Licking down the starting job just seems unadvisable.....not to mention unsanitary.

I went to UM. Proud of it. But comments like that are exactly why people hate us (and should).
We have plenty of UM fans who didn't go to college and college degrees don't equate to "earned" fandom.
Personally, I very much look forward to his video on 11/26. Those tears will be delicious.
|04/13/2016 - 10:08pm||Good news/Bad news||
Bad news - Drake got run over by a forklift.
Good news - He seems to be alright. Thank goodness!
More good news - Harbaugh is experimenting with player cloaking technology that seems to work. You cannot hit what you cannot see (except if you are a forklift apparently). Hugh Freeze was right - out of the box thinker that Harbaugh is.
|04/13/2016 - 8:08pm||Absolutely correct!||
Seriously Magnus, let's leave the talent evaluations to the coaches or anybody who happens to run a Michigan recruiting site that specializes in talent evaluations.
Uh, wait a second....
|01/30/2016 - 1:52am||A moment of silence...||
...for the words (and punctuation) and time we wasted together tonight debating punctuation and their relation to actual football playing homo sapiens.
You were a worthy adversary my friend.
But my final point follows here...
|01/30/2016 - 1:43am||Respectfully disagree...||
From the punctuation guide:
"The em dash is perhaps the most versatile punctuation mark. Depending on the context, the em dash can take the place of commas, parentheses, or colons—in each case to slightly different effect. "
Not Gary but another blue chipper.....
Commas = Nickelback
Em dash is Jabrill, Jabrill is Em Dash.......

Sorry Alum96, WD, or Magnus......this kid is next.....

You keep bringing up that PSU game.
I would say that BC did a pretty good job against PSU if you take that one pass out of the equation it took almost 50 other passes to get 300 yards passing including OT.
Michael Brewer's QBR was 33.1.
This is all pretty meaningless though since we can't really judge a DC based on a few games otherwise, we should have fired Durkin after OSU.
Sometimes we look for stats to back up our opinion and ignore stats that may tell a different story. Perhaps, fans of this move are doing the same. But it seems an awful lot like you are trying to find fault in this hire by any means necessary. Finally, we need to consider relational stats......we do need to consider what he gets out of what he has. Not fair to compare apples to apples for a guy like Durkin at UF vs a guy like Brown at BC. I don't think ANYONE can argue this guy has overachieved to a major degree with the talent he's had.
|10/03/2015 - 7:49pm||Can't agree more....||
Rudock is giving us more than we got at the position last year. For sure.
I'm talking to you John O'Korn, Brandon Peters, Vicious Vic, Zach Gentry, or maybe Shane Morris!
But for next year, I do think there is more than a remote chance that Taysom Hill is the QB I he decides to come back (at age 26!) thanks to his relationship with Harbaugh and the prestige of the b-school, until he gets hurt and O'Korn can take us home. That would be really interesting......
The O-line still worries me this year but the biggest question mark to me remains QB.
|10/03/2015 - 12:14am||Come on, Harbaugh farts||
Come on, Harbaugh farts too!
He just farts excellence.....with an exuberance unknown to mankind.
|01/08/2015 - 1:32pm||Here's the video||
|11/04/2014 - 1:20pm||Quiz Bowl||
Looks like Michigan is taking the whole "Harvard - Michigan of the East" thing literally....Schlissel graduated from Princeton and MIT. This guy came from Williams College (previous home of future bball legend Duncan Robinson) and is now at Dartmouth.
Hell of a start to a quiz bowl team for Michigan leadership....
My take is.... I just want someone who is a smart and willing to listen, strong but not too headstrong to push through iniatitives without input or consideration of other options. You don't need a big name AD. Give me the smartest guy in the room....
|08/09/2014 - 7:51pm||Double post||
Double post - Jabrill is awesome. That is all.
|08/09/2014 - 7:49pm||Jabrill is about to be unleashed....video evidence yesterday||
Here is some more board healing.....Jabrill Peppers and his fully functional ACL along with Ty Isaac returning punts.
Makes me think of th Emporer:

|08/08/2014 - 9:32am||Am I the only one....||
....that thinks you are a total d-bag for that comment? I'm not the most PC person in the world but really? Imagine if we were talking about African Americans with that comment. Would the board be so accepting of that?
Sorry for the rant, just some disappointment with you and the board to some extent for not calling you out.
|06/11/2014 - 5:49pm||Based on limited evidence.....||
....namely this blurb from http://www.sportsxchange.com/showcase/draftscout.php?pyid=119888, not sure why he would transfer.....probably would have played a lot in a great system for him. Guessing there are non-football reasons. Good luck to him nonetheless.....
