was a good movie.  Christian Bale was stellar in his portrayal of Marky's drugged up brother.  Won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor and it was well deserved...quite the performance.

EDIT: "Mark's drugged up brother"

I know why he is there. They're shooting the new transformers in Michigan. He is in it. My friend is an extra in the film because it is at his work.

If he is in Michigan shooting a film, he must be also on his way to East Lansing to see their staduim and team too right?

I've got a shiny nickel for whoever can name everyone in the picture.

I've only got Jack Miller (middle-left, bending over), Devin (duh), Dileo (maybe? Right next to  Gardner/behind Wahlberg?), Houma (? With the hair?), Braden (? In between The Hair and Lewan?), Lewan (duh), Magnuson (duh), and that's it.

Back (L to R): Beyer, Mitropolous, Schofield, Burzinski, Ross, Ojemudia, Gibbons, Bosch, Pliska, Strobel, R. Glasgow, (on my phone and can't see enough of who's between Glasgow and Wormley, sorry), Wormley, Bars, Lewan, Gunderson, Magnuson

Front: Washington, C. Gordon, Miller, Clark, Gardner, with Gant and Funchess in front right corner. (Also can't see enough of who's behind Funchess, sorry)

Almost earned that nickel.

I do like Mark as an actor. I haven't found many famous individuals that chaged careers make much of an impact at their second stop, but I think Mark did. I find him to be a much better actor than he ever was a musical entertainer. His brother did as well. Not so much in movies as I have never seen him in anything, but he was great in band of brothers or the pacific...which ever one he was in (I forget now). He's also not bad in Blue Bloods, with my man Magnum P.I.

a good actor, not a great one.  He is reliable, and really serviceable in any kind of role, but is only sporatically better than the material he is given.  I thought he was actually kind of the flat in "The Fighter" and was one of the reasons that I felt the movie lacked a center and consequently lacked any sustainable depth.  His home is in the "best supporting actor" arena.  Does not quite have the chops for serious leads (Unless he is cast opposite a hilarious giant talking bear that is)..

And there are lots of good people who are a great supporting actor, and not a great lead. I think that Whalberg fits that category. His performance in The Departed was great, but he wasn't given too much to work with. Colin Ferrel comes to mind as someone else who excels if given a supporting role but struggles in a lead.

is a good example.  There are a bunch like Wahlberg, Barry Pepper, both of the Affleck brothers are kind of in that department as well.

Come on. Walberg may not be an elite level actor, but he has been in, starred in and produced some tremendous material. Name one decent movie that Ferrel starred in? Have you seen The Fighter? The Departed, The Italian Job, Invincible, Boogie Nights? Walhberg produced Entourage. Sure he plays the same character in every movie he has been in, but shit, he has been in some entertaining flicks (maybe not critically acclaimed) like Three Kings, The Perfect Storm, Four Brothers, Ted. Collin Farrel, Barry Battefield Earth Pepper he is not. Plus he is throwing a football around at the Big House AND filming in Michigan (which brings in some money for the state) so he gets bonus points for that! Donnie D, break it down...cue Funky Bunch.

That you point out he's a supporting character, just like he said, right? And the one really good one with him as a the lead is The Fighter...the movie where everything in it got nominated for an Academy Award, except him. If you're going to give him credit for just being in the movies, Barry Pepper has been a supporting player in a lot better movies than the Funky one.

Even admitting he plays the same character in every role pretty much says he's not a great actor.

And EVERYBODY, it's Farrell! (And to answer your question, In Bruges.)
