Cease Panic: A Solution Has Arisen for the WR Problem? (don't click here)

Submitted by Space Coyote on

It’s been over a day now and I’m still really freaking out about Michigan’s WR situation since Darboh went down. I mean, I can’t even get any work done anymore. How has Michigan been so unlucky this offseason with injuries, position switches, everything? I mean, the coaches are still switching people’s positions two weeks before the season! Gah! Anyway, I’ve looked over the WR core again and again on mgoblue and I just didn’t see anyone that could be that big bodied WR like Darboh could. I mean, I know Darboh probably wasn’t going to be Braylon this year, but he was primed to help take Michigan’s passing attack to the next level.

But then I got to looking, and I couldn’t believe no one had brought it up yet. Scanning over the entire rosters, there is one person that can be a similar, probably even better WR than Darboh would have been this year: Devin Gardner. Gardner showed great flashes of being a capable WR in high school and early last season. That sort of playmaker would garner huge success for this offense IMO. The obvious solution is to put DG at WR.

Why not just throw Morris into the fire. Morris has a high ceiling and a really strong arm. He’s a lot like a freshman level Chad Henne.  It worked great back then with him and Braylon, and I’d expect similar results this time around. Morris to Gardner, I think that’s the answer. So, fellow MGoBloggers and Michigan football crazies, what do you think of moving DG back to WR and throwing Morris into the fire?

There are some that may feel this is a radical solution, but big problems call for bold thinking.

Why do we need a QB? I know, I know, you traditionalists won't be able to wrap your heads around it, but I think it might work. Look at Denard's first TD - if I had suggested that play, it would have been brutal. How did it turn out, though? Just snap the ball. The designated player that Borges designates can pick it up and do something - run, throw or hand it off. A true option attack. It will give us that extra man that the zone read was designed around without all that complication or needing more pages in the play book.

I will give you credit for being the first to call for the highly ranked back up.   This is an awful idea that we will hear over and over after our first lose, if we have one.  Grumble grumble back up...... grumble grumble need new OC.....you know it is coming.

This is ridiculous.

.

How can someone even come up with such garbage.  Clearly, Gardner will be our QB, and we'll make due elsewhere with out WRs, whether its with Chesson or Reynolds.

.

But why would we have our FIRST STRING QB play WR.  That's crazy.

.

I expected better SpaceWolf, I expected better.

drugs are bad, dropped on head as baby is bad, and holy wtf. Deving Gardner is showing elite flashes at QB. Darboh has proven nothing. He has no career receptions. What makes everyone on the board believe that Darboh was the saving grace??? We have gallon, Chesson, Dileo, and funchess. Funchess will open the field up for Gallon and vice versa. Joe reynolds will see time this year as well.

I just cant believe that anyone would believe that Gardner should be moved, or replaced by Morris. I also dont understand how anyone on the board thinks that an unproven player like Darboh being injured changes everything. We have plenty of proven wideouts. Game one is practice and every who is crying about position switches two week before Central needs to realize that Central is just another Scrimmage. Coaches no what they are doing.

Bravo. Well done. At first I thought you suggest Gardner play both wr and qb, but Morris's makes about as much sense. I'm curious to hear your satirical thoughts on the line as well.

Lets bring back Dan Gibbs, put him at QB. Has the height to see over defenses and won't go down easily. Jared Lorenzen was effective right? On a related note, why don't hockey teams find the biggest human being they can find, put goalie pads on them, and put them in goal and act as basically an impenetrable wall? Seriously, I never undstood why this doesn't happen unless there is a rule on how big a goalie can be. Anybody?

We have plenty of skill at wide out, it hurts losing Darboh. But it's not like we're losing Lewan, Gardner or Gallon. Chesson will step up and we will be fine. Moving Gardner to wide receiver would be the stupidest decision I have seen in my lifetime.

You can not be taken seriously. QB > > > > > > > WR. We will be fine at WR. You can't pull Gardner out of QB when he's almost a 99 OVERALL (in NCAA '14 terms) and only a 93/94 in WR. This would be the dumbest move for this coaching staff since Gardner is going to be a force to stop since he can run, pass, and dictate this offense. Morris has no chemistry with any of the receivers, at least not like Gardner... ie Dileo, Chesson, Reynolds, and most importantly GALLON.

If I had a vote. Boliva you go.
