Wow...do some research before you speak. Everyone is all worried about a kid who is naturally big with a big frame. He had to drop weight to get to 240 for petes sake.

Green will never be a ripped looking guy because his body type won't allow it. As long as he can keep his feet and his stamina isn't a concern he will be fine.

I'd bet he played at 230 his senior year if not more and was fine. He was fine at the AA game and I'll bet he'll be fine here.

Not every RB in the world is going to be some cut up adonis when you look at them.

I have been reading this blog for years and I am not an avid poster.  I read a lot of intelligent things by viewers, but I also read a lot of silly things.  Your response makes no sense.  At the Army All-American Game he weighed in at 220.  Look a picture of him then (8 months ago) then now, big difference.

Yes, he did struggle with his weight in high school.  He did not start until he lost the weight to get to 220.  He never played anywhere near 240 or 230 for that matter.  If you are going to bash another comment please make it intelligent

His bio on the website.  Like I said before, I hope im wrong.  I was hoping he would come in and make a difference this year.  I am dissapointed with how he arrived on campus, but he has pleantly of time to get game ready.  As a former football player, I was just staing my opinion on his current weight and shape.  This is my last response on the topic.

You mean the website of the Army All-American Bowl? The one that happens to have the same measurements as Rivals? The website of the all-star game that was affiliated with Rivals?

Hmm, how strange that he weighed exactly the same at the USAAAB as he did on Rivals... We all know how people's weight stays static, and they never gain or a lose a pound, right?

I don't think it's that people expect him to look like Adrian Peterson, but people saw pics of him in high school and he simply doesn't appear to be as lean any longer.  That doesn't mean he won't lean out some, can't still be effective at his current weight, or anything in between.  But, he has been leaner in the past and that is the point, albeit an overemphasized one.

that is my concern even at his natural playing weight in HS. Due to dropping so much weight (likely) his upper and lower body are very disproportionate. To my eyes, even months ago, he works on his upper body more than his lower. Always thought Smith would be more immediate impact but since he has 3-4 years, I think Green has more potential. Some are too worried about a kid who is 2 practices in. We all will be disappointed if he does little right away but only the insane had him going Ron Dayne from day 1. In fact, some scouts flat out think he won't translate to college due to his running style/proportions. We'll see.

The ones who said he's the #1 running back in the country or the ones who said he's a top-10 running back in the country? He is not out of shape, he's been in the weight room all summer. Rivals measurements are not always accurate. If Fred Jackson said he played at 235 in high school, I believe him.

work for a website or publication. Even some that do show a bit of concern in that I think only one site had him #1 and the sites tend to stick relatively close in ranking "top kids". Some sites last year flat out would praise him then turn around and list twice as many knocks to justify not making him the top HB. Other than the sites many companies that schools use didn't like him at HB in college at all. Reasons were things like disproportionate body, inverted knees, skippish stride and lack of getting into second gear (a full stride) until he hit the mid-second/third level. I still want him and think the concern is crazy after 2 practices but not everyone was sold on him coming out. Again, the sites aren't the end all for scouting HS kids.

Well, he's only a freshman.  Barring injury, he'll get some carries. If his weight is bad for his game, he won't get the carries and lesson learned.  However, I can't remember the last time I saw a college RB with a belly like that except for Dayne.

"Fat and out of shape" is a strong way to describe him. I think he could probably shed about five pounds or so, but that's the case for just about everyone. I don't think people who are five pounds overweight count as being "fat and out of shape."

He looks like he came in a little soft. Hopefully its just the clothes/camera. It doesn't mean anything if he did. He could be a bettis/dayne type of build. Bowling ball. Hoke & co don't seem worried about it so I guess we probably shouldn't be either. Deveon looks effin' Jacked. So does big three-six.

Looks alot different than in his recruitment pics at 220. He looks a little chubby to me. I'm sure a year with wellman will get rid of that. Hopefully he can contribute this year. Would be a shame if touissant isn't up to par and green isn't either because of weight gain

It would be a shame if Jeremy Gallon lost a step and Amarah Darboh doesn't live up to the hype.  Also it would be a shame if Taylor Lewan is looking ahead to the NFL and is afraid of getting injured and Kyle Kalis turns out to be overrated.  I can play this game too.  There is no indication that either of those things will happen, so it's a totally meaningless statement.

I'm not seeing what everyone else is seeing. Does Green actually look fat? I just figured it was where the photo cuts off (before his knees) and the way he's standing (looks like he's in mid-walk) and the fact that his shirt is untucked. It's not like he's pulling a BWC and his gut is poking out of his shirt.

Seriously, look at the group shot. If Green's fat, Rawls is fatter.

no joke its hoke

reading comments about Green being out of shape is funny since no one here has ever been a 240lbs D1 college running back. Green is not out of shape and by the start of season he will probably be around 235 anyways.

I mean hell...Lendale White played at 235 with no trouble at all, you can look at his pictures in college and claim he needed to drop a few lbs.

From what I remember he was fine as could be. People who think Borges wants to go with a one back Leveon Bell style workload are out of their mind.
