Beat me to it and we have the exact same post. TWINS!
But a well deserved award.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:40 PM ^
Ha I saw that, I thought maybe I posted it twice.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:57 PM ^
Still second team All Big Ten according to the BTN.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:40 PM ^
Awesome! I couldn't be happier for the guy. He deserves it in every way shape and form.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:41 PM ^
I feel bad for Van Bergen. He said Molk was already running around their house saying he was a better O-lineman, now it's just going to get ridiculous.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:56 PM ^
Molk doesn't seem like the type to do that. I'm pretty sure that he was joking.
December 8th, 2011 at 9:01 PM ^
Van Bergen said it in a presser. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it were true, given that RVB plays D-line, not O (which is the joke).

December 8th, 2011 at 9:13 PM ^
I'm sure Molk does it as a joke...
December 8th, 2011 at 10:17 PM ^
And now he can say he's the *best* lineman (or center, anyways). There will be no living with him!
But seriously, congrats to him, a well-deserved honor for an irreplaceable player.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:42 PM ^
WOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Maybe the freshman are safe from his headbutting for awhile.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:46 PM ^
No. He's gotta celebrate somehow.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:42 PM ^
Interesting that he wins the award for the nations top center, yet isn't even 1st team all big ten...
December 8th, 2011 at 8:45 PM ^
All-Big Ten 1st team by the coaches, 2nd team by the media. He was also the Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year.
December 8th, 2011 at 9:48 PM ^
Really! I'd like to hear the media explanation for how the Remington award winner isn't even first team all conference. Nice job, voters.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:40 PM ^
they don't understand anything if there isn't a shiny stat to go with it.
December 9th, 2011 at 12:14 AM ^
he was picked 3rd best in the B1G by the media.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:43 PM ^
what a great honor. Great for him and for the school. Unfortunately it means he's going to have to talk to the media a bit more
December 8th, 2011 at 9:18 PM ^
Unfortunately for the media, you mean, right?
December 8th, 2011 at 9:20 PM ^
Not unless Michigan has revised its policy on headbutting Rosenberg, unfortunately.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:18 PM ^
You KNOW we haven't!!!
December 8th, 2011 at 11:49 PM ^
with enjoyable press conferences following the last couple of games. Even sneaking in a smile on occasion. Hope the smile is ear to ear now. Wonderful news. Sometimes they get it right.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:43 PM ^
Well deserved, wearer of the Budweiser
December 8th, 2011 at 8:43 PM ^
what does this do for his draft stock?
December 8th, 2011 at 8:45 PM ^
Increases it, if I had to guess.
December 9th, 2011 at 1:02 AM ^
I'd guess it does nothing for it. The NFL will measure him and give him their tests and base their decision on that. The choice of the individuals who vote for the Rimington will mean the same as the votes of the idiots in the media who didn't put him on the first team All Big Ten.
December 9th, 2011 at 9:22 AM ^
You are apparently not a fan of snide sarcasm.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:44 PM ^
With all due respect to David Baas, I can't think of a guy that deserves it more.
This is great for recruiting too! CONGRATS TO MOLK AND THE TEAM!
December 8th, 2011 at 8:52 PM ^
TREMENDOUS
December 8th, 2011 at 8:44 PM ^
I finally learned what a reach block was because of you, Mr. Molk (and Brian, too!). What a pleasure it has been watching you develop over the past 4 years. I will miss your feisty demeanor and general disdain for media types.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:44 PM ^
Well deserved and seems to be a great leader on top of being a great player. Much of this year's success falls on Molk's shoulders. Congrats
December 8th, 2011 at 8:44 PM ^
you deserve it. We appreciate your hard work with everything you've had to endure during your tenure at Michigan.
Maybe someone more talented with graphics could do a photoshop/video clip of Molk and his pre-snap head bob that got so much attention after MSU game.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:44 PM ^
Whoo Hoo!!!
We are going to miss him, badly.
Football or not, he will be the CEO of something someday.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:45 PM ^
I'm glad; really glad for him. What an honor. I am so glad he is getting this kind of appreciation for all of his hard work and sacrifice. He is as great a Captain as any in my memory. His play this year was flawless. We'll miss him when he is gone.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:47 PM ^
all the Sparties at the B1G Championship showed up and booed the shit out of Molk. the selection committee just sat on their couches and watched. why is the world so unfair to Michigan State?
December 8th, 2011 at 8:48 PM ^
he is our first National Award winner since LaMarr Woodley in 2006
December 8th, 2011 at 8:50 PM ^
Great player who had to deal with loads of BS he didn't sign up for.

