Eh, you know what? Road win in the Big Ten is road win in the Big Ten. Thumbs up.

OSU next. Huge game on Sunday
January 24th, 2012 at 9:02 PM ^
Should never of been that close. Purdue started to get points after that terrible out of bounds no call. Then JB foolishly sits Morgan for no reason.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:04 PM ^
It's a road win against a probable tourney team. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:45 PM ^
Beilein's record as a coach in Division 1: 557-344
at Michigan: 83-71 (with win tonight)
So, let's see, you call him foolish for when he sat Morgan although he has over 900 games experience as a head coach.....
I think we will trust his judgement and let your comments sink into history.....

My heart stopped and I had a flashback of Wisconsin while the ball was in the air.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:02 PM ^
We won, I'm happy we played ugly on the road and escaped with a win, but too many mistakes.
Even at the end...Smotz passes the ball to Novak and the game is over.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:04 PM ^
i thought smot was going to travel. it was close.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:13 PM ^
He shouldn't be dribbling in the first place...catch the ball, face up...if you get fouled - great...if not, you'll see you're wide open and you can make an easy pass to Novak for the win.
Instead every time he touches the ball, he puts in on the floor. Most frustrating thing ever. Just run around, set screens, pick and pop and knock down long jumpsots that extend the floor. We don't need you to handle the ball.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:31 PM ^
i just think he was so scared that he was about to run with the ball w/o dribbling.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:02 PM ^
Yesss!!!! Finally a road win. Huge start to a tough stretch.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:02 PM ^
Oh god, that backboard was scaring me....but hey, good game got the road win!
January 24th, 2012 at 9:03 PM ^
Phew! Hung on for the win.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:03 PM ^
WAHOOOOO!!!
January 24th, 2012 at 9:03 PM ^
Yesssssss for a road win. No such thing as a bad road win. Also it should be a rule that teams with gray or black alternate jerseys that don't have gray (or silver) or black in their colors must start every game with a 10-point deficit.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:04 PM ^
Visions of Wisconsin and Evan Turner flashed through my head. Was not fun.
Woooooo road win.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:04 PM ^
Ugh, anyone else feeling drained? This team will kill me.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:11 PM ^
No Evan Turner moment on this night, Big Blue gets its first road win now lets get the fuck out of Indiana! Now it is on to Columbus where we already pissed and marked our territory from November 2011. Beat them Bucks!
January 24th, 2012 at 9:16 PM ^
Big Blue? Really?
January 24th, 2012 at 10:43 PM ^
IBM? Ohhh yeah, you must mean the NY Giants are going to the Super Bowl!
January 24th, 2012 at 9:07 PM ^
I'll take the win. Definitely wasn't pretty, but they won a road game in a tough arena against a team that has a chance to make the tournament. At this point, this was a game they should have lost but didn't, and takes the sting away from the Arkansas loss, at least a bit.
Hardaway needs to attack the rim more, though - this move-the-ball-around-the-outside-for-32-seconds each possession will kill me, and he's the only guy (along with Burke, sometimes) that I think can make teams pay.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:08 PM ^
frustrating to watch but glad we got the win...
January 24th, 2012 at 9:08 PM ^
our last 4 games have been decided by 7 points.
I dunno how much longer I can handle this.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:12 PM ^
And just think, come Tourney time it's only gonna get worse....

Come Tourney time, I'll actually be quite happy.

There's a distinct possibility I would have punched a hole in my bathroom wall had that last shot gone in. Still, that last Purdue possession before Smot's free throws was infuriating. I saw Purdue leaving us with 1 second, maybe, after nailing an easy lay up.
Still, a win is a win, and a road win against a good team is even better. It'll be some good momentum going heading into Sunday with TSIO.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:29 PM ^
You have a TV in the bathroom, but you don't have stainless steel walls?
January 24th, 2012 at 9:09 PM ^
I guess i don't understand why Smotz decided to almost lose the game... All he had to do was fuckin give it to Novak and let time run out.. Lucky we actually won on the road
January 24th, 2012 at 9:26 PM ^
Yeah novack was wide open. I saw that too.

Here's a breif recap...
Burke looked like he had no legs all night, Coach B made two huge mistakes tonight...1. He sat Morgan WAAAAY too long in the 2nd half, and 2. He never switched Stu to guard the Purdue PG who was blowing by Burke.
I can't blame Burke, Arkansas had to have taken everything out of him. He was drained and it showed. I hope that wasn't his "freshman wall"...we need to get him some rest.
Hardaway played so much better when he was mad. He came on in the 2nd half with his head in the game and took OFF. He's been a 2nd half player, but he had a different look in his eye as he went to work in the 2nd half. Hopefully he can hold on to that feeling and stay in the game for 40 minutes rather than 15-20.
Morgan is playing the best basketball of anyone on the team right now.
Novak and Douglass are themselves.
Smotz looks disinterested after losing his starting job, that double-double guy is gone. He needs to find him.
Teams will look at this film and see how Purdue trapped the pick and roll, we're going to have to find other offense...we were lucky to escape with a win, but it was one where the better team DID win.

Belien only made one huge mistake, that was not calling you for advice
January 24th, 2012 at 10:16 PM ^
Agree on 1, but he did switch Stu onto Jackson for much of the second half. The blow-bys decreased, but that guy was still the quickest guy on the floor.
I'd add that 3, people calling for THJ to be benched are dumb. Who replaces him? Smot? Vogrich? He'll shoot his way out of this slump, might have started tonight <knock on wood>

Progamming note: Team 132's win over Ohio game replay on BTN at 9:30
January 24th, 2012 at 9:11 PM ^
Talk about role reversal. Purdue shot 11 more three pointers than UM tonight.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:14 PM ^
us not winning on the road and stop using their sample size of 4 games to extrapolate this over the entire season.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:16 PM ^
Now go get road win number 2 on Sunday.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:21 PM ^

Over a 4 second call. Even after he went thru the replay and counted twice as fast it still came out 4 seconds. What an asshat.

The road game victory seal has been broken. Of road games remaining, looks like a couple we should, a couple of toss-ups, and a couple where we'll be underdogs. Would be happy to split those, take care of business at home, and get a good bid.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:53 PM ^
dun dun dun dun dun beat Ohio dun dun dun dun dun
January 24th, 2012 at 9:56 PM ^
I just finished the game on DVR. Why the HELL was Morgan sitting that long? Frustrating game to watch, but typical B1G road game. The teams we have played on the road are just beating the crap outta our guys and getting away with it. I don't know if its just me, but does it seem like we don't do that to teams that come in to AA?
January 24th, 2012 at 10:02 PM ^
me a lot of the MSU game. We get up by double digits, look comfortable and then the other team goes on a run. Good thing we came back to win it. So frustrating watching Morgan sit on the bench and then come back and kick start a 5-0 run to get us ahead again. Smot just got owned on defense and on the boards. Hopefully Belien learns from this and doesn't leave Smot at the 5 for an extended period of time.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:10 PM ^
We need Smot to play better if we want to get any better than what we are right now. We need to be deeper in the post.
