OT - Michigan Football Wings
Looking for some help from the board on this one. My twins had to be fitted for helmets because of having flat spots on the back of their heads. I made sure my son Kaiden got a blue one (Its royal blue, it was the darkest blue they had) with the hopes of putting the Michigan Football Wings on it. I have the yellow vinyl to do this, but I run into a road block when trying to find a template that I can use for the wings. Does anyone out there know where I can find a template that I can use?

is awesome. My youngest (a girl) had a flat spot and had to have a helmet for 18 mos. Since she's of the female persuasion - we went with tie-died pink...but the Winged Helmet idea is AWESOME.

These guys are actually in the northern Chicago 'burbs (close to where I store my camper). Decals are currently on specal (15% off) until April 1. Total cost for one decal is $12 (with shipping and IL Sales tax). We'll see what it looks like on my snowboard helmet!

you can find some design online, transfer it to a template and use it to trace out on some maize colored tape or sticky sheets from Michaels or some other arts and crafts store. Shouldn't be too difficult...

If at any time Football Wings becomes OT on this board, we won't even half to worry about it being OT because the blog will not exist any longer

The only issue with those two suppliers is a minimum 15 set order. Award Decals looks pretty good (to me).

Exactly. That gives you 14 times to mess up!

My friend just did this for his kid.

Was it The Impression Center on Minnesota (in one of Troy's many expansive industrial parks) perchance? I've used them for shirts before and I think they do a wide range of customs for athletic products. I could be mistaken though.
In any case, there definitely need to be updates on this one. Would love to see how these turn out for the OP.

numbers but i am going to do helmet stickers, for each month that he has been alive...

I am in the minority but I love the helmet stickers. That's how the helmets were when I was a kid and went to my first game. Nostalgic.

The OP's Google must be broken.

I cannot stand that guy. He's the one that down votes "Hello" Baseball, Hockey, LAX and all women's "Hello" posts as well. He's had several user names and I wish the mods would just ban him already.

Which ones?

He used to have user name "ihaveagnarlyface" and there were a couple of others before that.

might be easier to buy one off of ebay and use it as a template. like this one:

going to use this one but i'm not buying anything. i have the picture saved down to my desk top and printed off 2 different sizes of it (bonus of being at work doing this). now when i get home i am going to see which size will fit better on his helmet and go from there...
thanks for the link...

then you'll have a real Michigan helmet.
And your kids will love it each time you put another one on for something they've done.

going back and pos'ing your posts and negging everyone that called your douchiness to the table. You are truly a bag of asses.

I applaud this Father's attempt to assure his children are forever true blue....
A conversation in Mr. GOBLUE4EVER's house in 16 years:
Twin 1: Dad, I just got into Northwestern, Yale, and Michigan. I want to talk to you about where I want to go to school.
Twin 2: And Dad, I just go my acceptance letters from U. Chicago, Stanford, and Michigan..."
GOBLUE4EVER: Ok, why don't you grab that picture album of you two wearing your helmets while cuddling together in your crib and then we'll talk....
January 30th, 2014 at 2:08 PM ^
and i already said that they can go to any school that they want as long as the colors are not green and white or scarlet and grey...
but we are hoping for a basketball scholarship (son) and a softball scholarship (daughter) to michigan for both of them when the time comes... :)

You can pull out the old Henry Ford type line:
"You can go to any school as long as it is Michigan"

We had a consultation with professionals about having the same kind of helmet fitted and were told that there are people around town here that "specialize" in painting designs on the helmets for kids. I bet if you asked the office you are going to they could recommend someone - might be more permanent for it to be painted rather than use a decal.
And what Don suggested is tremendous - use helmet stickers to reward good behavior!!! (if he/she is old enough to understand).

We got a helmet for my daughter and she wore it for approximately 5 minutes. She's older now and doesn't have a flat spot anymore even without the aid of the helmet. Worst $2000 i've ever spent.
Any other parents run into this? I have several friends who have been told to buy these helmets but they make the kid miserable and then their skull adjusts anyway. Seems like some sort of scam.
January 30th, 2014 at 3:24 PM ^
is VERY expensive but luckily my wife found a grant program and they covered the cost in full for both kids... as for the skull reshapping on its own, yes that does happen. but then there are times that flat spot comes back. our twins also have torticollis which means that their necks automatically make their heads turn back to left when they are lying on their backs. they are currently going to phyical therapy for this also...
the twins love the helmets, and our daughter loves to head butt me all of the time with hers..
