Moderator Action Sticky #3
Hello. The previous mod action sticky was cumbrously long so this is a new one. What this thread is for:
This thread is an ad-hoc way of tracking what threads and comments get removed. Mods that remove a thread should post the title here with a brief reason as to why the thread is gone.
NOTE: if you leave an irrelevant comment in this thread it will be deleted.
Update: There's now a Mod Action Sticky IV.

Though I expect him to be back. At least this is temporary relief.

Viable OC Candidates?
We have to put a cap on this. There are numerous threads over the last few days which have been created for this discussion.
OT - MNF Miami vs. TB
Executive decision here. Normally, it would stay, but I am thinking that we're still looking at spillover angst threads, so I am taking it down just to help aid in keeping more Michigan content on the board for now.
If Borges gets replaced who do you want to replace him?
This was in response to another thread. Again, we're capping this one.
So lets say Borges is let go - who's next?
Interesting backup plan. Well-played.
Stop bitching and do something about it
Apologies to the OP, as this was a better-reseach effort than anything previous. We have had several of these in the last few days, and this one - while far better reasoned - is likely to generate the same responses from people. Nothing personal.
November 12th, 2013 at 3:19 PM ^
Sorry for creating extra work guys. Just having a bit of fun on a Tuesday.
November 12th, 2013 at 3:27 PM ^
I actually laughed, but it has just gotten to a point where we need to just not have this discussion for a few days at least, for everyone's sake. Indeed, I bet if we printed out the response chain to all the Borges threads for the last two weeks, we would have ended up contributing very little that was new.
November 12th, 2013 at 6:37 PM ^
Al Borges says this is the first year running his system...WTF??
I do not foresee good things for this thread. That being said, the least the OP could have done was post an actual quote. Someone did, but it was buried in the thread and ignored by people who just wanted to complain some more.
November 13th, 2013 at 11:10 AM ^
It's not because he disagrees with me, he is, by definition trolling. His history supports this within the context of every comment he's made in the last 5 weeks. And he continues to deliberately twist things to provoke people.

Hope and Fear: Coaching change scenarios
I am fairly certain that we've had this discussion before. What I really should have done - and I apologize to the board for this - is create daily Coaching Snowflake threads. Then again, it may not have stopped the torrent.

George Campbell Appreciation Thread
We probably should cap the appreciation threads, although they are appreciated, to keep some of the other content on the front page. Well-played though.
Devin Gardner appreciation thread
I read this a second time - far more carefully - and yeah, you can't really have an appreciation thread which questions some of the subject's decisions and also hurls insults at a certain coordinator. I don't think it works like that.
November 14th, 2013 at 4:09 PM ^
November 14th, 2013 at 5:45 PM ^
The fact that the snowflakes appreciation thread - an attempt to consolidate all the appreciation - was deleted, suggests that the MGoHierarchy WANTS MOAR appreciation threads.
November 14th, 2013 at 6:40 PM ^
Well then, GO FOR IT!

http://mgoblog.com/users/footballfanatic-0
He might have had a point before he fell into the "your coaches suck at recruiting."
Anyone who is looking at an opposing fan's board for the first time after "beating" them is looking to make trouble.
November 14th, 2013 at 6:53 PM ^
MGoWriters Appreciation Thread
It's a nice gesture and I totally agree with you, but in the interests of trying to maximize the less appreciative content, if you will, this will come down. Sorry about that.
November 14th, 2013 at 11:06 PM ^
It is in the BBrown Predicting The Hand post.
I fully admit to not liking Brown, but at least I was being semi-constructive in my criticism of him. I might have stepped out of line with the twitter snark, but in my defense I did it after Brown got snarky with me.
That was completely fine, but then Don decided to go off. Just wondering what the rules are on that.
November 15th, 2013 at 5:57 AM ^
Get rid of the NIT banners?
I left this overnight to give the board ample opportunity to provide some feedback, and as I believed would happen (and I agree), let the team honor all of its achievements.
November 15th, 2013 at 5:03 PM ^
Don't boo, but if others do...
I can put this back if it causes an uproar, but this is another discussion that we've had numerous times in numerous threads over the past week. It doesn't seem productive to have it again right now.
November 15th, 2013 at 8:46 PM ^
So why exactly has Don's post not been at least removed? I thought personal attacks were against the rules.
November 16th, 2013 at 4:37 PM ^
Impressive.
November 17th, 2013 at 3:54 PM ^
There's unforunately at least one more poster who needs to be taken care of:
http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/7-years-ago-today#comment-2276240
Already was sent to Bolivia, but obviously didn't learn his lesson.
November 17th, 2013 at 4:01 PM ^
Saw it just now. The blogger in question will not be blogging here for the time being (i.e., until they decide to set up a new account).