04/13/14 - Tre Roberson watched Nate Sudfeld dazzle Indiana's coaches all spring. It was Roberson's turn Saturday. The junior quarterback ran 65 yards for one touchdown, threw 16 yards on a scramble for another and hooked up with Shane Wynn for completions of 56 and 59 yards, leading the cream past the crimson 24-14 in Saturday's annual spring game. A year ago, the big question was whether Roberson could regain his form after missing most of 2012 with a broken left leg. Having a full offseason to focus on football, rather than rehab, has changed everything. "It helps a lot with helping to be myself," he said. "Last year, I was a little slow in thinking, so it helps out a lot."
|04/29/2014 - 9:53pm||Great detailed description...||
Thanks for your great analysis as always. Always appreciate it!
As with every recruit, there are different opinions and I respect yours.
However, a few different opinions from a few sources though about his arm:
STRENGTHS: Malzone is a pocket passer who will make quick decisions with the football and handle pressure in front of him. Gets to drop point quickly and in balance. Shows the ability to be in balance on the run to get the ball out quickly. ... AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: Moves well in the pocket but may not be a threat to extend a lot of plays with his feet. ... BOTTOM LINE: Malzone has good arm strength and accuracy from within the pocket. May need to grow a few inches but could be a Division I prospect in time.
And less "professional" , less reliable reviews (focus on arm strength only):
The last of the elite possibilities is 6'2" 190 pound Alex Malzone of Brother Rice HS in Bloomfield, MI. Coming from the most dominant program in Michigan, he's a winner, but there's more than that. The thing that jumps out the most about him is his arm. The ball absolutely jumps from of his hand effortlessly. That means his mechanics are impressive, too. And that arm strength comes in a 190 pound package. Once he gets bigger and stronger his arm will become even better. The good news for Pitt is that since he's not big, he may not get a lot of big time offers. He already holds offers from seven MAC programs, but bigger programs will offer once they see him throw in person. He did throw at Michigan, and got raves. He is under consideration for a Wolverine offer, and is also being monitored by the likes of Michigan State, Penn State, and Ohio State. But he did visit Pitt on junior day recently and said it was the best place he's been to.
Alex is a clutch player and rose to the occasion each week against quality competition. Teams knew he was a big time player and they were still unable to slow him down. His poise and confidence in the pocket are qualities that the great quarterbacks possess. His arm strength and accuracy are what is getting him national attention.
|04/29/2014 - 9:41pm||Great post....||
I think your comments match what a lot of scouting reports say.
He's not an elite runner and may be on the short side (about 6'1").
But good arm, high football IQ, quick decision maker, prides himself on making good reads, very accurate. Sounds exactly what we have lacked the past couple years although athleticism from our QBs have carried us at times.
MSU seems to have gotten a really good one in Lewerke. Malzone vs. Lewerke would be a heck of match-up in a couple years.
|04/29/2014 - 5:07pm||True...||
But based on Malzone's recent performances at a regional and national level, he is definitely due an upgrade and should trend up. I would be surprised if he wasn't a consensus 4 star by all services by year end.
|04/29/2014 - 5:03pm||Which they have done....||
They've sent out quite a few QB offers already, and just watched Malzone throw among others. Like I said, if there is a better option out there that has indicated HIGH interest, terrific. But QB is not the position to extend the evaluation process out for too long. I have a personal preference for the kid but if the staff likes someone better that is close to committing, let's put the full court press on right now.
Sounds like if he is visiting this week, he very well may be their choice. In my non-expert opinion, I think he'll be a terrific QB. Otherwise, this entire thread can be used years down the row as a heaping helping of crow.
|04/29/2014 - 4:25pm||Respectfully....||
Waiting is NOT beneficial when it comes to QBs, especially if you have a SOLID option like Malzone who, from what's being said, is a bird in hand....
Even if we fall in love with another QB in a few months, most likely that QB WON'T be an option because he's already committed somewhere else or already has relationships with schools that already offered.
|04/29/2014 - 4:19pm||I've got dirt on them....||
My secretly recorded conversation with this "old guard" you talk about:
|01/22/2014 - 3:29pm||TOTALLY wrong.....||
College Football Playoff Semi-final 1/1/2015
College Football Title Game 1/12/2015
So, yeah, 1/13/2015, it will stop.
But then again....4/6/15 NCAA basketball title game....UM will need to repeat so.......
4/7/15, it will stop....
|01/11/2014 - 8:05pm||Jeff Jones? Uh yes please....||
So totally agree, Enwere was dropped for a shot at Jones as it should be. I know some people weren't impressed by his highlights but if you check out his HUDL senior highlights......my word. I thought they were insane (or maybe I am which is possible).
