The Snowflake Thread: Dave Brandon

Submitted by htownwolverine on
Many of us, myself included, think Dave has a lot of blame in this debacle of a coaching staff. Is he going to do what needs to be done if his coach won't at year end?
Am I off base?
Thoughts, suggestions?

I'm not saying what we are seeing is very inspiring for Hoke, but just because he doesn't have the tools to make us successful during this transition period doesn't mean he won't be successful once his recruits are a little older.  Hoke has recruited very well and deserves the chance to see those recruits actually hit the field as upperclassman.  He deserves 2 more years in my opinion.  In the mean time I'm not sure we keep Borges and Funk because what they are doing is less excusable as adjustments simply aren't being made.  Unlike the head coach, they are responsible for the scheme and playcalling.  I think Brandon should start to put some pressure on Hoke regarding the offensive staff this offseason, but I don't think he should be putting Hoke under the hot seat.  If next year is not better, then Hoke should be on the hot seat, then if 2015 is not any better he should be gone.  But, he deserves more time considering his recruiting.

FWIW is Tom Brady retiring any time soon...can he be our OC???

He's regressing. The longer he's been here, the worse the offense (and team) has gotten. You only have the players for 4 years. His best Big Ten win might be Minnesota this year. The "his guys" talk is ridiculous. He had his best season when he had Rich Rod's guys (and a weak schedule).

I'll just say this: Domino's pizza is mediocre at best. I would honestly choose Little Caesar's over Domino's. Their 'Brooklyn Style' pizza is a travesty.

Yea, FIRE BORGES!!! Then we won't give up 47 points to Indiana. Then we won't give up a game winning TD every time there's an opportunity for one. Then our OL won't let 2-3 defenders in the backfield every snap. Then our secondary wont give a 10 yd cushion every snap allowing apposing QBs to establish a rhythm. Then our team wont play like a bunch if soft pansies. THEN, everything will be SOOO much better.

What I honestly don't get is why Borges was brought along with Hoke in the first place - DB went all out to get an elite DC, and screw the guy hoke had been with the last couple years. Why didn't he do the same thing at OC?

We had a terrific game day experience today that I do believe is unique to Michigan and indirectly DB is in charge of that.

Specifically: My father has been battling cancer for the last two years and it has led to a very invasive knee replacement which has left him unable to walk without at least a cane for the better part of two years. He made it to a game last year early in the year but this year it has been really tough for him to get the stamina to do the game day thing.

Today he was determined to get in the Big House for his 58th consecutive season. We parked as close as we could to the stadium on Brown street and walked to the corner of Brown where we were told a golf cart would be available (like, immediately) to get us up to our section, including bypassing the line to get in. This saved my Dad a lot of walking which will help him get up tomorrow and not be incredibly sore. These golf carts just go around and pick up anyone trying to get to the stadium who isn't walking well due to age/injury.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I have a hard time imagining any other sporting event we go to providing that service and being so considerate about it.

I have a great story to tell. A woman who works pretty high up at the University told us straight up at the tailgate today that almost everyone thinks Dave Brandon is a huge arrogant piece of crap. Apparently when they built that sign seen from Stadium Blvd they didn't even consider Ann Arbor zoning codes. Now Ann Arbor is trying to get the University to take it down, and apparenlty Brandon said something like ''I don't have to answer to the city of Ann Arbor, only the state of Michigan.''

The amount of hate nearly everyone around us in the stadium have for this guy is incredible. All he's about is WOW EXPERIENCE AND THE BRAND so he can make more money. I hope he's real proud of himself when there's sections upon sections of empty seats next year when the home schedule is shit and this is the product we get.

We were also joking that he'll probably force people to pay $75 for a ticket to the Slippery Rock game next year and force people to buy them in the ticket package, although it's not much of a joke since it probably will actually happen.

Eat shit Brandon.

I detest Dave Brandon and think he is to blame for a lot of disturbing trends at Michigan, but I will not call this coaching staff a "debacle" unless they are performing badly in 2015.

I am much more a fan of the spread, but Bama has gotten away without using it and are doing pretty well.  Of course, they treat recruits to a lot of money and "hostesses," too, and pretty much get any player they want because of it, but the bottom line is that a good team can still perform with the offense Borges is using.

I think the problem is that the program doesn't quite have dominating personnel on the field yet.  In 2015, we will see what Hoke and Borges can do.  Until then, their report card gets an "incomplete."
