I'm guessing that the coaches are telling him he is an important part of the offense, so he probably feels like he needs to carry the load.  I mean, he is clearly an important part of our offense.

I don't necessarily think it's selfish of him to take a lot of shots, as someone needs to score, but I do agree that he has a quick trigger and forces up too many contested 3s.

I dunno, I just get the feeling that he cares a lot and wants the team to do well.

Again, this could be a coaching thing.  A lot of teams will have guards release early in the hopes of fast breaks, ie UCLA a few years ago with Kevin Love patrolling the lane.

Obviously we don't have a Love-caliber rebounder, plus Belein's philosophy doesn't emphasize rebounding as much as a lot of coaches, so who knows.

All I'm saying is, it's easy to call a scorer selfish when he's struggling.  When THJ was knocking those shots down last year, no one called him selfish.

Beilein's halftime speech needs to include some version of the up up down down left right left right B A cheat code that Arkansas used to shoot in the first half.

That was a fun first half. M ain't in bad postition. 13 down in this type of game isn't too much to overcome. Watch M battle back in the 2nd half. This is what I love about this team. They battle til the end

Assuming Ark cools down...if Burke can remember to look to pass when he penetrates and Hardaway can remove his head from his ass, we can win this.

I turned on the game late and heard the announcer say Arkansas was 10-10 from the floor.   Arkansas can beat any team in the country shooting as well as they have this half.   If it continues into the second half, good work Arkansas, that's ridiculously good shooting.   We just have to hope they actually miss the shots they normally miss.   Otherwise, there is no defense against never missing shots.

And it's not like we weren't contesting a lot of their shots.  Yes, a bunch of open looks were given, but some of their cross-over/super spin shots were pretty well defended with a hand in their face.

Hoping Arkansas comes back to reality shooting in the 2nd half

Good news and bad news.

Bad: down by 13 at half.

Good: there is no way Ark will shoot 65% in the second half. When the junk shots stopped falling their lead diminished.

Beilein is an excellent coach and make solid second half adjustments. This game is not over, Arkansas' style is ripe for comebacks.

Delayed and finally canceled their flight. They ended up getting ON a bus at like 3 in the morning and arriving at 5 am. I think in that condition my fraternity intramural team might have had a chance against them. I would not hang my head if I was a Purdue fan over that game.
