In this man's opinion, EA telling people they'd handle it was just a ploy to get everyone to stop bothering them. There's no (to my knowledge) practical, effective way to go through all those votes. If they really wanted to do this, they'd probably need 20-30 programming interns working round the clock for the next few days.

That being said, I think this was also a way for EA to have complete control over who they want on the cover. This whole cheating thing got a little out of hand and its clear both sides did it, so now they can cut however many votes they want and pick whoever they want on the cover. And there's no reason to not put Denard on the cover.

In all fairness to to Swope, who I'm sure is a great football player, a lot of people will be turned off by him being on the cover, and may not buy because of it. He's a relative unknown in college football, completely in Manziel's shadow. Love him or hate him, everyone knows who Denard Robinson is. He's the face of one of college football's greatest programs, has made some ridiculous things happen over the years, and has a smile that can cure cancer. The man's a household name. This should be a no-brainer.

I'm not sure about that at all.  Sure, some engineer at Facebook could certainly do it...but EA may not have a good way of doing it themselves.

Anyway, I agree with other posters that EA will put on whoever they think is better now.  Both sides cheated so they can just do whatever they want now.  I would think Denard has more national appeal, but I'm sure EA's marketing department has some actual data.  Maybe there are lots of SEC fans out there to cater to.

We'll see soon.

I said in another thread that this isn't something that matters and it still isn't.  Who cares?  Well, I guess I'd like Denard on the cover (I assume he'll get paid).  If he's not, for me not a single fuck will be given.

But he is a hell of a football player. I am Austin TX based and Swope is one talented dude. He went to to the same high school as my kids - Westlake High (alumni include Drew Brees, Nick Foles, Tanner Price). Followed him for 8 years. Pick him in future fantasy football leagues. Having said that, Go Blue.

Denard won the popular vote.  We have to wait until the electoral votes are tabulated in order for it to be official.  There are also a few hanging Chads to deal with.

But I went to Michigan for school and let me adamantly state: go blue!

/Plus, Manziel will probably get the cover in about a year (but even if that wasn't the case I would still be happy as hell that Denard [knocked on wood] won this).
