The lions become a good team. You're all welcome.

I moved to Chicago and NOW they're good. figures.
December 24th, 2011 at 9:47 PM ^
At least you still get to watch them, I joined the Army and the Lions make the playoffs. I go back to Fort Leonardwood Jan 3rd and will have no freaking clue how they are doing. Oh and the worst part about it... My flight leave Metro airport at 5:30, so I will be missing the Sugar Bowl as well. Sucks Sucks Sucks Sucks Sucks.

Well thats no good, but your service is appreciated. Believe that

Thanks Jmilan, I know everyone in the military appreciates the support. I'm just happy to be able to spend the holidays with my family and friends.

any idea who we'll play in first round?

December 24th, 2011 at 7:08 PM ^
Hopefully we get the Niners
December 24th, 2011 at 7:12 PM ^
I'm holding out hope for playing the cowboys. I think we would have a lot better chance against them, rather than a 49ers team that already beat us once.
December 24th, 2011 at 10:55 PM ^
might be a better opponent but I think the Lions might be motivated taking on the niners again after what happened last time.
December 24th, 2011 at 7:18 PM ^
From my perspective the most likely opponent at this point appears to be the NO( if SF holds on) and SF if they don't. If they beat GB next week(and since that hasn't happened in forever I'm not holding my breath), then it's more likely they play the NYG/Dal since Atl is likely to drop the game to NO. Now my dream scenario as a Falcons fan that has about a .1% shot of happening is that if Atl wins out and NO loses to Car in week 17, then Atl wins the NFC south and would host Detroit as a 3 seed.
So by my best guestimate:
NO: 45%
SF 30%
Dal/NYG winner: 24.9%
Atl: .1%

it would enable me to drive the 90 miles north and see the Lions play!
December 24th, 2011 at 11:27 PM ^
If the Lions play at New Orleans in the playoffs, I will have seen two Lions games and one Wolverines game within one month in my neighborhood. Not sure what i did to please the football gods.

These post-season games are huge for both teams.
December 24th, 2011 at 7:48 PM ^
It'd be the Giants.
December 24th, 2011 at 10:33 PM ^
But, that's based on the fact that the Lions are 10-5 while the Falcons are only 9-5...need them to lose to NO Sunday night. And probably the Lions winning at Lambeau (unless Atl loses 2).
December 25th, 2011 at 12:56 AM ^
To the Saints is a stretch; and if the Pack win tomorrow, the Lions would b playing for position vs. a team just trying to avoid injuries against a team that stomps their players. I'm not sure Aaron Rodgers back-up is insurmountable.
December 24th, 2011 at 7:11 PM ^
I have no passion for the Lions, is that ok?
December 24th, 2011 at 7:20 PM ^
I mean sure it's not a moral flaw or anything, but it does lead to the question as to why you posted in a thread about them.
December 24th, 2011 at 7:13 PM ^
So happy to see the Lions in the playoffs! Last time they made the playoffs I was 5.
December 24th, 2011 at 7:19 PM ^
wow making me feel old. at least you don't remember the heartbreaking runs in the 90's

in the playoffs.
I was 27 when the the Lions beat Dallas 31-7 for their sole playoff win in my lifetime.
December 24th, 2011 at 7:21 PM ^
...a bit John Phillip Sousa, yes.
December 24th, 2011 at 7:20 PM ^
...and have never experienced the Lions in the playoffs. I only started watching sports in 2001. I'm glad to call myself a TRUE Lions fan!
December 24th, 2011 at 7:21 PM ^
they will blow it in the playoffs
December 24th, 2011 at 7:25 PM ^
Man you know the Lions have arrived when they attract haters on the board.
December 24th, 2011 at 7:49 PM ^
Who said the Bears were on the upswing and the Lions on the downswing?
December 24th, 2011 at 10:07 PM ^
they came from 0-16 to the playoffs in 3 years. At this point, there is nothing they can do that would blow it or ruin this season. So don't be an ass.
December 24th, 2011 at 7:23 PM ^
But I am happy for all of the Lions fans on this board! Congrats!!!
December 24th, 2011 at 7:24 PM ^
is the franchise.....congrads lions u earned it......
December 24th, 2011 at 8:43 PM ^
Congrads come from EL, we don't need them here tonight.
I love this quote from Schwartz. "There's going to come a time when we don't celebrate going to the playoffs - It's not going to be tonight"
December 24th, 2011 at 7:31 PM ^
Hell yes. Go Lions. Austin 3:16

Hopefully there will be more partying over the next several weeks!
December 24th, 2011 at 9:32 PM ^
Whats so much better about this Lions teams is that they put together by far their best performance of the season in late December. The '99 team lost its last four games and limped into a predictable playoff slaughter.
When Stafford gets decent time and this team doesn't kill itself with penalties, they can beat anyone.
December 24th, 2011 at 8:11 PM ^
let's make a run.
December 24th, 2011 at 9:11 PM ^
Being a Lions fan here in San Diego, all week I've had to listen to the local slappies talking about how the Chargers were going to pass all over the Lions DB's (which I have to admit I was kinda thinking too), especially after just last week the Chargers destroyed the Ravens Defense. Anyway, after so many dreadful seasons as a Lions fan, it is SO TREMENDOUS that they even made the playoffs! Go BLUE, and Go Lions!!! Make a little noise in the playoffs!
December 24th, 2011 at 9:21 PM ^
Best game of the year, besides the MERDA of Tebow.
December 24th, 2011 at 9:23 PM ^
The neg in this thread comes from bdsisme, an East Coast native who has complained in the past several times about threads for Detroit teams on this board.
What a snotty little bitch.
