USA today confuses lil bro with U of M.
Not really. What they confused is where Dwan Mathis originally committed thinking it was us, not them.
BTW - am I the only one who hates the fact that threads now only have links and not pictures they way they used to when we had the old, crappy website instead of this awesome new one?
He seemed to get that Mathis was originally committed to MSU, he just made up the fact that him switching to OSU means we also missed out on him.
yeah, U-M was making no effort in pursuing Mathis and already has their QB for the year, so it was big nothing post .... it almost makes me think the author originally mistook Michigan for MSU here and published the article as such, was then called out, and instead of completely deleting that section, he just tried to spin it in a way to avoid deleting half his article. [face palm]
There are lots of little things like that with the new website that make it less enjoyable to post.
Nope
If they would have kept the old site but just updated it so 503 errors were eliminated, I would be perfectly happy. This site is just too stark in appearance. Fewer videos and pics. Just not as enjoyable.
Did the guys create an opinion/input thread on the new site format? If so I missed it.
Anyway, I agree with HM - I’m in no way afraid of change, in fact love it. However the new site is much less enjoyable. I definitely stop by much much less than I used to. It’s less intuitive, the Board is screwy in that moving beyond the 5 or 6 posts in the right banner gives me the complete history of the board going back to 2008 rather than just the most recent first. I predict the new site really decreases traffic, sorry to say. I never complained about the old format which was likely the majority. The vocal minority likely got under the mods’ skin. Oh well - we get what we get. On the upside it’s forced me out into other UM sites that now get the attention MGoBlog used to get from me.
Same here. I visit other sites I didn’t bother with before. The new site is unreadable on my iPhone.
Doe this help?
I'm right here with you mGrow, I'm a firm believer in leaving well enough alone. Spending way less time on the new site.
I'm way confused with that article. They state MSU lost him, but that UM also lost him? Like UM was after him and he went to OSU so both MSU and UM lost him at the same time? Very oddly written article.
Harbaugh lost a recruit, that was actually committed to msu........ Maybe their editors are on vacation.
That's just the byproduct of living in the post-fact world. Besides it's not officially true until you hear it 5 more times.
The writer was really stretching to justify getting Harbaugh’s name/picture in this article for the extra clicks.
Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner!
Maybe they couldn't find a picture of Dantonio that didn't make them either ill or laugh.
I expected this to be one of those cases where they used the wrong logo or something, but this guy just seemed to make up a story and run with it. Did Mathis even have an offer from Michigan?
It read to me like you thought that Michigan had also offered Mathis and was also losing him to Ohio State. I have no idea if Michigan ever actually offered Mathis however.
DGM06 nailed it. Guy twisted and turned, stretched and pulled the story so that he could include the picture of Harbaugh for a few extra clicks.
Seems like the writer's pathetic little scheme worked - they must be using ESPN's football recruiting editors.
Yeah I agree. I mean he probably could've gotten just as many clicks by focusing on our commitments, and maybe mentioning Dobbs going to MSU. Guess he was looking for a common thread to connect Michigan, MSU, and OSU
Huh?
According to 247, Michigan did not offer Mathis.
Also according to this article.
U-M clicks >> MSU clicks
This is one the most poorly written articles I've ever seen
Yeah I don’t recall UM even going after him that hard - if at all. Our QB recruiting is doing well.
Disrespekt
I’m here for the disrepekt. Jim Harbonio.
I don't think UM fans or Midwesterners generally realize how easily others confuse schools with states in their names. A few months ago I got negged for suggesting that the scandals at MSU might lead some national outlets to confuse it with Michigan, and the response didn't surprise me. After all, MGoBlog is DEVOTED to an intense focus that makes confusion seem ludicrous. But outside their own fan bases and regions, people easily mix up Michigan and Michigan State, just as others mix up Arizona and Arizona State.
My six year old doesn’t understand why/doesn’t believe there’s a Michigan State because we already have Michigan. His ignorance is both a brilliant insult to Sparty as a youngster and an illustration of where too many adult brains level off.
Typical. USA Today is about as useful and informative as an MSU Diploma.
Wait there are still newspapers
