Moderator Action Sticky #3

Submitted by Brian on

Hello. The previous mod action sticky was cumbrously long so this is a new one. What this thread is for:

This thread is an ad-hoc way of tracking what threads and comments get removed. Mods that remove a thread should post the title here with a brief reason as to why the thread is gone.

NOTE: if you leave an irrelevant comment in this thread it will be deleted.

Update: There's now a Mod Action Sticky IV.

Are "girl pix" threads allowed on MGBlog?

One of the great things about this site is that it isn't other sites and actually tries to maximize the amount of quality, informative content. To that end, while there is no specific prohibition, the reaction you would likely get would show that such things are generally discouraged, if I may put it politely.

Recruting impact of Nussmeier hire

There was a thread on this just last night. We're already running low on "Nussmeier Impact" threads and it has not even been a day yet, folks.

How much does the new OC change your expectations for 2014?

There was indeed a thread earlier today but now off the front page which essentially covered this very topic. Not a bad idea as first thread for the OP, but it had already been done today.

Just Released - Michael Ferns Highlight Tape UAA Game

Although the mentioned clip was not the sole focus of the highlight thread for the UAA game, the Ferns clip was indeed part of the mix in there.

Sorry I am actually on a Mac and can never remember how to copy links.

Anyway he registered early this morning and has 5 pretty incoherent posts. Not sure if he drunk and a troll or just drunk. I wanted to bring him to your attention.

Can we get the 97.1 Foster thread zapped? Looked like we had a policy of pretty much ignoring them, and no good can come of it.

Disgusting comment by Terry Foster today

I read it again this morning and this is likely better if it isn't on the board - approaching 97.1 talk from any angle generally doesn't get good results here, mainly because they say things simply to get everyone's dander up and sometimes it works on MGoBlog sadly.

I go to the mall for a few hours and then....

Disappointing

What's disappointing, of course, is that it is very obvious that the writer not being given credit by the OP is Drew Sharp. No Drew Sharp, even if there is Drew Sharp.

Who would you add to this list of D-bag coaches?

A dated Bleacher Report link falls outside the narrow "Bleacher Report" exception, which is a VERY narrow exception. That's another site we try to avoid giving hits around here.

OT - Arbitrator suspends Alex Rodriguez for 2014 season

Duplicate thread. This one was just a few threads above the original discussion on the front page.

And I won't protest.

But I have to say, if only in defense of innocent newbies who might not know of the real malignancy of Drew Sharp, and the No-Sharp rules; Sharp has (incredibly) outdone himself lately in the depth and the pointless hatefulness of his Michigan-trolling.  Hard to resist shooting back.

Drew Sharp writes article ripping David Brandon

Let's look at it this way - it is difficult to be outraged at that which does not exist, right? We should look at Sharp like that, I think.

The "Nuss is Legend" Thread

I believe the the professional accomplishments of Doug Nussmeier have been well-discussed on the site in the last several days. Let us not ruin the momentum of such discussion.

OT: How smart are you? Free IQ test

If there such a thing as "a little too OT", I think that this thread probably is in that category. Also, this is probably not bound to produce a lot of good discussion on an irreverent blog that is well-aware of the ongoing debates in cognitive psychological circles at defining "intelligence".

Poor damn Minny (lose starting QB Nelson)

Quite poetically, this thread pushed the one that was posted yesterday off the front page. It is a rare but amusing phenomenon on MGoBlog, to be sure.

(Humour) Purported Purloined Hoke Texts at 11W

This one can probably go now. I left it for the better part of the day in the even that someone should find the humor that was lost on the rest of us, but alas, it seems it is universally not funny as I had assumed.

I'm afraid that there is really no good explanation as to why I would let this bother me now, when this screen name has been in use, apparently, for 1 year and 21 weeks.  (I certainly never protested "Glen Mason's Hot Wife," for instance.)

But really...  What is the point?  If it is an inside joke, it is so far inside that it escapes me completely.

There may be a great number of other rude screen names that have escaped my attention. But this one just seems so unseemly; I'd be ashamed to ever have a conversation with Gary (one of the nicest guys ever to grace the Michigan football family, and by far one of the most fun -- along with Jerry Hanlon -- to talk to) and mention MGoBlog.

I see no reason to punish the member in question; this seems to me to be purely a matter of good taste and no other "rules."  In court, one of the most basic rules of evidence is that something can't come in if it is "more prejudicial than probative."  Is this a case of somethig being "more inexplicably insulting, than funny"?

It's a joke in bad taste. There's a completely untrue story that's been making rounds for a long time that a certain SEC coach who was speculated to be a likely Michigan coach during the last two coaching searches slept with GM's spouse, and therefore that coaching candidate isn't being considered.

Absent facts, people will make up some incredibly mean things, and this one just won't go away. There's no way it's true, and even if it was there was never an opportunity for such a thing to affect the coaching searches.

I haven't changed the guy's handle, but I've thought about it before too.

MSU commit Jayru Campbell Arrested

There was a thread on this previously which later was locked due to some over the top talk. The link to the video is in there, I believe, if you so choose to watch. I am sure threads about this will appear for a few days, but as with other things even vaguely MSU-related (for Campbell is an MSU commit), the interest level in MSU things on this blog is only so high.

I feel childish bringing this up, but seems like someone is drive-by negging everything I write.  I don't really care in terms of points, but it's the type of bratty/troll-ish behavior that I figure this action sticky is interested in keeping an eye on.  I don't have a name, but I figure you have access to the voting DB.  Feel free to delete this post if irrelevant.