44 TDs and averaged 9 yards a carry. Combined, Damien Harris and Jones combined for 89(!) TDs last year. Yeah, it's HS and different level of competition but damn........
|01/11/2014 - 7:44pm||Better yet.....||
A surgical rocket scientist.......
|08/31/2013 - 4:27pm||1st quarter||
Michigan defense 1
Our O is getting by through superior talent and not execution. Smelling a much better 2nd quarter.....
|08/26/2013 - 5:57pm||What about Joe Reynolds?||
When I think sleeper, I think walk-on (like Glasgow) or more like former walk-ons like Glasgow and Reynolds. However, a walk-on at a skill position is even more rare.
Just by virtue of lack of depth, you have to think Joe Reynolds is a sleeper.
Decent speed, decent height, might be a deep threat.
Or what about Jeremy Jackson. 6-3, might be a decent red zone target?
OK, I'm streching but playing time equals opportunity and Reynolds and Jackson may get a lot of it this year. Hoke singled both out as having improved and both have apparently looked decent this spring. So, those are my vote(s).
|08/25/2013 - 7:37pm||Worst part is....||
...he was playing on a one year restricted free agent tender and would have been in line for a nice contract extension from the G-men or in unrestricted free agency after this year.
He is only making around $2M (yeah, only but who knows what his shelf life is) this year so this could cost him dearly.
Here's hoping for a strong recovery and an awesome 2014 season that finally leads to that big pay day.
|08/25/2013 - 7:20pm||So, we don't have the biggest running back.....||
Meet David Fangupo, Hawaii's newest running back....
Yeah, that's 350 pounds of pure awesome with speed to boot....
Yet, even with great speed for somebody over 100 pounds overweight, I'm guessing he doesn't possess Green's 4.4 (?) speed.
Green will be fine....
|08/25/2013 - 7:16pm||This!||
Couldn't agree more with Magnus' comment.
Totally ridiculous to base opinions on Green on a listed weight and a couple carries shown on CTK.
I also think Smith could be a stud but I'm still as excited about Green as I was when he committed.
|08/25/2013 - 7:11pm||Now we know why you're smiling Prescott....||
|08/25/2013 - 7:06pm||Shane NEEDS to play like no other.....||
But I wouldn't play him unless we have a 3 TD lead with at most 10 minutes to play.
If he is indeed our #2, he needs experience and he needs as many snaps as possible. This season could get ugly if he has to play and doesn't have real snaps under his belt.
|08/25/2013 - 7:03pm||I agree with those||
who say it's too early. If the season ended now, it's definitely Scherzer, without a question.
The 2011 or 2012 Verlander? No question, it's JV. 2013 Verlander even if you give him some extra credit for long term resume, JV is #2.
And I also agree that he's not a lock for the #2 right now. T
Guess the post-season ERA/WHIP:
4.22 ERA/1.24 WHIP
1.77 ERA/0.98 WHIP
Sanchez is the latter although in fewer starts plus JV was rocked in 2006 as a rookie so the stats are misleading but still.....
|08/25/2013 - 6:54pm||So, now he could follow in these footsteps....||
(if he moved to the secondary)
Isn't that Berkley Edwards brother on the right?
|08/25/2013 - 6:48pm||Whoops....||
Sorry about that....brain fart, feels like yesterday with Martin.
So, I take it back, DL - definitely not worse if the only losses are Roh and Campbell.
And yes, slew of young talent might mean we might ACTUALLY have a pass rush.
Thanks for the correction.
|08/25/2013 - 6:10pm||How awesome is it....||
....when 3 other players (so far) are mentioned as surprises as captain omissions?
Gallon, Gardner, Gordon....
At least 7 potential captains.....nice problem to have.
|08/25/2013 - 5:59pm||Hmmm....||
Wonder if Devin yielded to Cam Gordon this year being that they were old HS teamates and all knowing this is his team in 2014.
Probably not....just taking a shot in the dark.
This team definitely doesn't have a leadership problem!
|08/25/2013 - 5:42pm||I guess what matters is....||
.....how do we compare to last year. That really is the only barometer to go off of.
QB - Better. Devin is more experienced and fits the offense. Depth is a concern but could Shane be worse than Bellomy was last year?
RB - Better. Fitz is back. Green/Smith/Rawls/Johnson/Hayes are a much better supporting group.
TE - Better. Funchess and Butt plus a better offense for Funchess.
WR - ???? Who knows. Gallon and Dileo are back. Roundtree and technically Gardner are missing. Reynolds/Chesson/Jackson/Norfleet - depends on their level of improvement
OL - Better Lewan is back, supporting cast is better.
LB - Worse for now. Losing Ryan hurts but he will be back (hopefully). Will he be the same though? Ross will be even better and there is a solid rotation. Once the old Ryan returns, this turns to a "better".
DL - Probably a bit worse. Hard to replace Martin, Roh, and even Campbell. Some freaks out there but unproven. Upside is high.
Secondary - Better. Despite the loss of Kovacs, Countess is back and there are a slew of talented newcomers.
