The future has been created, today we find out: Open Thread
The current rumor is Ohio game moved to October, MSU game moved to last Saturday in November thus destroying the MSU - Indiana protected rivalry. Other rumors include to hell with Notre Dame, and Michigan to the Big East (OK, I made that one up). What say you?
UPDATE: Kelvin Grady, en route to New Orleans, doesn't seem too bothered.

I posted this exact thing yesterday but a moderator must have removed it.

But if the announcement is B10 related (and not just Michigan), it could actually be about throwing PSU out because of the complete lack of morals of the entire athletic department / administration by allowing a known sicko around their students.
Doubt the ND part, but the PSU part could be accurate.
December 28th, 2011 at 10:49 AM ^
I don't think that the B1G would kick PSU out quite yet (although I have to admit that it was the first thing I thought of when I heard the news that There Will Be News). I think they'd probably wait to see what shakes out in court with the Sandusky trial. However, I can imagine the Big Ten putting sanctions on Penn State so that they are already punished next football season instead of whenever Sandusky's trials and appeals and what have you finally get resolved.

Replace with Missouri
December 28th, 2011 at 11:54 AM ^
Or add both.
December 28th, 2011 at 9:48 AM ^
What time is this announcement?
December 28th, 2011 at 9:56 AM ^
is at 4pm
December 28th, 2011 at 11:02 AM ^
Shouldn't your brother know?
December 28th, 2011 at 12:40 PM ^
Ever since Brian ate his brother's pretzel, they haven't been on speaking terms.
December 28th, 2011 at 9:49 AM ^
I say that they boot Penn State from the Big Ten and add Notre Dame. The institutional behavior at that school is unbecoming of a Big Ten organization, period.
December 28th, 2011 at 10:10 AM ^
if this was true i would truely enjoy it

Scientists have bred a wolverine that ate Tacopants and weighs more than the boilermaker train, making it the heaviest and largest mascot in NCAA football. Tide's don't count until scientists create an embodiment of a tide. Nascar decals don't apply.

and its denard
December 28th, 2011 at 10:14 AM ^
Flame. Everyone knows Charles will be the first Wolverine cloned once the university's department of human genetics perfects the process.

9 Game Conference Sked coming and OSU-Michigan being moved to October.
December 28th, 2011 at 10:26 AM ^
Is that just your speculation, or is that based on rumblings you've been hearing?
December 28th, 2011 at 10:39 AM ^
Speculation based on some further hints the guy at Scout who started this all has dropped. Don't know for sure what announcement is but have an idea of what it isn't and the above is the only logical conclusion I can come up with.
December 28th, 2011 at 11:03 AM ^
I approve of a 9 game schedule but michigan should play osu in november even if its not the last week. I see they merit in having the last game of the year be a divisional game because having to beat the same team two weeks in a row is hard to do in any league.
Side note, msu fans lose it when the B1G schedules Nebraska to be Michigan's last game of the year. Then they start talking about how great the MSU Northwestern rivalry is.
December 28th, 2011 at 10:20 AM ^
PSU is being booted from the B1G to be replaced by Pitt.
December 28th, 2011 at 11:05 AM ^
MSU to MAC replaced by ND or Missouri or Pitt. Hey, it could happen!

MSU announcing a self-imposed a ban on going to the BTCG, so they can't be harmed by losing.

