Updated Rivals Rankings today at 12pm ET
Which player has the most to prove to you this upcoming all-star season?
Josh Helmholdt, Midwest: Alliance (Ohio) Marlington athleteDymonte Thomas could have the most to gain at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in January. Thomas has already proven he is a great athlete and one of the fastest players in the Midwest. We still have not seen him in coverage, though, and he is headed to Michigan next year to play safety. If the 6-foot-2, 192-pounder can show he has the range and coverage skills to play deep, he could be in line for a good bump come January.
Sounds like Dymonte is going to be a beast as far as run D and when he's sent on the blitz, but it will be interesting to see how he fares in coverage against some of the top WRs. Let's try and not overreact when we see Shane Morris fall down the rankings, obviously due to having mono, his stats aren't very impressive this year.
EDIT - Top 100

Are they just updating the 2013 class or the 2014 as well?

Just 2013.

Mike Farrell cracks me up on twitter when he retweets things that people say to him. Like if so and so recruit doesn't get a 5th star, you should just quit your job.

@scottslive: @rivalsmike If Damion Terry isn't a five star don't bother coming out with rankings.
Damion Terry is currently a 3 star, #35 Pro-style QB committed to Sparty.

He should be a five star. He was recruited off the planet Saturn.

Get ready to say mean things to him on Twitter then...

I'm from the future, sir.
In my time, Morris is still a 5 star (25 overall). Laquon is a 5 star as well, and the tenth highest recruit in the country. Other Michigan related guys:
Laquon Treadwell - 10 - 5*
Derrick Green - 14 - 5*
Leon McQuay - 19 - 5*
Shane Morris - 25 - 5*
Ty Isaac - 20 - 5*
Henry Poggi - 68 - 4*
Patrick Kugler - 79 - 4*
Mike McCray - 88 - 4*
Kyle Bosch - 99 - 4*

I believe I saw a tweet last week regarding Deveon Smith and Rivals rankings. Supposedly he's going to make a huge leap into the top 100 today due to the monster senior season he's having. Deveon my be one of our most underrated recruits to this point.
December 3rd, 2012 at 9:21 AM ^
I believe it was the guys at Tremendous guessing that he would be the one getting the bump. There is a RB in the list that wasn't in the top 300 before who is going to make a huge jump. Not sure it's him, but I have my fingers crossed!
December 3rd, 2012 at 9:57 AM ^
I do not think that will happen, but that's just me. Smith had a similarly monstrous season as a junior, too, so I don't know why big numbers would change that. I think the RB they're talking about is the Corey Clement kid from New Jersey who's committed to Wisconsin.
December 3rd, 2012 at 10:23 AM ^
If you're a recruiting service, declaring the Wisconsin RB commit underrated - and moving him way up - is probably a smart move. Just because of Wisky's system, Clement has a good chance of being a star, and this lets Rivals say, "See, we saw that in him when no one else did." If he were committed to Purdue, I don't think he'd be as likely to get that treatment.
I sometimes wonder if Beilein recruits get the same kind of bump (since Beilein is so good at getting the most out of them).
December 3rd, 2012 at 11:12 AM ^
To be fair, he already got a similar bump on 247, so while rivals may be smart to take that path, they wouldn't exactly be hailed as visionaries.

Smith had a better season, stat wise, last year. This was due to the fact that he ran behind a senior dominated line, including Penn St. commit, Anthony Stanko. This year, Howland had a small senior class and was not nearly as talented as the year before. The fact that Smith had such a solid year behind a very mediocre line was more impressive than his junior year, IMO.

Sorry for another "I heard" comment but I've also heard that Stribling is due for a big ratings bump. I was assuming that mean't he would be a 4-star.
Not that I care so much about stars and rankings, but it does seem like an affirmation of our coaches eye for talent, eh?
December 3rd, 2012 at 9:13 AM ^
Man I hope some of our players become better by getting more stars. And on the flip side I hope they don't become worse by getting stars taken away! Man this stuff is nerve wracking.

