Thoughts on Michigan State and tSio game

Submitted by wresler120 on

This has basically been a snoozefest up to this point. tSio looks pathetic and Michigan State still likes to try to take themselves out of the game with foolish penalties and turnovers at the worst time. BJ Cunningham is definitely a freakish receiver ... he really uses his size well. William Gholston is playing much better this game, but acts like a fool when he makes big plays ... talking trash in opponents faces and pointing.  I wouldn't be real excited if I were rooting for either of these teams.

It seems to me like tSio is giving up on the season by giving the reigns to Braxton Miller. He shows his freshman instincts .. and is too quick to try running. His passes are off target and wobbly. Bauserman gives tSio the best opportunity to win, but apparently Fickell is willing to trade wins for the experience his young QB is getting.

After today, my expectations for us in B1G play has increased. OSU looks awful, MSU also looks pretty bad offensively, and they're defense looking this good all goes back to OSU being awful. Illinois isn't overwhelming and we can definitely beat them if we play well, and Northwestern w/out Persa is just plain bad. If Wisky can destroy Nebraksa that would make it that much better.

Looks like too little, too late for OSU. Even if they score here I don't see them getting this one back.

That being said, a sloppy, low scoring game is just about the best case scenario we can get out of a meeting between tOSU and MSU.

MSU is playing like garbage and OSU is playing like more garbage. And most people who watch college football know that OSU will be getting 4 very talented players back next week. So MSU might get the, "Well they didn't play OSU at full strength" treatment. Muahahha that sucks.

I love that Millen said this game really opened some eyes about MSU.  Because, yes, beating OSU's JV team by 10 is a sign of a great squad.

This is how Bucks' fans must have felt watching us the past three years.  That LB could only manage 10 points says a lot about them.

Sparty will be more insufferable than usual. They were able to beat OSU in Columbus, ect... If there were ever a year that Michigan has to beat MSU, it's this one.

Oh, it's already started. Select quotes from RCMB:
"Take that SOS and shove it up your ass. We won bitch AT OSU"
And my personal favorite...
"what you just saw was the Defense playing a break through game - they were dominant against a traditionally top tier B1G team... how can you not be happy with that?"

OMG...we just beat tOSU 10-7 at tShoe. Held them to just 7. Who in the B1G can possibly beat us? We should be in the top 10 now. It will be a blue wall conspiracy if we are not. I can see the headlines now: UM pastes Minny. MSU just barely squeaks by OSU. I mean c'mon they are so biased against MSU!! It just sucks!

I already posted this in another thread, but....yeahhhh....

The way he handled the Glenn Winston matter and having the bus pick up Rucker at the jail while on their way to Iowa City says it all.  He certainly learned his lessons from Tressell well.  He's the obvious choice.

Both teams were horrible. TWIS for tSIO for sure. No coach, no QB, porous O-line... Sparty looked only marginally better. The B1G is awful but that's good for us.

Taking bets on who will replace Fickell:

Fickell stays

Terry Francona

Dantonio

Michael Haywood the guy fired by Pitt after one day on the job

George Oleary - resigned as Notre Dame football coach five days after being hired, admitting he lied about his academic and athletic background.

MSU's D scares me a bit, but that's about the only thing making me nervous at this point. Really hope OSU doesn't make the jump to mildly capable on offense once those players come back from suspension.

They are good, but seriously, they played some really really crappy offenses. Coming into this game, the highest ranked O (in terms of total yards/game)they faced, besides ND was OSU with the lofty national rank of 91. Then there was CMU in the bottom 10 of the nation, and FAU dead last in the nation. I'm not sure about Youngstown because I didn't look it up. The one good O they faced, they still got smacked pretty well even though they held the yardage low. Pretty good D, but I still don't know if they truly deserve the #1 ranking.

Best possible outcome:  One team loses and looks awful, while the winner only looks mediocre.  A decent team would have beaten State soundly today.  Their ND loss was not a fluke.

Yes, I'm biased.
