Borges NOT interested in Florida
Couldn't resist posting, simply because of the quote.
[are you in interested in Florida]
"No," Borges said. "This is Michigan, for god sakes. In the noble words of someone we all know and love.
"Next question."

Why would Big Al leave Michigan. I know he coached with Muschamp at Auburn, but he has been with Brady for a while now and Michigan is on the up and up. Why stir the pot?
December 20th, 2011 at 2:43 PM ^
Because the quote is practically a t-shirt.
A more appropriate photo would be me wiping an appreciative tear from my eye.

Good for Al. That man is pure class, and I hope we keep him until he's done with football.

Today is a great day!
Self Edit: tOSU flushed, wife's present came in the mail that both of us will love, and Big Al stays in AA.

That quote is so full of win I can hardly stand it!
(Also amplified by euphoric Ohio schadenfreude.)

MGoBlog article 12 section 2 paragraph 4
"Any content refering to Michigan's Offensive Coordinator 'Al Gorgeous Borges' is required to also contain a photo from file."
For shame, for shame.

I really thought he might consider leaving the team with a Heisman favorite, a thousand yard back, 4 offensive line starters, three proven wideouts, a versatile 3rd down back, a talented fullback, and an experienced, blue-chip, backup QB to groom for the future or use in case of emergency all coming back next season. All so he could ride the John Brantley gravy train to stardom and untold riches.
Seriously, I thought that was totally going to happen. For real.

"Change tends to be met with resistance," Borges said. "But the best thing I've learned is to close your mouth and open your mind. If you can do that, you can develop yourself as a football coach and develop as a football team. It keeps you on your toes, and at one point in time, you embrace something new. If you have an open mind."
December 20th, 2011 at 3:53 PM ^
If you take out football, that quote is applicable to life in general.

As has been mentioned already, today is a great day! For all of the reasons stated above, Ohio sanctions, Borges sticking around, the new MGOBLOG comic strip, and I received a telephone call to inform me that I WON and all expense paid trip to the BCS National Championship game for myself and 3 friends!!! Christmas has come early!
December 20th, 2011 at 8:18 PM ^
I sure am glad we are such good friends. Can't wait!

Keep this staff together for years. Hoke + Mattison + Borges = multiple B1G championships and much happiness for M fans everywhere.
December 20th, 2011 at 5:10 PM ^
Let's see, Denard for another year and then Devin Gardner and Shane Morris or a tire fire.....
December 20th, 2011 at 5:20 PM ^
an assumption that there will be a long line of dual threat qb's coming to michigan. DR and DG were not recruited by this coaching staff. they are RR guys. is there a chance that this offense will eventually revert back to the drop back passer with a philosophy of 3 yards and a cloud of dust? perhaps only time will tell, but i believe that after seeing how a hybrid type offense like we have enjoyed this season is better than both a pro-style and a read-option offense.
December 20th, 2011 at 6:51 PM ^
Is Gardner really a dual-threat QB? He's kind of mobile but doesn't seem like a breakaway threat like Denard.
December 20th, 2011 at 7:34 PM ^
is a dual threat. just because he does not have the same speed as DR, does not make him only a mobile qb. if i recall correctly, rivals and scout did list DG as a dual threat qb.
December 20th, 2011 at 8:09 PM ^
Their definition of "dual-threat" must be pretty generous, because he seems much more like a pocket passer to me. I can't imagine him being the team's primary rushing threat. I could see him being more like Forcier where he picks up yards on the odd zone read keeper, but just to keep the defense honest.
December 20th, 2011 at 8:31 PM ^
he may seem more like a pocket passer to you because Michigan no longer runs a zone read offense. but the offense DG was in while a qb at Inkster was a zone read type offense which is why he commited to Michigan under RR. will DG playing in al's system make him a better all-around qb, you betcha.
