I wasn't complaining about Hoke's lack of anger.  I was saying the OP's description is a little off.

But yes, from one post on a blog, you can tell that I've "obviously" never been a good manager.  What a joke.

What would you suggest he say? Call out an individual in front of THE TEAM THE TEAM THE TEAM and destroy the very ideals he's been setting forth? Perhaps throw his hands up to a bunch of 18-22 year olds and blame everything on them but not take responsibility when he's cashing the million dollar paycheck? Perhaps simply scream, turn purple, and have a GIF made of him for posting on football blogs everywhere.

Accepting responsibility is what he did. The buck stops with him which is why he's beloved by Michigan fans like myself. He behaved like any good leader, boss, or manager would. And so yes, by your comment I can say with certainty that you are not.

What are you talking about? Can you read? I don't have any problem whatsoever with the way Hoke handled this.  My original post was referencing the OP's description of the video, which I made clear in the post directly above yours.  Instead of rushing to insult people, maybe you should take a second to focus on your comprehension.

Our biggest problem(s) (because I think Gardner figures out the turnovers) is our line play on both sides and our soft coverages.  We get Peppers next year.  Is he good enough to make an impact as a true freshman?  Can Peppers and Countess shut people down next year?

On the d-line is one year long enough for Charlton to develop and make an impact as our WDL next year?  If we get Hand will he be good enough to make an impact as a true freshman?  I mean Charlton, Pipkins, Wormley, and Hand seems pretty talented, but really young.

We will still have a young o-line and seems like Braden, Glasgow, Miller, Kalis, and Mags will be our starters next year.  Or do we expect a few freshman like Kugler to beat our Miller or maybe Dawson or Bosch to beat someone out?  Either way we will be super young on the o-line next year.  So, we can't expect them to be great run blockers next year either can we?

We have a lot of talent coming in at these positions but they are all really young.  We had all these same issues last year, will we still be frustrated by these same things again next year too or are the young guys good enough to make jumps by next year and/or freshman good enough to make an impact immediately?

I expect a lot of the same conversations next year but am hoping Taco & Mario at least next year are making bigger impacts.  Pipkins will also be in his 3rd year.  But the OL...yeah... it's going to be very young. Kalis will be the "veteran".  We are 2 years away from this young talent really infusing themselves into the lines at a level they are 'experienced'.  Asking Hand to come in and do much is asking a lot.  I dont' see 5 stars walking in on any line at Alabama and making impact - they generally will pop at RB or other less "line-y" places.

The line play was today's big long-term concern. The whole team was bad, but much of that was due to sloppy play, poor prep, bad choices, etc. It was something of a perfect storm of badness.
But both lines should be able to control a MAC team on a bad day and they didn't.
Now, next year? I don't think we can project yet. Last year we lost faith in the interior OL and gained confidence in the DL as the year went on. Perhaps something similar happens again--Taco emerging, or Kalis turning into an immovable object. Or an injured tackle, replaced by a young guy that turns out pretty good.
Given that the coaches have a track record of developing serviceable D-lines out of middling talent. It's what they have now--let's see what they do.

People may have forgotten App State so they need to be reminded once in a while.

Coaches probably took their eyes of the ball as well. They did not prepare the team well, that is for sure. Players were still in the UTL2, all the claps and things like that.

Thank God we won. Forget this whole thing and move forward.

Our rivals nor the announcers today surely haven't.  I heard many references from announcers who highlighted the game make references to App. St. today.. and with good reason.   Akron almost snapping their 27 away game loss streak by simultaneously snapping our home winning streak in The Big House.

to make me think that this is a well-coached team capable of improvement as the season goes on. Sad, but true. None of the guys that were touted as possible breakout players have impressed at all. In fact, except for maybe Gallon and Countess, not one player has been consistently impressive this year. Fitz, Ross, Pipkins, Chesson, Washington, Clark, Thomas, Kalis, Funchess...all pretty meh at best. And for all who thought that Gardner's 2 INTs against Central were just a glitch...not so...6 in three games now, which is inexcusably bad.

That's my case. Yes, today was an abomination in all respects. It easily was the worst game since Appy State.  But keep in mind that before this game UM had scored 100 pts in the previous two games and kept the big plays to a minimum on defense. The OL did okay versus ND as the game wore on while the defense found a way to make stops late versus ND.  They did none of this versus Akron.

Fans like you with your excessive negativity are irritating. You discount all the good and focus on all the bad. This is why people dislike you.

Michigan has a lot of talent and very good coaches. I have to believe that this team will make improvements based on the coaches track record.  Of course, we have to let the season to finish to see if they did or not.

The passing game HAS improved. I don't see how you can say that it hasn't. Yes, the turnovers are an issue and that is something that needs to be worked on.But the passing game is greatly improved.

The center of the OL was an issue that most knew was going to be a problem. Three new starters will tend to do that.

As for "stars",  I think you are being a bit hasty. Mike Hart did not do much the first couple of games  of his freshmen season. Stars don't always immediately become stars.

Cheeson had a nice TD today and we all know his passing ability. Norfleet could eventually developed into a threat as he grows more comfortable as a slot WR. Butt has shown flashes. Jarrod WIlson had a key INT today and should have had one versus ND.  The common factor in all of these is experience or lack thereof.  Give them time. Stars will develop.

This might have been the only thing I've watched today that has made me somewhat happy (for lack of a better word).

Every game I've watched has gone against me.  The UM game was painful, and stressful, and totally frustrating.

But this?  Yes.  The right balance of what was needed.  Right tone.

I can like Hoke again and feel not so horrible.

This seems like Good Yelling. No crazy eyes. No spittle-spewing loss of control. No sense that the coach may or may not kill and eat one of the players as a public shaming ritual on the team bus.

(Yeah, I'm watching the ND game right now. How'd you know?)

Maybe it's just me...never been a fan of the "calm" approach. It's Hoke way and with the way he has recruited and the team usually has responded after a piss poor performance I guess there is no reason to doubt him at this point.

Just hope the whole country club culture doesn't come back to this program....

who knows very well that you aren't as good as you think after a good day, but probably aren't as bad as you think after a bad day.  We Interwebs Genuises can bitch and moan all we like, but he has to set a tone that gets the team's attention, and gets them ready to get back to work to get ready to do better against UConn.   Seems to be he did a pretty good job.

Air body stop trippin.  One bad game after a huge ND game does not mean the team is imploding. It happens, especially when you're young.

Michigan returns to solid play next week and every week hereafter. Sometimes it takes a scare.  Remember how everyone thought App State was then end of the world.?  I recall we ended up beating Florida in a bowl game that year.