We'll stick with the snowflake thread rule for basketball too. Consistency in management and all that.

Ohio unis
I think we've taken the uniform discussion as far as it needs to go for now.
No alternate unis for The Game confirmed
We'll just keep one of them, but good news all the same.
November 19th, 2013 at 2:25 PM ^
but the Tony Picard thread is just full of worn out fat jokes, and the kid is in high school. Poor form, IMHO.

http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/ot-jameis-winstons-dna-linked-police-allege…
It's full of the expected internet comments: people presuming that the accuser is a liar and that the accused is guilty. It has almost no redeeming qualities.
November 21st, 2013 at 3:11 PM ^
I kind of tend to agree, a lot of the comments have gotten ugly. There's a reason I ran this by LSA2k this morning on Twitter before posting, to give him a heads up in case that happened. It'd probably be too much effort to clean up by deleting the bad posts from the good (and there were some informative and well thought out ones in there). Or, maybe just lock it instead of deleting so it won't get reposted again next week by someone else?
November 22nd, 2013 at 6:16 PM ^
His join date is somewhat recent but I'm sure he is a reincarnation of a previously banned user. Anyway, the guy is melting down in the FSU thread and it's just pathetic.
Here is a great example of the amazing insight being provided:

November 22nd, 2013 at 6:21 PM ^
Actually, this time I am ahead of the curve - he is blocked as of a moment ago.
The early-season open threads apparently need to be titled "DRAW IRRATIONAL CONCLUSIONS BASED ON ZERO DATA. COMMENCE".
November 22nd, 2013 at 10:34 PM ^
Might want to keep an eye on this guy what with the join date of the past few hours and some questionable first posts, including this gem:

So is something go to be done about TheLastHoke constantly trolling threads with GIFs and paragraphs of useless drivel? If he doesn't like the discussion, acting like a 10 year old is nothe way to handle it. It just clogs up the thread.
Thanks.
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:35 PM ^
Yeah, because "clogging up" the open threads (which are filled with inherently trite and worthless posts) with a few gifs ( which I haven't posted any today) and posts in response to the endless amount of "POSTER X SHOULD KILL HIMSELF!" "PLAYER X SHOULD HAVE HIS SCHOLARSHIP PULLED!" "COACH Y SHOULD BE FIRED!" is the problem.
You're mad because we lost, and so you have to point your finger at something, and that something happens to be me.
You can't tell me you combed through that entire thread and came to the conclusion that I'm the problem with a straight face when half of the comments in it are absolutely disgusting.
Because of my stance on the coaches, I can hardly make a single post on the board without someone responding, "LOL THELASTHOKE, WHAT A FUCKIN' IDIOT!" Forgive me if it gets a little tiresome.
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:39 PM ^
You have a mightly inflated view of yourself. Seriously, no one is pointing a figure at you like you're some sort of martyr -- the shtick is just annoying as fuck.
Check the second half thread. I didn't see any of that stuff mentioned there except maybe in reference to coaches. I barely checked the main open thread, I only saw your work in the second half open thread and there was nothing like that in there at least when you started posting. I don't agree with attacks on the players but coaches are fair game -- they're grown men getting paid a ton of money -- they should be criticzized when they're not doing their jobs.
I'm actually not mad we lost -- I fully expected it and predicted it in a different thread yesterday.
Again, your shtick is just stupid and does nothing.
November 23rd, 2013 at 4:12 PM ^
I've never made myself out to be some sort of martyr, or holier -than-thou. If you see me that way, it's on you, and you alone.
I think the mods can attest to the state of the open threads and live blogs more than anyone else on the board.
So, in short, you didn't see any of that stuff mentioned, except you did see that stuff mentioned about the coaches and players, but you barely checked at all? OK
I agree that there is plenty of criticism to go around, I just disgree with the level of vitrol and toxicity when it comes to said criticism.
Also, if a person posts "FUCK PLAYER X OR COACH Y" and I post and eye rolling gif comment under their post, and then they respond "Fuck you too!" apparently, I'm the problem.
Here are some of the posts from the open threads, which you claimed weren't that bad, except you didn't really read them:
Kill yourself...
Courntey Avery He is a garbage as bitch go back to warming the bench u piece of shit
We have A sloppy piece of shit oc and fat sloppy head coach that won't tell al what to do. Grow a sack Brady u fucking dumbfuck

