OT: Barclays Premier League Day 1

Submitted by ixcuincle on

It begins.

The games start in about 20 minutes. NBC has a pretty good pre-game show.

Who is your team!? Go Gunners!

My 4 and 1/2 month old is really excited about this, she made sure to get up at 4am and demanded I take her downstairs and turn the game on while she plays under her activity mat jungle gym.

having just started watching the BPL a couple years ago, I had no reason to pick any team as mine, other than the teams with Americans.

so other than Everton, Villa, Stoke and now Sunderland, the one team that has stood out in terms of style of play, pure joy of the fans, a small team conquering the big beasts... I find I really like rooting for Swansea.

It would be easier to root for Liverpool if they didn't wear red. Hoping Brek Shea will get in the game, but as he only has 2 caps for Stoke City, I'm not holding my breath.

Goodness me what a thrilling finish at Anfield. Liverpool barely hold on to get the 3 points. Strong goaltending from both goalies today but Liverpool barely survives

This Premier League coverage by NBC is amazing. So glad to have every game broadcast. This should really help with soccer's popularity here

Arsenal starting very brightly. Although they finished fourth last season they probably had the best finish to the season. Look for them to start well.

Not a fan of Suarez, personally.  Besides the biting there is also the racial epithet incident with Patrice Evra.  However, can't deny his finishing ability.  Without the bagage, he would be worth more than 50 mil.

I tried a few times to get into EPL by arbitrarily choosing a team, but could never make it stick. Then I met my wife, who is from Nottingham, England. Nottingham Forest has a cool history, and now I have tangible ties to a team.

The only problem is that they are in the league championship, formerly known as First Division. Anyone know how I can watch their games, apart from getting beIN Sport for $10 a month and just catching a handful?

which is why FoxSports decision to use Gus Johnson is just an incredible waste of his talent.

However I am sad ESPN no longer has a game of the week, Ian Darke and Steve McMananman were terrific together.

also pleased NBC sports is picking up the premier league review show, another british production highlighting the weeks games which is terrific.

United have needed another central midfielder besides Carrick for several years now.

Giggs is good for a half.  Anderson,Cleverly haven't shown the consistency.  Doubtful that Fabregas leaves Barca.  Modric may be available especially if Real want to give Isco more minutes as a creative midfielder.  Fellaini would be a good central defending midfielder next to Carrick, allowing for Kagawa or Rooney to play as an attacking midfielder behind RvP.
