I'm thinking, maybe Baylor's offense is kinda good after all, and their defense maybe suprisingly so.
November 7th, 2013 at 9:50 PM ^
Stanford knows the snap count
November 7th, 2013 at 9:50 PM ^
Mariota not being completely healthy is hurting this Oregon O....ability of QB to take off is huge in this offense.
November 7th, 2013 at 10:01 PM ^
They held this offense to 14 pts in their own building last year. This is no fluke.

Everyone needs to remember that Oregon plays a speed based defense. When they face a physical team, they tend to struggle.
L to Stanford last year 17-14
L to LSU 40-27 in 2011
L to Auburn 22-19 in 2010
But they excel against teams similar to them, ie Oklahoma State and Kansas State and USC
November 7th, 2013 at 9:53 PM ^
True, but against Auburn they had folks wide open all night at the QB couldn't hit them...amd not to due pressure. That loss didn't seem to have much to do with facing a physical team.
November 7th, 2013 at 9:53 PM ^
Pretty sure Auburn was a spread.
November 7th, 2013 at 9:55 PM ^
Yes Auburn was a spread, but they were a run first spread. Teams that excel at running the ball seem to have success against the smaller Oregon D. And that enables them to control the clock and keep that Oregon O off the field.
November 7th, 2013 at 9:56 PM ^
I see what you mean.
November 7th, 2013 at 9:54 PM ^
They also lost 26-17 to Ohio in 2009.

FSU will go ahead of them.
November 7th, 2013 at 10:04 PM ^
Hopefully Baylor gets a look too.

98 yard drive on the way. (probably)
November 7th, 2013 at 9:56 PM ^
November 7th, 2013 at 9:57 PM ^
that isn't MANBALL.....
November 7th, 2013 at 9:58 PM ^
The Oregon OL looks like crap today. I'd rather emulate Stanford''s.
November 7th, 2013 at 10:05 PM ^
November 7th, 2013 at 10:20 PM ^
Cut blocking is not MANBALL.
November 7th, 2013 at 9:56 PM ^
I look at Stanford and Oregon and Baylor and I want to be mostly like Stanford with a substantial desire and abilty for trickeration.
On defense, I want to attack and light people up, this is what I want.
November 7th, 2013 at 9:59 PM ^
You might want to have a team like Oregon, but it ain't ever gonna happen. There are no teams like Oregon.
November 7th, 2013 at 10:06 PM ^
I want to be like 'Bama. Better passing game.

Man...I REALLY want Michigan to have the Stanford offense. I miss man ball.
November 7th, 2013 at 9:58 PM ^
Oregon's defense. Man they are mashing them.
LONG LIVE MANBALL
November 7th, 2013 at 9:59 PM ^
and miss having it for our offense
November 7th, 2013 at 10:00 PM ^
C'mon Mods...the two recent threads were totally applicable to and worthy of the MGoBoard!
November 7th, 2013 at 10:01 PM ^
Why can't we be Stanford?
...I was going to make this it's own thread, but the other "Stanford/Michigan" thread was deleted so I'll ask here.
November 7th, 2013 at 10:04 PM ^
Stanford is basically in year 7 of their rebuild. After bottoming out at 1-11 in 2006, Harbaugh went 4-8, 5-7, 8-5 and then 12-1 and fully manballed them up. David Shaw just continued the trend going 11-2, 12-2 and now 7-1.
We're only in year 3 of our rebuild. That's why we can't be Stanford right now. Building a manballrisifc O-line takes time unfortunately
November 7th, 2013 at 10:04 PM ^
Stanford didn't become this good over night. It took years for them to reach this level of dominace. Michigan can still be this team. They just need time and experience.(assuming that the coaching is good enough to reach this level.)

But the fact that many of these guys are still young makes me hesitate before agreeing with you.
November 7th, 2013 at 10:17 PM ^
why don't you give us some bench press numbers, 40 times, and verticals.
November 7th, 2013 at 11:16 PM ^
They're also RS JR, RS SR, RS SR, RS JR, SO (hat tip to Gameboy for gather that data in his diary)
November 7th, 2013 at 10:01 PM ^
is he getting positive reviews? anyone know?
November 7th, 2013 at 10:10 PM ^
He got some love on air a few minutes ago. They mentioned him and the fact that he was 300 and some odd lbs.
*Sigh*

I don;t think he is a starter. Came in for their BEEF package. I'm pretty sure Yankey is the starting ahead of him.

Stanford seems like a really well-coached team in general. Hogan is making all the right decisions. No one ever seems to miss an assignment on either side. It's cool to watch.

or they are getting tempoed big-time by Baylor. Or both.
