Freep's game pick...lol

Submitted by tomhagan on
Here is a-hole Snyder's pick for tomorrow...lol, this rag is a joke: MARK SNYDER’S SCOUTING REPORT When U-M has the ball: Regardless of who’s the quarterback, the Wolverines’ offense should be more explosive. There are playmakers at tailback and slot receiver, the quarterbacks are more athletic and able to escape trouble, and the offensive line is now a veteran group. Another year in Rich Rodriguez’s offensive schemes should aid the comfort level. This game, especially if Brandon Minor is limited, could see a lot of quickness out of the backfield and less traditional pounding the ball. Facing Western’s defense, with only three returning starters, can only help. The Broncos have a few returning linebackers, but with three new defensive linemen and an entirely new secondary, Michigan could roll up some big numbers. When WMU has the ball: Tim Hiller is a veteran quarterback, one of the best in the country. His offensive line returns, almost in full, his top three rushers are back, as is one notable pass catcher in Juan Nunez. But he’s missing big-play target Jamarko Simmons, whose eligibility ran out. If there’s anywhere Michigan’s emotion can serve as fuel, it’s on defense, where aggression up front can keep the heat on Hiller. Michigan’s safeties are untested, though, and that could be a challenge. Prediction: Western Michigan 31, Michigan 28.

what do I care? that dude, his co-worker (I'm showing restraint), and his paper are dead to me. I hope he picks against michigan every game of the season, and I hope he's wrong every damn time. I wouldn't piss on his head if his hair was on fire.

You think maybe they would pick Michigan if for no other reason than it would make them look impartial. I mean Michigan is the favorite, which means they went out of their way to pick against us. This is one special group.

Why is everyone picking Western? The radio guys this morning on ESPN all picked Western. All the papers pick Western too. It seems that the only one picking Michigan is Vegas. The line sits at -13. The track record suggests that Vegas is correct a lot more than any newsapaper.

If you look statistically vegas has a shit ton of money on the line and the best sports analysts in the world. F ESPN and the news papers vegas takes a completely un-bais look at the two teams and breaks them down further than anyone else. I will take vegas every time!

vegas sets lines based on how they interpret the betting to play out. a good line is set where equal money will be bet on each side of the line. michigan historically has a large and loyal fanbase. why not bet on your team to win? hence, in vegas, michigan rarely covers the spread.

I understand why people get annoyed when an unreasonable prediction is made (not going to take the time now to debate whether it is actually unreasonable or not), but it doesn't really make sense. Why should it have any effect on us if other people think Michigan will be bad? No one starts a complaint post when one of our own fans claims that we might go 13-0, but it is a big deal if sparty fans think we will be bad. I don't know, this is a post for myself as much as anyone else, because I get annoyed too, but really there is no reason to be.

Journalism's value is in presenting the truth, or at least the strongest argument for it. I have no problem with conclusions that I do not agree with as long as they are well argued, but faulty analysis and half-ass non-sequiturs will not cut it with me. Does a poor argument (of both varieties; in favor or opposed to UM's success) personally affect me? Not at all. But only fools ignore Newton's second law; poor arguments should expect criticism.

I can't imagine why the newspaper is dying; this drivel is beyond formulaic. Team A: Positive reference to returning talent. Unanswered questions regarding youth. Inconsequential reference to Team A's strength to Team B's weakness. Team B: Repeat Team A analysis. Result: Scores.

Personally, I've sworn off clicking on the Freep. We need one designated MGoBlogger to read it and cut/paste anything of note here, as done in the OP.

I have an impression for you guys and let's see if you can tell who I am. I am standing on top of my breakfast table with my pants around my ankles, I have an oatmeal bowl in front of me and I am currently urinating into it. That's right I am the writers from the Freep and I am pissing in my oatmeal. Damnit I can't stand that paper.

stop discussing what Snyder or Rosenberg have to say? I don't give a crap about what they think or predict. At best, they are trying to create a stir so they can sell their business. At worst, they are trying to progress a certain agenda. Either way, I have no respect for somebody that wants to smear another man's reputation simply for having a bug up his ass.

I agree with the analysis not matching the score. I read it and thought he was gonna predict an M victory, and then I read the last line. Makes no sense at all. I won't go to the Freep so I was wondering if Rosenfag had a prediction?

hey, is there anywhere to watch the game online? I'm 1/2 way around the world and it will be on at 3 am and the "local" channels don't carry it. They also have never heard of ABC, buts that's both a plus and a minus

Micheal Rothstein at A2.com, who is looking more and more like he and Mike Rosenberg were twins seperated at birth, also predicted WMU by 31-28. I think this is going to help the team, especially if it continues all year. Players often say they don't read the papers, but they read them. They know that they are getting no respect, even from the local outlets. Every prediction like this helps RR play the "no respect/us against the world" card, and I think it will result in UM being fired up for all twelve games this year. I really think that, unlike in most openers, UM is going to play WMU as hard as they would play a rivalry game. If they do, WMU should get treated like the sacrificial lamb they were meant to be.

And dumb ones at that. Picking Western Michigan to win is neither an indication of bias or stupidity. There are very reasonable arguments to pick Western to win. In the end, virtually everyone's dissatisfaction with Snyder's pick can be summed up as a) he doesn't agree with me so he's stupid, and/or b) he wrote an article I don't like so I'll rail on his pick but not others who made similar picks. Why do I think if a writer picked Michigan to win a game in which it was a 13 point dog, many around here would applaud the pick and chime in that "Michigan has a chance." Western is a team with a very good qb going up against a defense that was poor against the pass last year, breaking in a new defensive scheme and starting two new safeties. WMU has problems, too, sure, but picking the Broncos to win is neither an indication of bias or stupidity. Also, Snyder indicated he thought Michigan would lose this game in a season preview he wrote earlier in the week. This isn't new.