Eh, Barkely took a drop in the recruting rankings after his senior season stats weren't good after all the talent around him left. If Morris turns out similar, I'll be happy. Turns out QB's have better stats when their team is better. Who would have thought? I would be surprised if Deveon took such a huge jump. Not that it isn't deserved, but hasn't he been having monster seasons like every year he's played? I still think his top end speed is a little bit of a concern.

Is it a good sign that he didn't commit this weekend to Ole Miss?
December 3rd, 2012 at 10:06 AM ^
December 3rd, 2012 at 10:07 AM ^
There is no way to know with this kid. Following his recruitment will result only in headaches. It certainly isn't a bad sign however.
December 3rd, 2012 at 10:09 AM ^
Well, of course it's a good thing that he didn't commit. I'm not sure why you would ask a question like that...
...but Michigan is still trailing. My guess is that he picks Oklahoma in the end.
December 3rd, 2012 at 10:18 AM ^
ofcourse it's a good thing..... considering the alternative. I really thought there was a possibility that he might pull the trigger this weekend, so thats why I asked my, apparently "dumb" question

I have given up on enduring this strenuous recruitment for a while now.
December 3rd, 2012 at 10:17 AM ^
Actually, from what I saw about his ole miss visit was that he liked it a lot and that oklahoma and ole miss now lead. I think we should just move on from this recruitment...
December 3rd, 2012 at 12:21 PM ^
This is a great way of getting recruits. All we have to do is lead for them and expect other schools to pull the offers because we lead. Treadwell is talented and can choose whichever school he wants. If a recruit has that many offers, it can be expected that they will take their time and weigh their options. The longer things go on, the more information is available to the recruit. There is absolutely no point in giving up until signing day. To say that we should drop out of the race because he favors two other schools is just plain silly.
December 3rd, 2012 at 12:52 PM ^
I mean we as in those posting who are hoping for treadwell...not the coaches. calm down. Also, it's not like the coaches peruse my posts and use them as their guidance in their recruiting.

How does OU keep getting WRs. They don't produce any good ones and their passing game sucks no matter who be QB
December 3rd, 2012 at 11:01 AM ^
We're talking about Oklahoma not Oakland, Ryan Broyles only set NCAA records there and he was doing fine for the Lions until yesterday when his knee blew up.
December 3rd, 2012 at 11:10 AM ^
Mark Clayton, Ryan Broyles, Jermaine Gresham (a TE), Mark Bradley... They're not superstars in the NFL, but they were pretty good receivers in college. Their two leading receivers this year have caught 66 and 75 balls.
December 3rd, 2012 at 12:22 PM ^
I seem to remember OU having a great passing game. Two OU QBs won the Heisman recently.
December 3rd, 2012 at 12:46 PM ^
You have to give him credit though, it's an impressive post that gets everything wrong.
December 3rd, 2012 at 1:08 PM ^
Consider credit given.
December 3rd, 2012 at 2:00 PM ^
as much as Ole Miss. How are they even getting so many of these 5 stars to even visit? 6-6 team, about to land #1 player, possibly #1 WR, and I know its not likely, but they are high on Greens list.......its a head scratcher to say the least. Where there's smoke, there's fire!!!!
December 3rd, 2012 at 2:17 PM ^
New coach who likes to throw, SEC, weather, girls, former teammate on the roster... I don't blame him for at least taking a look.

hells yeah

I'm still holding out hope; he, Shane, and Derrick would combine to make the "Hoke can't recruit skill positions" meme die so hard.
December 3rd, 2012 at 12:14 PM ^
every recruit we lost out on goes up in the rankings and every commit we still have goes down?
December 3rd, 2012 at 12:15 PM ^
Shane still a 5 star at #25
McQuay #19
Isaac #20
Green #14
Treadwell #10

Poggi #68
Kugler #79
