My 4 and 1/2 month old is really excited about this, she made sure to get up at 4am and demanded I take her downstairs and turn the game on while she plays under her activity mat jungle gym.

so other than Everton, Villa, Stoke and now Sunderland, the one team that has stood out in terms of style of play, pure joy of the fans, a small team conquering the big beasts... I find I really like rooting for Swansea.

nothing to see here.

Yep, used to it being called the EPL, but forgot about the sponsor...
August 17th, 2013 at 7:45 AM ^
Barclays Premier League.. I'm an idiot.
August 17th, 2013 at 5:22 PM ^
Apparently the OP just starting following the EPL this year.

Who's arsenal playing? I miight look up a stream
August 17th, 2013 at 7:45 AM ^
They play at 10 AM on NBC SPorts Net against some team I can't remember. And I'm an Arsenal fan
August 17th, 2013 at 7:46 AM ^
It would be easier to root for Liverpool if they didn't wear red. Hoping Brek Shea will get in the game, but as he only has 2 caps for Stoke City, I'm not holding my breath.
August 17th, 2013 at 8:25 AM ^
Unfortunately, he doesn't appear to be on the reserve list, but Geoff Cameron did start and should be getting great experience.

Nice stuff from Stoke, so unlucky! Just read that they are the second oldest football team in the world, established in 1863...

Have been following since the 90s, watched Ole Gunnar Solskjaer shock Bayern Munich in stoppage time @ Camp Nou.
August 17th, 2013 at 8:18 AM ^
This was my first premier league team too, and this is one of the first games I remember watching.
August 17th, 2013 at 10:03 AM ^
Awesome. Those were epic battles between Arsenal and Unied.
August 17th, 2013 at 5:23 PM ^
Are you also a fan of the Yankees and Lakers? Or are the Packers more your style?
August 17th, 2013 at 7:41 PM ^
Yes, this is why I root for midtable Conference teams only. Go Forest Green Rovers.

Agree that the Bundesliga is a better league nowadays. The EPL, quite honestly, has been pretty lame since it became a toybox for oil oligarchs.

Goodness me what a thrilling finish at Anfield. Liverpool barely hold on to get the 3 points. Strong goaltending from both goalies today but Liverpool barely survives

Can't wait to see how Jozy performs for Sunderland against Fulham, I would love to see another American do well in the Prem!

No. They play Monday afternoon on NBC Sports Network.

Arsenal starting very brightly. Although they finished fourth last season they probably had the best finish to the season. Look for them to start well.

Not a fan of Suarez, personally. Besides the biting there is also the racial epithet incident with Patrice Evra. However, can't deny his finishing ability. Without the bagage, he would be worth more than 50 mil.

I tried a few times to get into EPL by arbitrarily choosing a team, but could never make it stick. Then I met my wife, who is from Nottingham, England. Nottingham Forest has a cool history, and now I have tangible ties to a team.
The only problem is that they are in the league championship, formerly known as First Division. Anyone know how I can watch their games, apart from getting beIN Sport for $10 a month and just catching a handful?

broadcasting and doing the halftime show. One reason I love watching the EPL is because of it's sheer Britishness.
August 17th, 2013 at 4:58 PM ^
which is why FoxSports decision to use Gus Johnson is just an incredible waste of his talent.
However I am sad ESPN no longer has a game of the week, Ian Darke and Steve McMananman were terrific together.
also pleased NBC sports is picking up the premier league review show, another british production highlighting the weeks games which is terrific.

(Yes, my PL team was picked, in part, because they call themselves the Blues!)
August 17th, 2013 at 1:07 PM ^
1-0 United. RvP with a crazy volley in the box.
August 17th, 2013 at 1:09 PM ^
2-0. Valencia, sweet centering pass to Walbeck for the tap-in.
August 17th, 2013 at 1:34 PM ^
Swansea aren't out of it though. Utd's central midfield looks soft, especially with 3 midfielders on a yellow card
August 17th, 2013 at 1:58 PM ^
United have needed another central midfielder besides Carrick for several years now.
Giggs is good for a half. Anderson,Cleverly haven't shown the consistency. Doubtful that Fabregas leaves Barca. Modric may be available especially if Real want to give Isco more minutes as a creative midfielder. Fellaini would be a good central defending midfielder next to Carrick, allowing for Kagawa or Rooney to play as an attacking midfielder behind RvP.
August 17th, 2013 at 1:37 PM ^
True arsenal fan ixcuincle went to sleep at halftime with it being 1-1. Imagine my surprise when I woke up and found out Aston Villa won 3-1.
August 17th, 2013 at 2:01 PM ^
That should be it. RvP, right outside the box, into the top left corner. Brace on the opener for the champs.
Glory glory