AVERY!!!! WTF?! I can play the ball better than that!
Poorly defended by Avery. Can we release him?
Avery is Ass
etc.. etc.. etc..
November 23rd, 2013 at 4:21 PM ^
So your response to bad stuff is only to make it worse?
This is nonsensical. I saw your posting in the second half thread. Before any of this stuff was mentioned or said in the second half thread you started out with
I think that the mods should only approve Lord of the Rings posts in the live blog. That would be better for everyone.
“It is not our part to master all the tides of the world, but to do what is in us for the succour of those years wherein we are set, uprooting the evil in the fields that we know, so that those who live after may have clean earth to till. What weather they shall have is not ours to rule.”
And then kept going on and on. It makes crap unberable to read. We already have to wade through so much crap to get to a good post we shouldn't have to wade through more.
November 23rd, 2013 at 4:35 PM ^
I don't think I'm making it any worse. My posts were a joke, and I think a lot of the posters who hate the "OMG EVERYTHING SUCKS KILL YOURSELVES!" appreciate the brevity at times. I know this, because people have told me as such.
Maybe you aren't receptive to those types of posts (you probably hated all of the "appreciation threads" in that case) and I can respect (appreciate?) that, but sometimes a little light in the darkness never hurt anyone, my dear Baggins.
And then kept going on and on. It makes crap unberable to read. We already have to wade through so much crap to get to a good post we shouldn't have to wade through more.
You actually think there are worthwhile posts in the open threads? Especially in the midst of an epic meltdown when everyone is losing their shit?
I don't believe you at all.
There is nothing redeemable in those threads. Hell, there isn't anything worth reading. It's just a bitch fest and a circle jerk of awfulness.
Regardless, the bottom line is, of all the people on the board to call out for terrible behavior, I think I'm number 2463554766567 on the list. It just seems like you've maybe had a beef with my posting for some time now, as evidenced by these statements:
"You have a mightly inflated view of yourself. Seriously, no one is pointing a figure at you like you're some sort of martyr -- the shtick is just annoying as fuck."
"Again, your shtick is just stupid and does nothing."
...and are choosing to bring it to light now because we lost, and you need to take that anger somewhere. Had we won, I doubt you make this post and I doubt we are having this conversation in the mod thread.

OSU Joke Thread
I think we got through that first wave of "AHHHHHHHH!" OK, but this one will probably get the OP nowhere right now. For everyone's good, we'll hold off on this. Nothing personal.
November 23rd, 2013 at 4:31 PM ^
Mr. Yost's thread is completely unnecessary on a game day. Frankly, most everything clogging the sidebar above the snowflakes threads are completely unnecessary right now.

The Reason To Fire Hoke Now
Yeah, long coaching snowflake. Please share these thoughts in that thread for now.
Breaking Point: Apathy
I read this a few times. I think the snowflake threads would be more appropriate in the end.
November 23rd, 2013 at 5:05 PM ^
No, it isn't. And you delete way too many threads you find ''unnecessary''. Not everyone wants to post in the snowflake thread.
November 23rd, 2013 at 5:27 PM ^
I understand that, of course, and indeed we've made exceptions throughout the weeks to let people blow of the steam and simply gone back to delete things a day or so later. The idea here is to manage the content and try to keep each thread realtively unique, not clutter the board with multiple overlapping "thoughts". Indeed, threads which talk about specific plays / concerns / issues are often left. If it means chunks of threads get deleted, that's fine if it means that we can maintain some form of decorum - "some" being the key word there.
