I apologize, because I'm sure this has already been covered on the board, but does the EA cover image fall into the standard NCAA "we own your image for life" box, or is this in another category because Denard has graduated? It'd be very nice for Denard to reap some financial reward after everything he's done in service to Michigan.

He gets some money cash. That's why they don't put current players on it. I have no idea how much.

Not nearly as much as he deserves, I'm sure. Really gonna miss this kid.

YAHOOOOOOOOOOO!!
We now have had a player on every console generation of NCAA Football.
And will people stop saying he's the third cover man? He is the fourth. Walter Smith on the Genesis, Woodson on 99, Howard on 06 and Denard on 14.

I 'd rather have Devin eligible for the 2014 season.

Denard just won the cover for 2014...
March 12th, 2013 at 11:33 AM ^
The joke was if Gardner is on the 2015 cover, he wouldn't be eligible for 2014 season.
I was thinking you were talking in video game years. lol. 2015 cover = eligible in 2013-14 seaon, but not 2014-15 season. I get what you're saying now.

I don't even play video games, but for some reason this contest became personal. Way to go Denard.

Until proven otherwise, I am going to assume it was my vote that put him over the top.

Haven't bought an NCAA FB game since Desmond graced it. And that was for PS2. Wonder how that winged helmet looks on my 360 that (unfortunately) is simply collecting dust.

Awesome, good for him. Now that he's on the cover and everyone knows what he looks like, can EA include his dreads in the game this time?

I haven't bought one in awhile, but I will be buying this one as soon as it hits the shelves!

Will NCAA really put Denard on every cover? I find it hard to believe considering there will definitely be Ohio, MSU, ND fans and others who will refuse to buy the game simply because of the team that's on the cover. Michigan has too strong of rivalries (which is obviously a good thing) to really put Denard on every cover.
Was the vote between Denard and a TAMU guy? That doesn't sound like a "regional" thing to me.

Can't wait for next year's vote.
Happy for Denard he deserves it more than Swope
before you shoot the messenger please hear me out from what OSU and other big fans seem to think about Denard. I'd like to get the average Michigan fans take...here's what I hear a lot:
People outside of the mich bubble don't seem to see that although Denard was a great athlete, he was basically a kick returner playing QB. As much as most UM fans love him, mainly for providing all their offense, he really slowed the their offense's growth by 2-3 years.
They sat their best QB, by far, for years and put him at wide-out, and didn't implement the pro-style that the new coaches were comfortable with... once Denard was a junior and hadn't become substantially better at passing, there was no reason for Hoke (who was just coming in) not to switch back to the pro-offense.
I think a combination of not wanting to upset the fan base who loved Denard was a big part of it...but I don't think UM would've had a much different record his junior yr and I think it could've been better his senior year, if Gardner would've been made the starter and the pro-set was established, with Denard being moved to wideout. Today UM would be going into their 3rd year with the offense they really want, Gardner would be much better at this point, and Denard would probably have developed into a deadly receiver by now as well... but as it stands, UM is heading in to this season trying to fully implement a new offense. (minus some pro-set stuff they mixed in a little last season).
I'll hang up and listen.
What is your take on ohio never having a cover athlete on a EA NCAA game?
Kind of amazing schools like Boise State with Jared Zabransky and Utah with Brian Johnson who have done nothing after college. Zabransky didn't even go into the NFL.
I'm getting old (41)...haven't played football video games since Tecmo Bowl days...so I had no idea OSU hadn't made the cover of EA.
Braxton did get the national cover of SI, but not sure how I feel about that with the whole curse thing.
