OT: Boise State @ MSU this Friday. What are your predictions or thoughts?

Submitted by WingsNWolverines on

I'm sure many of us if not all of us (cause I know I am) are hoping to see the Broncos come into EL and tear the Spartans a new one but with Boise replacing pretty much their whole offense and some linemen on defense how do you think Boise State will fair against FYS this coming Friday? I fear this could very well be a rout for Sparty but with a new offense and QB at the helm I could also see them struggling in this game. Defensively though is where Sparty should kill them in my opinion.

It's not really what I'd like to see but I expect MSU will hammer this one out in a mostly defensive fashion.  Boise will initially find some rhythm on offense but will be held short of touchdowns on a couple occasions, and turn it over a couple times.  Between those shortcomings and Sparty's offense eating the clock the Broncos will only find paydirt once.

On the flip-side Michigan State will find running against the new Boise front surprisingly difficult, but effective enough to keep third downs managable enough that Maxwell can pick em' up on check-downs.  Never-the-less he'll still toss an interception or two due to inexperienced recievers breaking off their routes incorrectly the few times the Bronco defense holds the Spartans to 3rd and long.

Basically it'll be ugly and defensive.  Whichever team turns the ball over less has a decent chance at winning.  Since Sparty has themselves an established (if underwhelming) run game and an established defense I suspect it'll be them.

Maxwell will be fine, the WRs are what i'm worried about personally. Bennie Fowler has emerged as the #1 guy, but even then there will probably be some dropped passes early. I think Dion Sims has a big game as Fowler and Lippett get adjusted. 24-10

If this game was at Ford Field or any other nuetral site I would give boise a hell of a shot.

Even in all their wins the last couple yrs none of them were at the home teams stadium, while yes they were remotely close they were still nuetral field.

Cant stand Sparty but I have no doubt their D will be more than strong enough to handle this game...somwhere in the 31-10 range is my guess.

Also for shits and giggles I feel like Dallas will end in a 24-21 or 24-17 type of game.

Most of the bottle of whisky gone by the end of the first half.

Oh, the game....well, with most of the Bronco defense gone and with a brand-spankin'-new QB for Boise State, I'm afraid that Sparty will be 1-0 by the end of the night without much effort spent.

But I'd be happy if I'm proved wrong.

Sparty gets exposed as mediocre, but BSU gets exposed as a team that doesn't have the personnel to hang with even a mediocre Big Ten team during a rebuilding year.  Sparty wears them down in the second half and wins by twenty.

I predict that MSU has an opener against  a much easier team than Michigan does.  It's probably best for everyone in the B1G if both teams from Michigan prevail.

Honestly hope BSU pulls off another Oklahoma like upset!  Chris Petersen is one of the best coaches in CFB regardless of school size.  His guys will come to play, but I think MSU wins by at least 1 TD.

but I think MSU's D is going to crush Boise, & they'll win by double digits.
The Spartan hype train will continue chuggting down the tracks and I will hope for a major derailment October 20th.

the thing most people dont realize is that Boise played a ton of back ups the past few years because they were blowing out opponents, it's not like they are going to be starting all true freshmen, alot of these guys who are taking the place of starters from last year have a ton of game experience...the big test will be their d-line against msu's O-line, if MSU can run well then they win big, otherwise I vote Boise.