Oh man! The excitement (or nervous anxiety)! Supposedly something will be undone and something will be new.
My hopes/optimistic guesses:
Undone: The Big Ten title game will be held in Chicago so we can actually do something fun in addition to the title game, which takes up all of 3 hours.
New: The Big Ten schedule goes to 9 games and the September non-conference schedule will include a few Big Ten games each Saturday so we don't have MACrifice Saturdays.
Or both: We get rid of the dumb, pompous Divisional names and go with something simple like East and West. We can be Champions of the West for realz.
My worries/not-so optimistic guesses:
Undone: Michigan-Ohio moved to October
New: Sparty's bitching and moaning gets them a Thanksgiving weekend game versus us.
December 28th, 2011 at 10:31 AM ^
B10 will reverse its decision to go to a 9-game conference schedule. You heard it here first.
December 28th, 2011 at 10:35 AM ^
so i know that dave brandon has the final say but do you really think that if he does want to change the date of the Ohio game that Hoke wouldnt be right up in is office chewing him out? Hoke, and it seems the rest of the influential people within the university since RR didnt even have a chance, care about michigan tradition. it just doesnt seem to me that there wouldnt be resistance to this.
December 28th, 2011 at 10:36 AM ^
If this is a conference thing.

Do we know for sure this is even football related?
December 28th, 2011 at 10:42 AM ^
which is why its not happening.
December 28th, 2011 at 10:40 AM ^
I have a feeling this announcement is not going to be huge or even that exciting. Nothing big happens anymore with twitter breaking everything three days in advance. I say I could be a scheduling thing but maybe it is just some normal house cleaning or a state-of-the-conference type thing which they pat themselves on the back.
December 28th, 2011 at 10:56 AM ^
It will be known as Dave Brandon's House. Hockey will play at Brandon, Basketball will play at the Dominos arena.
December 28th, 2011 at 10:50 AM ^
...is so full of funny, frightening ideas. The whole thing could be entitled, "Not Sure If Serious."
Is an announcement made on December 28 sort of like those announcements made at Washington's favorite news-dump time of 4:30 on a Friday?
December 28th, 2011 at 11:01 AM ^
I had the exact same thought. If you are going to announce something that is going to piss people off, the best time to do it is when everyone is on vacation / not paying attention, to minimize the resulting outcry. Based upon this theory, I am expecting this announcement to involve moving the OSU game to mid-October, with Brandon spinning it as, "once order has been restored, the M/OSU game will remain on the last week, as we expect to meet them regularly in the B10CG."
If true, I am sad.
December 28th, 2011 at 11:29 AM ^
and oh so possible in the current world of college athletics where,if it can be tinkered with/changed/fucked up, it will be.
December 28th, 2011 at 10:55 AM ^
will the B1G move the Ohio game! It's the B1Ggest thing the conference has. They'd be out of their minds in tampering with the NCAA's marquee game!
December 28th, 2011 at 11:52 AM ^
not be registering at all on the OSU blogs? Is there anything going on on their end?
December 28th, 2011 at 12:50 PM ^
What is going on at the OSU ends? Their bottom ends are looking for coolers and there never was much that went on in their top end.
December 28th, 2011 at 10:50 AM ^
I was hoping it was maybe the next night game, but that sounds doubtful
December 28th, 2011 at 11:19 AM ^
That was my theory. UM v MSU under the lights
December 28th, 2011 at 11:26 AM ^
DB has said no Sparty under the lights.

December 28th, 2011 at 11:03 AM ^
I haven't seen a reference alluding to anything big happening today anywhere? Wut.
December 28th, 2011 at 11:09 AM ^
Who is making the announcement? Michigan? The Big Ten? or the NCAA?
December 28th, 2011 at 11:11 AM ^
The Michigan-OSU should always be played at the end of November and if Dave Brandon moves it an uproar shall commence.
December 28th, 2011 at 11:15 AM ^
Somehow I don't think Dave Brandon would be the party responsible in that instance
December 28th, 2011 at 11:23 AM ^
Don't touch The Game, just put OSU and Michigan in the same division
December 28th, 2011 at 11:26 AM ^
Swap Michigan and Wisconsin. Wisconsin would have their rivalry with Nebraska, Michigan would have a protected game with MSU and The Game would stay right were it should be.
December 28th, 2011 at 11:43 AM ^
That would really work out perfectly. MSU is already a midseason game, too, so if there were ever a rematch it wouldn't be on back-to-back weeks. I don't know why the Big Ten can't figure this out.
