SIAP - Dhani Jones officially retires

I thought I've been following his post football career for about 3 years now. Whoops. That just means he's already achieved success off the football field and will continue to represent the University of MIchigan quite well.

I thought the exact same thing; 'Why is Dhani Jones retiring from television?' I had no idea the guy was still playing in the NFL. That is where he was playing, right? Not Canada or Arena football? I don't mean to knock Dhani Jones (well maybe just a little); it really is my fault. I just don't pay any attention to the NFL.

Cincinnati. Kinda like Canada.

Who Dey, eh.

He led the team in tackles last year

Apparently dressing studiously supercedes publicly calling your alma mater's head football coach "terrible" on several occassions in the university representation department.

for the love of Christ. Must there always be some bitter, cynical bastard on every thread who somehow relates the topic back to crying about poor Rich Rodriguez? Get over it already. I'm sick of this bullshit.

No, I won't let someone say that Dhani Jones "represents the university so well" when he used his public status to kick a struggling coach while he was down. It's not like my comment was totally arbitrary.

Fair enough. But the man has done more charitable work in the past year (with U of M being a large part of it) than most of our most prized former players have ever dreamed about doing. That and the man just said what many were already thinking.

Not to be rude, but shut up about it already. You are so bitter. It's these comments that detract from the good natured tone of the post. Let bygones be bygones.

Shut up, Dhani Jones saw what was going on much better than your stupid ass. As a former player, he is much more invested in Michigan football than you will ever be, so he was right to criticize the bull shit that was going on. Rich Rod was shit, I'm glad he's gone, and now we can get back to winning again. Go Blue.
October 11th, 2011 at 10:42 PM ^
he was reffering to Rich Rod.

Dhani was a bit under-rated at UM. He is one of those guys that was going to be successful outside of the NFL. Best of luck to him.

Smart dude (but not as smart as me:)
All around, great guy.

Not as smart as I

you must be smarter than I

When he got cut by the Bengals I pretty much figured it was the end for him. It'll be interesting to see how he goes from here on out, with his show and all the stuff he does

Only RC student ever to suit up for Michigan, if I'm not mistaken.
Missin u, Halfass.

Eric Riley and Rumeal Robinson were around quite a bit, as well, though I don't think they were RC majors.

But not the flashiest player, which was probably why he ws not resigned. It didn't look like he was slowing down at all after he posted 125 tackles last season, but the sack numbers had always been low. And for the record anyone who wants to bash him for hating on RR go ahead, but why don't you look in the mirror and remember how many former players did the same thing and were welcomed back with open arms. Anyone who put the uniform on is an important part of this teams history, this is michigan dammit.

He had a decent career, and I wish him well in what is now an official retirement (although I, like others, thought he had done this some time ago). At last, more time to concentrate on awesome ties....

Great player, great representative of Michigan. Another Alumn who will be added to the great names associated with the The University of Michigan.

Now he will be able to devote all of his time to his true passions: charity fundraising, community service, and ridding the world of the evils of RichRod.
