Quick Dorian O'Daniel Update
I just got done chatting with top LB target Dorian O'Daniel who has recently set his visit date for the Spring Game on April 14th (teammate and five-star CB Kendall Fuller will join him). Dorian made a couple interesting comments:
- Florida, who is a school he has high on his list, took 4 linebackers this weekend. When I asked if this affected his view of them, he said "somewhat"
- On visiting Michigan: "I can't wait to go check out the Big House". I told him it was big and he said that "he can't wait to see it for himself".
- When asked if Michigan was on top: "I wouldn't say they are on top, but I do favor them"
He also wanted to know what positions our eight weekend commits played, because he hadn't gotten a chance to check out the pull yet. 247 Sports has Michigan as "warm" along with Florida and Ohio, so the fact that he made a point to mention UF's linebacker pull might bump them down a notch. He's definitely excited to get up to Ann Arbor.
EDIT: Keith at Tremendous did a great breakdown of Dorian's game a while back: Dorian O'Daniel

On a somewhat related note I wonder if Florida's LB haul will influence E. J. Levenberry, who's top 3 is FSU, Florida and Michigan. It would be nice if the gator's haul could influence 2 top LB's toward us

From what I am seeing it looks like the spring game could be Another big multi-commitment day.
February 20th, 2012 at 7:57 PM ^
Agreed. I really hope we win the game.
February 20th, 2012 at 8:27 PM ^
I see what you did there.
Just for clarification I do know what maize and blue game is.
February 20th, 2012 at 7:44 PM ^
all your linebacker recruits from Florida. Sounds like he definatley is looking at the depth chart and playing time is gonna be a major factor in his recruiting process. Hopefully he loves the Big House as much as all these other recruits do. Go get em Hoke.
February 20th, 2012 at 7:44 PM ^
O'Daniel would be a O'Maizing pickup
February 20th, 2012 at 7:45 PM ^
i shall buckle up on April 13th just to be on the safe side.

Problem is, of course:
#GC 2013 LB Dorian O'Daniel says he will make is college choice announcement at the @ArmyAllAmerican Bowl next January
#GC 2013 ATH and Rivals 5 Star Kendall Fuller plans on making his college selection at the @ArmyAllAmerican Game next January
There looks to be quite a wait. We've overcome that before, though.
February 20th, 2012 at 9:17 PM ^
Also, Logan Tuley-Tillman is not going to decide until after he takes his official visits. Wait...
February 20th, 2012 at 9:45 PM ^
...thus, "we've overcome that before".
February 20th, 2012 at 7:49 PM ^
Kendal Fuller visiting. But that's just me.
February 20th, 2012 at 7:54 PM ^
They're visiting together.
February 20th, 2012 at 7:56 PM ^
General consensus is that Fuller will probably be pulled to VA Tech by familial ties, whereas O'Daniel appears to be more open to a true recruitment. Not that we'd turn down either of these players . . .

February 20th, 2012 at 10:26 PM ^
Brothers. He has two brothers on the team currently and one who moved on from Va Tech to the NFL several years ago.
February 20th, 2012 at 7:55 PM ^
Yeah but we have a more realistic shot with O'Daniel
February 20th, 2012 at 7:55 PM ^
I notice on the MGoBlog Offer List, O"Daniel is listed under running backs. Should that be changed, or are we considering him for offense as well?

February 20th, 2012 at 7:59 PM ^
Where do we stand right now with Levenberry?
February 20th, 2012 at 8:00 PM ^
Two HS teammates visiting on the same weekend? Worked out pretty well for us last time.
February 20th, 2012 at 10:10 PM ^
I know you are refrenceing the cass tech duo this week but for some reason my brain shot bat to '10 when hart and haha were on campus together.. bang head against wall and thank god we have hoke.. or thank hoke we have god???
February 20th, 2012 at 8:00 PM ^
better hurry up and install seat belts in the Big House. Wouldn't want any MGoBloggers getting injured at the Maize & Blue game.
February 20th, 2012 at 8:03 PM ^
Please let us start a Good Counsel connection.
February 20th, 2012 at 8:19 PM ^
would have loved to snag Diggs but adding Dorian O' Daniel and or Fuller would make up for losing out to Diggs and would start a great connection to Good Counsel which has a few D-1 prospects every year.
February 20th, 2012 at 8:10 PM ^
Aquaman, did you ever receive clarification on Pocic's top 3?
February 20th, 2012 at 8:21 PM ^
It was a hoax. No such top 3 exists. Many were duped.
February 20th, 2012 at 8:47 PM ^
Tim and Tom both talked to Ethan who clarified it wasn't true at all. I talked with Ethan also later on and directed him to the original tweet. He wasn't very happy about it, as you would expect.
February 20th, 2012 at 8:11 PM ^
Now that you're part of the mgoblog team, you should start your posts with "Aqua:" or "AQUA:" if you want to be totally rad.