Special Teams - Pretty much the same. A full season of Norfleet at KR/PR will be interesting.
So, yeah, I'm excited for this year. Improved at most positions and most importantly stability at QB within the system could lead to a special year. 2014 could be even better.
|08/24/2013 - 4:21pm||I'm most excited about...||
...the secondary. That's always been a question other than pass rush and I can't help but think it will be vastly improved. We've he major questions in the secondary the past two seasons but still had decent Ds so I'm anxious to see what the overall D looks like.
Now about that pass rush.....
|08/23/2013 - 8:50pm||Heavy in the RB space? Another Green weight knock?||Come on man! Green is a beastly photon torpedo of muscle. Fournette, well, if he wants in to the beastly photon torpedo of muscle club, I guess we can let him in.....if he's decent that is.|
|08/23/2013 - 4:26pm||So we do get....||
...Damon Webb. Just a year later.....
Sounds a lot like Webb to me. And the intangibles sound like they are through the roof on this kid. 2016 with Peppers and Crawford will be special.
|08/22/2013 - 3:02pm||Bigger, better solution....||
Lets bring back Dan Gibbs, put him at QB. Has the height to see over defenses and won't go down easily. Jared Lorenzen was effective right?
On a related note, why don't hockey teams find the biggest human being they can find, put goalie pads on them, and put them in goal and act as basically an impenetrable wall? Seriously, I never undstood why this doesn't happen unless there is a rule on how big a goalie can be.
|08/01/2013 - 5:34pm||No, this is a TOTAL surprise...||
Not sure where people aren't surprised by this one.
Just a couple weeks ago, UMHoops had an article about Looney http://www.umhoops.com/2013/07/15/kevon-looney-i-could-be-next-at-michigan/ where he stated "he could be next" at Michigan referring to GRIII.
From the article:
Looney maintains what he calls a “pretty good” relationship with Michigan’s coaching staff, saying John Beilein contacts him about twice a week.
One aspect of Looney’s recruitment that can’t be overlooked is the importance of retaining assistant coach LaVall Jordan, who was being strongly considered for the Butler head coaching job. Looney said Jordan is the coach he has the best relationship with and that he was glad to hear he was returning to the team.
“That’s big,” Looney said of Jordan returning. “He’s the assistant that’s been recruiting me, so I have probably the best relationship with him. That’s big.”
Again, just a couple weeks ago.....so, yeah, I'm a bit surprised. It went from "I could be next" at Michigan and a two horse race between UM and Duke to, not in the top 5.
|08/01/2013 - 5:18pm||So hypothetical question for everybody.....||
For a long time, Parrker Westphal (100% 247 Crystal Ball) and Montae Nicholson (93% 247 Crystal Ball) have been considered Michigan leans.
There is also JuJu Smith and Adoree Jackson lurking around although definite longshots, especially Jackson.
IF, and a big IF, Lattimore and Smith are the rumored DBs that may or may not be committing this week.....would you rather have those two and close out our DB recruiting (and keep them out of OSU hands)?
Or would you rather have Westphal and Nicholson (and/or keep open the remote possibility of one of the West Coast blue chippers)?
Again, I'm assuming landing Lattimore and Smith would close out DB recruiting.
I'm torn. I like Westphal and Nicholson but stealing two Glenville kids, especially a 5 star one is enticing.
|07/21/2013 - 8:12pm||So yeah.....||
.....looks like its definitely going down now.
That said, I really don't think this is a cause for excitement. I'm guessing the kid, er, man, is kicked off the team. But the tragic thing is that its another male athlete, OSU or not, that physically assaulted a woman.
It's not an indictment on OSU or Meyer, its an indictment on the fact that schools like OSU have to put huge signs about respecting women.....and that athletes still don't.
|07/11/2013 - 3:41pm||Yeah....||
....I gotta agree. Heck, every kid with a brain tumor can name their tumor "Michigan" and beat it and that could become the universal standard treatment for all kids with brain tumors and I would have absolutely NO problem with it.
It's actually a pretty awesome story......if a Michigan fan names their tumor "buckeye" and beat it.....just as awesome. Beating a tumor is awesome. Calling out buckeye behavior for this kid is not.....
|07/11/2013 - 3:33pm||So the Shea Patterson comment.....||
"Right now I am committed to Arizona, and if I don't hear anything from any other school for the next three years I will be happy to go to Arizona, but since we moved things have been different," he said.
It's like the long term deal you make with a single female friend who is more a solid 5 while you wait for at least a 7 to marry. "If you and I are still single when we're 40......"
|06/29/2013 - 4:51pm||Wow....first time I've read extensive camp comments....||
...and saw nothing negative. Ok, so color me skeptical at first but no longer. Very excited about this pick up. The reasons for the lack of offers make perfect sense.
