Big Ten Championship Game Open Thread
Nebraska-Wisconsin. 8:00PM EST on FOX. Gus Johnson and Charles Davis are calling the game.
Various sources have the line in favor of Nebraska by 3. If Nebraska wins, Michigan is all but assured the Capital One Citrus Bowl against A&M (likely) or Georgia, while the conversation is a bit more complicated if Wisconsin wins.

I'm all for the "the Capital One Citrus Bowl" thing, but of all people to do it, should it really be the poster whose avatar is Peggy from the Discover Card commercials?

What is "Discover Card"? I know no "Discover Card".
I from USA Prime Credit, my name Peggy.

Think of the SEC fans' disappointment when they turn on FOX tonight to discover that they're showing a Big Ten football game instead of NASCAR, Jerry Springfield, or COPS...

who the fuck is jerry springfield? Is it Rick Springfield's younger brother?

Enough with the neutral site BS. Team with the highest record gets to host with a higher than usual number of guaranteed seats for the visitor (say 10,000). The number of empty seats in that building is outrageous.
And why would you have the big ten title game in the place in your conference that cares about football least?
December 1st, 2012 at 8:40 PM ^
Did you watch the Pac12 title game. That is the greatest argument against having one of the finalists host it. No one was there.
December 1st, 2012 at 8:45 PM ^
I think you meant: "it's the greatest argument against holding a championship in a driving downpour when your fans are weak California pussies"

Nebraska has probably been getting calls all year because Delaney knows they will come to this game more than any other fan base.
Delany is a camel killer

This sounds like something I've read on RCMB.

After going to the Nebraska game this year, I will always root for them if it doesn't affect us. Best hospatality, pre and post game treatment, and great fans (the anti osu fans).

At least Bo Pellini dressed up for the occasion.

Reserved seating for the bands, perhaps?
December 1st, 2012 at 8:22 PM ^
Is that stadium even 60% full? Besides more television income, can anyone tell me with a straight face that the brand has gotten stronger in the past ten years? Maybe that is what that idiot Delaney should be concerned with.

Nice nice nice playcall
December 1st, 2012 at 8:27 PM ^
They should just set up a field on a soundstage with the bands on the sidelines. These empty stadiums are embarrassing for everyone involved. Just makes it obvious that it's nothing more than a TV event.
December 1st, 2012 at 8:28 PM ^
I'm surprised TV stations haven't started using fake computer-generated footage of generic cheering fans to fill in the gaps.
December 1st, 2012 at 8:24 PM ^
Less than stellar open field tackling.

They only had a week to plan for this trip. The lack of time is the problem. Unless the B1G can convince lots of people in central Indiana to buy tickets to a game that may never involve local teams, there will probably always be a ton of empty seats.
December 1st, 2012 at 8:25 PM ^
This game is already embarrassing.
December 1st, 2012 at 8:25 PM ^
That was an interesting gamble - Nebraska sells out against Wisconsin being able to do much in the air. Melvin Gordon moves well in Nebraska's "cover who?" formation and scores. Wisconsin up 7-0 now.

What in the world did Bell do there?
December 1st, 2012 at 8:29 PM ^
Anybody else not watching this? Can't bring myself to watch it given how utterly mediocre these two teams are. Maybe it's just my disdain for Nebraska after that bullshit game against us and the fact Wisconsin finsihed 4-4 in the B1G. More or less a contest to see who will get fed to Stanford.

Down huge, playing like idiots early.
Now Wisconsin will throw 2 pick sixes and Beilema will punt from the NU 15 yd line at some point en-route to a 56-53 4OT win for the Huskers
December 1st, 2012 at 8:33 PM ^
Don't forget the horrible, game-changing call that will inevitably occur in the 4th quarter.
December 1st, 2012 at 8:30 PM ^
Holy crap. So a crappy team, in the middle of the pack in a crapppy year in the league, is going to win the B1G?
December 1st, 2012 at 8:30 PM ^
Bell knew that ball was thrown with too much Martinez mustard; way to slow it down some.

T-ragic. Doing his thing.
December 1st, 2012 at 8:32 PM ^
Wisconsin gets the interception and runs it home - Taylor Martinez has a genuine "WTF" look on his face to boot. 14-0 Badgers before anyone has even had a chance to really settle into this one. I assume that there will be a reminder from Pelini about "2011 mechanics vs. 2012 mechanics" forthcoming for Martinez.

The lower bowl is maybe 3/4, a SEVEN win team is on track to represent the Big Ten in the Rose Bowl, and Rutgers was just added. Thanks Mr. Delaney, but I'll be switching over to O'Reilly now instead of watching this debacle.
