked her questions IRL and got the text message exchange between her and Zach where she called him out for being a cheater and abuser.. you’re all so blind you only see what you want