Glad his play is being recognized, but we should commend his leadership in holding this team together even more.

Thanks DM!
December 8th, 2011 at 8:52 PM ^
Fucking awesome! Congrats David, you earned the hell out of it!
December 8th, 2011 at 8:52 PM ^
and to a kid that sat out an entire season ... just tto rededicate himself to Michigan football. Remember when got injured he was on a team that was definitely struggling .... Congrats to Mr. Molk!
Go Blue!
December 8th, 2011 at 8:53 PM ^
At 9pm on ESPN there is a college football award show. Will this be presented on the air?
December 8th, 2011 at 8:58 PM ^
The U-M press release I cited below says no:
The official Rimington Trophy presentation will be held Jan. 14, 2012, at Rococo Theater in Lincoln, Neb.
December 8th, 2011 at 9:01 PM ^
Is that where the coach of the year award is handed out?
December 8th, 2011 at 9:09 PM ^
Espn blurb shows that tonight's show will have the Home Depot Coach of the Year award. Not sure if that's the real award or not. As it's ESPN and as Home Depot = Game Day, I'm guessing Ess EEE See coach.
ESPN site adds:
In addition to the nine player awards, the show will feature the live presentation of the NCFAA (National College Football Awards Association) Contribution to College Football Award; The Home Depot Coach of the Year Award; The Allstate AFCA Good Works Team; the Disney Spirit Award; and student-athletes selected to the Walter Camp All-America Team.
December 8th, 2011 at 9:17 PM ^
Good guess. The Home Depot Coach of the Year is not official, and it is in fact going to Les Miles (reported a few hours ago). The Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year is the real award.
December 8th, 2011 at 9:31 PM ^
There isn't one "real" award. Any organization can give out one if it wants. The Liberty Mutual one has only been around since 2006, in fact, so I don't know why you'd consider it the best.
The most prestigious coaching awards are probably the AFCA Coach of the Year and the Walter Camp Coach of the Year.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:54 PM ^
Could NOT happen to a more wonderful, terrifying person! My he bring his scowl and swagger to the NFL, that all may fear his thunderous snaps!
(P.S.- The Lions could use a talented young center, maybe???)
December 8th, 2011 at 8:54 PM ^
Congrats to Molk. Well done!
December 8th, 2011 at 8:55 PM ^
Those who stay
will win Rimingtons
December 8th, 2011 at 8:56 PM ^
Mgoblue.com press release has this quote from Molk:
"I am truly humbled to be the Rimington Trophy recipient," said Molk. "It's such an honor considering all of the great centers around the country, including the other finalists. It's an individual award, but it's a credit to our offensive line, our team and our coaching staff. I'm proud to represent the University of Michigan."
Also:
during the ESPNU Home Depot College Football Awards Show on Thursday, Molk also was named a first team All-American by the Walter Camp Foundation.
December 8th, 2011 at 9:19 PM ^
It's an individual award, but it's a credit to our offensive line, our team and our coaching staff. I'm proud to represent the University of Michigan.
I love how that's an automatic response for our (Hoke's?) players now. I would be absolutely shocked if any of our players got any sort of award or recognition and didn't thank his teammates/coaches/school.
