Exactly right. Spartan question was for no other purpose than to have that question heard. It didn't elicit any meaningful answer, and it wasn't intended to elicit a meaningful answer. Pure trolling.
Traveling now and can’t watch ... what questions was JH asked by the OSU and MSU reporters ?
OSU guy said something like, "Michigan hasn't beat OSU in six years. How much do you hear about that, and how will you start having success in the rivalry?"
MSU guy was more of a dick. He started off by saying Harbaugh was the most hyped coach ever in college football, mentioned how Michigan hasn't finished better than 3rd in the East, talked about the 1-5 record vs. rivals... then I think the question was basically, "How are you going to demonstrate to Michigan fans you're on the right path?"
I'm not familiar with the MSU guy, but he said his name is Crowley Sullivan. I looked him up and he has an impressive resume: https://www.linkedin.com/in/crowley-sullivan-117a4298. I'm guessing his Spartans Wire gig might be more of a fun side job for him, so he has no problem getting his rocks off by insulting Harbaugh.
I'd love to think that asking stupid ass questions like that could get you black balled in an industry that claims to garner a lot of respect, but the journalism field hasn't really acted respectably over the last few years.
Sorry, but what industry garners a lot of respect? College football blogging?
I thought that the 11W question from Dan Hope was fine, and I thought Harbaugh's answer was fine. How could the question, or the answer, have been any more direct? It is probably the question that the 11W readership wanted to be asked. I don't get the upset in this instance. I don't think it upset Harbaugh in the slightest. I thought his answer was good.
What I REALLY don't get is why MGoBlog isn't making a bigger deal out of Harbaugh's endorsement of a 16-team playoff. The new format isn't my cup of tea, and so I may have missed it. Has anyone analyzed the Harbaugh comment on a 16-team playoff?
I think it is a nutty idea; and one that I suspect that the University of Michigan as an institution might not support. Is there a thread or a post on this subject?
HARBAUGH showing great restraint talking to idiot questions from osu and msu writers back to back...
So he mentioned every qb except Peters. What does that mean?
Huh? Trevor Woods asked the question, didn't mention Peters but Harbaugh answered the question, with "Brandon Peters also improved this spring," in between his comments on Shea Patterson & Dylan McCaffrey.
"Shea Patterson played really well in spring. Peters was also improved this spring. McCaffrey made the most improvement of any QB on our roster. Milton did very well, and has a bright future."
NSFW.
Man that was a waste of time. Harbaugh said absolutely nothing and I'm fine with it. He looks pretty locked in and hopefully taking his "Just coach the team" mantra very seriously. I believe this is going to be an extremely intense fall camp.
I think you're right. Harbaugh is no fool. He knows both his and Michigan's reputations are really on the line this year and he's way to competitive to go down without a fight. A lot was made of how intense his first fall camp was in 2015 ... need some more of that.
PRESS CONFERENCE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FY7k0bLVgHE
I couldn't be more happy about how much of a waste of time this was. Old Coach Harbaugh is back. Can't wait to see him explode onto the field in South Bend, start solving problems with aggression, and really pump up his team.
Harbaugh was very different when questioned by the Big Ten network guys. Good questions and detailed answers along with lots of smiles.
Reminds of of the Cowturd interview. Ask good questions, get good answers.
Our coaches seemed a little bit out of it at times
The fact of that Spartan's Wire "journalist" had some serious smugness and contempt going on while asking that question. Anyone else notice that? I mean my gosh....

Yes, the OSU guys question I definitely get why it had to be asked and was a fair question , imo. but the sparty guy was all smug and had to ask a lengthy sparty -like question that was pointless to ask after he answered the last one
you notice no question is ever asked like this. hey coach before mork won his first game against michigan, the wolverines had won 32 of the previous 40 games with msu never winning two games in a row. what happened?
My favorite part is the guy in the background at 6:13 of the Frost interview that is picking his nose. Hope that's no one on here.
Moses was a picker.
What's he going to say? Yeah, we'll have a good year, provided we don't have to turn to our 3rd string quarterback again while our defense fades in the 4th quarter against every opponent with a pulse. Any questions?
I love Coach Harbaugh, but I wish he wore a suit and tie to this event.
why is it weird? he looks like a football coach , not a used car salesman.
Ya, I get it. And Jim owns what he does, wears, etc.
Football coach at Media Days wears game attire. But, what does a Football coach wear at church? To bed?
Why do the players wear suits and ties?
LMFAO at the douchbag sparty. That was some weak sauce.
Did Harbaugh speak with btn guys? I can’t find a video of it to watch?
Yes. They asked him about the France trip. That took about a third of the interview. Very good back and forth. “Experiential learning.” They asked about the offensive line. He mentioned, in order, Ruiz, Bredeson, Runyan, JBB, Onwenu and Spanellis. He said JBB has turned the corner. He gets it that this could be the end of his football career. Getting his weight right. The other third was about the new redshirt role and the transfer rule.
Make all of those quarters and give another quarter to discussion of Shea. But the France stuff was a little longer than the other topics.
Listened to Harbaugh’s press conference on the way home. Was so blatantly obvious the OSU and MSU reporters were trying to throw jabs at him wherever they could. Harbaugh wasn’t going to give them the satisfaction.
Michigan Men, Higdon, Kinnel and Winovich, spoke well, said the right things, and FIRED me up.
We are going to have a GREAT year.
Go Blue.
Higdon impresses me as a leader. That’s good to have strong leadership for our offense.
Kudos to Harbaugh. Douches from 11 Warriors and SpartanPride or some such, both trolled him with questions rubbing in that he's 0-3 and 1-5 against MSU and OSU into their questions and JH handled their nonsense with aplomb, gently brushing their questions aside and showing not the slightest effect they were hoping.
Kickoffs are gonna suck this season.