I kinda would like a Cass Tech type of feeder school though. Yes Blake is the man but with all the talent Good Counsel has I sure as heck dont want it to stop at just him.
February 20th, 2012 at 8:42 PM ^
When you say "Cass Tech type" that essentially means that everyone from that school who's any good, goes to Michigan. That would be cool and all, but OLGC is kind of a national power (and 600 miles away at that
) whereas Cass Tech is a regional/local one. That would be sweet and all, but I'd be happy to get one guy out of there a year.February 20th, 2012 at 9:00 PM ^
I was just wanting a feeder school outside of Michigan like a Good Counsel. I know we cant get every player that goes there, Fuller is a mortal lock to play with his brothers a Va Tech, but Dorian on the other hand is pretty high on the U of M. I know we cant get every D-1 prospect they have but one a year or 1 every other year will start a pipeline that could otherwise get a kid at Good Counsel who is just coming cause 2 or 3 of his teamates are already here. So I know Cass Tech and Good Counsel can never be the same kind of pipeline.
February 20th, 2012 at 8:17 PM ^
I heard a rumor that recently performed forensics tests reveal that Dorian O'Daniel is seventeeth cousins quadrice removed with Stefon Diggs, Yuri Wright and Alex Kozan. Also, I heard that all four of them are going on a Navajo vision quest after the spring game, so Do'D's visit is gonna be really key for our recruiting prospects.

Where was Demar??

hey, aren't u supposed to start everything you say with "Yo-"
February 20th, 2012 at 8:22 PM ^
Fuck my life. My recruiting boner is creeping back up.
February 20th, 2012 at 8:32 PM ^
So we lead but we don't lead
Our LB class can be stacked as well. O'Daniel, Levenberry, Gedeon, and Anzalone all like us.
February 20th, 2012 at 8:44 PM ^
Sounds like a smart guy with an open mind. We should show him how we do it in AA. The fact that its going to be a pair visit can only help us methinks
February 20th, 2012 at 9:11 PM ^
Fluid athlete, above average in coverage, and is a technique tackler. That Good Counsel program is a powerhouse on the east Texas level. To me, Kendal Fuller is the best prospect in the country, and I mean that. Get he and Dorian together on the same trip, let them lather up in some Schembechler Hall butter, take them on a tour of the Big House, and things can happen. I would openly call Michigan's class the best, if ya'll were to finish with the following.
-Laquon Treadwell
-Ty Isaac, who needs to go ahead and commit to Michigan. Someone name a recruit that is a better fit with a school than Ty Isaac is with Michigan.
-E.J Levenberry
-Dorian O'Daniel
You wouldn't even need Fuller at that point, but if you got him, Gawd, would that make your class amazing. Not to mention, that in adddition to the people I just mentioned, Michigan is probably in on 10-11 more 4 star kids.
February 20th, 2012 at 9:20 PM ^
I hope your right on a few of those kids and hell if your right on all four of those look out. But it is nice to get a outside look on our incoming class so far.
February 20th, 2012 at 9:21 PM ^
While it would be nice to consider that class the best, I see OSU and Alabama having similar classes. Alabama already has 3 top 35 players, and all 7 of their commits are in the top 200 players. And while OSU only has 4 commits, they are all top 150 kids, and they will definitely be in on a lot of other highly rated players, there are at least 3 more in the top 50 I could see them picking up. Those three will have some incredible recruiting classes, and I'm sure Florida and Texas will be up there too.
February 20th, 2012 at 9:39 PM ^
Hey RDT:
Are you going to be at the Michigan vs. Alabama game at Jerry's World? It would be fun to meet up with a level headed Alabama fan.
I am really looking forward to that trip! The atmosphere will be electric...
February 20th, 2012 at 10:49 PM ^
you're being too kind with your words. I feel like we're being trojan horsed here. Seriously, Bama has always been a program I respected (Saban not included). I look forward to seeing your posts.
February 20th, 2012 at 11:42 PM ^
Michigan fan in Tide disguise.
A closet wolverine.
I mean it.
February 20th, 2012 at 9:22 PM ^
Which of our linebacker recruits are projected to play strong side?
February 20th, 2012 at 9:34 PM ^
f you're talking about 2013 LBs, not O'Daniel. He's a little guy. Ditto with the PA lb we just offered. Levenberry is the biggest guy we have a good shot at, at the moment.
February 20th, 2012 at 10:35 PM ^
Um, if the PA kid you're talking about is Anzalone, he's 6'3" and likely a SAM.
