Your premature Friday drinking thread

Submitted by wigeon on

Fluffed off work today (sales calls) and flyfished the Pere Marquette. Put a couple beautiful steelhead and browns on the beach (released) and did a quasi-bar tour home.  Nothing risky or illegal - had a Knob at nice little hole in the wall in Custer, then a Maker's near home, with a beer stop in between.

Listened to the Clash all the way down 31, and after checking in with office,  got in a weekend fame of mind.

We'll beat OSU by 8 or more Sunday, don't worry your pretty little head.  Now enjoying a Fat Tire or three with plans for a Lagavulin (and probably bed) by 10.

Beat Ohio, and have a great weekend.

Self-imposed detox month for me. Mineral water FTW. Makes staring at the hopslam I just pick up that much more difficult.

Ah shit, I'm late to the PosBang. Anyway, sitting at Ashley's sipping on a Founders Imperial Stout. Earlier I had a Hopslam and Kuhnhenn's Creme Brûlée Java Stout. Both awesome of course. This is why I love winter brews.

I'm drinking my last Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA - tasty stuff. Why does the stuff that comes in 4-packs go so fast?

My preferred haunts are the Upper Manistee and the AuSable, but communing with any river is a good thing.

samdrussBLUE: Here's 73 MGoPoints so you can make a thread or vote on posts from now on. One week of antibiotics, maybe four weeks after that you'll be in a much better place, so you don't turn back into a pumpkin until midnight after 2/18 (unless you post another 73 times by then, that is).

After hearing about your condition, I made the next several drinks for you "very stiff"! I hope you feel better soon. With the flu going around, I decided to stay in. Glad I did! Sorry to hear about your current condition, Get well soon!

Started with a Früh, a nice Kolsch. Moved on to a Crown Brown ssent down my way from Indiana. From there, time for something a bit more hoppy; lucky me, have a few remaining Heady Toppers and some Zombie Dust.

Jealous of those who have already had this year's version of Hopslam.  That and Troegs Nugget Nectar should both be arriving in next 2 weeks.

Killing the last third of a bottle of pinot gris.  It'd be a blackout drunk kind of night but for the fact that I'll probably crash before 10.  #oldpeopleproblems

OP, that sounds like a glorious day. I checked out a little early myself and hit an awesome bottle of Pinot noir from Willamette Valley in Oregon. Took the second bottle with my fiancé to Toro Sushi (Chicago). If you like sushi and are in Chicago, it is hands down the best in the city, and Mitch the chef is the man.

Believe it or not, but some of the best sushi in the USA is at the Detroit Metro Airport. Right on the main terminal concourse in the middle of the airport. They have such an influx of Asian travelers to serve and please, all the ingredients are flown in continuously on the flights. Japanese businessmen traveling for the auto companies rave about it.  Even some here in the Bay area prefer it to the locals. I have even seen favorable reviews about it in travel magazines in Japan.

Just polished off the last of the Old Fezziwig, which is far and away my favorite of the Sam Adams winter sampler.  I am pondering a Bell's Winter White and fear I may be unable to resist the call.

OP, if you are a fan of the delicious Lagavulin 16 yr, may I recommend their latest small release. It's a 12 yr bottled at cask strength. It is, in my humble opinion, even better than the 16.

Coming down from a second Hopslam and watching Inception for the first time. My brain can't handle this. A Founders Porter is the only thing that can help me...brblol
