Your premature Friday drinking thread
Fluffed off work today (sales calls) and flyfished the Pere Marquette. Put a couple beautiful steelhead and browns on the beach (released) and did a quasi-bar tour home. Nothing risky or illegal - had a Knob at nice little hole in the wall in Custer, then a Maker's near home, with a beer stop in between.
Listened to the Clash all the way down 31, and after checking in with office, got in a weekend fame of mind.
We'll beat OSU by 8 or more Sunday, don't worry your pretty little head. Now enjoying a Fat Tire or three with plans for a Lagavulin (and probably bed) by 10.
Beat Ohio, and have a great weekend.
(this is how you live your life when you're old)

I'm drinking my last Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA - tasty stuff. Why does the stuff that comes in 4-packs go so fast?
My preferred haunts are the Upper Manistee and the AuSable, but communing with any river is a good thing.

Over Christmas, my dad and I did an IPA taste-test between Dogfish Head and Founder's, with a handful of different varieties. This went on for a few days. At the end, we both decided the Founder's was better.

My daughter and son-in-law were here from DC over Christmas. I picked up a few different beers, although hardly enough to call it a taste test. I had not had the 90 minute before, so I thought I'd try it. I really like Founder's too.

Yeah, ours wasn't so much a taste test, as an attempt to bleed Grand Rapids dry of all IPA. We made a good dent.

It's not bad...just disapointing and over priced. The store rated it an A- so I figured I'd give it a shot.

I think your expected return on this wager is less than $20. Hard to believe M can spot double-digit points on the road.

Trader Joe's 2012 Vintage Ale. (Better than expected.) Will probably switch to Maker's Mark while listening to my g/f's Rumba Reggae band later on. Yes, she kicks ass.

samdrussBLUE: Here's 73 MGoPoints so you can make a thread or vote on posts from now on. One week of antibiotics, maybe four weeks after that you'll be in a much better place, so you don't turn back into a pumpkin until midnight after 2/18 (unless you post another 73 times by then, that is).

Started with a Früh, a nice Kolsch. Moved on to a Crown Brown ssent down my way from Indiana. From there, time for something a bit more hoppy; lucky me, have a few remaining Heady Toppers and some Zombie Dust.
Jealous of those who have already had this year's version of Hopslam. That and Troegs Nugget Nectar should both be arriving in next 2 weeks.

and Nugget Nectar in the fridge at the moment. I know people go nuts for heady, but I've never been that impressed. Had my first ever Hopslam yesterday, it's not too bad.

Not that I've ever been there, but if Sushi place has a chef named "Mitch" chances are it isn't the best.

Believe it or not, but some of the best sushi in the USA is at the Detroit Metro Airport. Right on the main terminal concourse in the middle of the airport. They have such an influx of Asian travelers to serve and please, all the ingredients are flown in continuously on the flights. Japanese businessmen traveling for the auto companies rave about it. Even some here in the Bay area prefer it to the locals. I have even seen favorable reviews about it in travel magazines in Japan.

Split a bottle of wine with my girlfriend at dinner, then just drank a bottle of Bell's Porter and now I'm off to Charlies. Keep it real everyone.

Just polished off the last of the Old Fezziwig, which is far and away my favorite of the Sam Adams winter sampler. I am pondering a Bell's Winter White and fear I may be unable to resist the call.

Sipping on some Kirkland Meritage. Very nice wine that's probably my favorite sub $10 bottle.
