6 home games in 2012!
September 27th, 2011 at 3:17 PM ^
Trying to be half full on it...
Also, has anyone heard how the Bama game tickets at Jerry World will be awarded or go on sale?
September 27th, 2011 at 3:22 PM ^
Michigan has an allotment of 24,000 tickets. Last year LSU was able to get their allotment up to 37,000 thru negotiation, but with both M and Alabama asking for something like this, this is unlikely.

I would assume distribution will depend on priority points/lottery.
September 27th, 2011 at 3:21 PM ^
Yeah, that schedule sucks. I hate that stupid Jerry-dome game. Unless we win. In which case it will be awesome.
September 27th, 2011 at 3:23 PM ^
It's one thing having only 6 home games, but being away from home against Alabama, notre dame, Nebraska, and osu is one tough slate!!!
September 27th, 2011 at 3:41 PM ^
ND and OSU and now that Nebraska is on the same cycle it is even worse. I would love to get it where ND and OSU alterante home/away every year so we can at least get one marquee home game guaranteed every year.
September 27th, 2011 at 3:43 PM ^
Drop the domers
September 27th, 2011 at 3:48 PM ^
They are a huge historically significant traditional rival who we usually beat. What's not to like?
September 27th, 2011 at 5:38 PM ^
Since we could've, maybe should've dropped a couple others, I think this is still pretty much a 50-50 rivalry. Unless Bob Davie starts running out that tunnel again, I think that's where the rivalry will stay.
September 27th, 2011 at 5:41 PM ^
Home game!
September 27th, 2011 at 6:11 PM ^
I'll take 6 out of 10 vs. major big name competiton every time. It is way better than losing 8 of 9 including 7 straight since 2002 vs. OSU wouldn't you say?
September 28th, 2011 at 9:44 AM ^
They aren't really that historic. While we may have taught them how to play, the bulk of both programs histories have involved purposefully keeping the other off the schrdule
September 27th, 2011 at 3:22 PM ^
if that @UConn game remains unaltered. even if they keep UConn, i would guess they try to move it to a bigger stadium on the east coast somewhere. uconn's holds 40,000. foxborough and the meadowlands would be the next closest real stadiums, which, YES PLZ!
September 27th, 2011 at 3:23 PM ^
No chance. ND cancelled a long series with UConn because they refused to play in Hartford, and UConn didn't want to play home games in Foxboro/Jersey.
September 27th, 2011 at 3:33 PM ^
Foxboro doesn't exist anymore, it's Gillette Stadium now.
However, I do love having relatives in Connecticut, makes going to away games much easier.
...please don't take this away from me DB
September 27th, 2011 at 3:36 PM ^
Apparently the Connecticut state gov't dumped lots of money into renovating (building?) UConn's stadium, so they've pretty much mandated that the money for UConn home games stays in state.
September 27th, 2011 at 3:25 PM ^
our last game with them was AT State College How is it we have to go there TWICE in a row?
September 27th, 2011 at 3:31 PM ^
Was same for us last time there was a series break---psu at um as last game and when series resumed
September 27th, 2011 at 3:35 PM ^
Do you really want 2014 to have games @ND, @Nebraska, @OSU, and @PSU?
September 27th, 2011 at 3:28 PM ^
2012 is brutal.
Seriously, have we ever had a schedule this daunting?
Can this board handle it?
September 27th, 2011 at 3:57 PM ^
1991 - Notre Dame and FSU both on the non-conference schedule, although both were at home.
1988 - @Notre Dame (they won the NC that year) and home against Miami, Fl.
September 27th, 2011 at 4:26 PM ^
Pre-12th game (aka the baby seal add-on, which will be U Mass in 2012), there were tougher schedules. Along with 1991, look at Michigan in 1994:
- BC (against a team that went 9-3 in previous year & 7-4-1 in 1994)
- @ ND (#3 in nation)
- Colorado (#7 in nation - the Kordell Stewart game)
- @ Iowa
- MSU
- PSU (#3 in nation)
- @ Illinois (#25 in nation)
- Wisconsin (defending Big 10 champs, would go to HoF bowl)
- @ Purdue
- Minnesota
- @ OSU (#22)
That's a tough schedule. The only breather was Purdue and Minnesota at the very end (though Iowa was mediocre at best that year).
We went 7-4 with this schedule with a talented team (e.g., Wheatley, Collins, Law, Morrison, Hamilton), so to answer your last question: I'm not sure if the board can handle a situation like that now. If we go 8-4 against the 2012 schedule, it will be a nice achievement. Hopefully, more will be possible, but it will take a lot of skill, hard work and luck.
September 27th, 2011 at 4:38 PM ^
'94 was tough. Can you imagine what the board's reaction would have been back in '94 to the Colorado game?
Someone please put Lloyd Brady in the end zone of the Hail Mary holding down our d-backs' arms.
September 27th, 2011 at 4:49 PM ^
... the immediate reaction would have been like the one in the stadium - stunned silence. I know I couldn't have approached a keyboard for at least a couple days after a loss like that.
September 27th, 2011 at 5:33 PM ^
I LOVE having a tough schedule...EVERY YEAR is fine by me..You have to beat the Best to be the Best..
September 27th, 2011 at 11:41 PM ^
Playing Alabama and then Air Force is really scary. Air Force is one that I have always liked watching, especially when they are killin ND. They are a decent team and they beat Georgia Tech in their bowl game and have only lost to TCU this year (ok not the greatest opponents other than them, but heh). With our team two years under this staff an Denard a senior, I hope they are ready for the brutal schedule in 2012.
September 27th, 2011 at 3:34 PM ^
And 5 games in November 2013. Get out your parkas!
September 27th, 2011 at 3:48 PM ^
Since one of our bye weeks precedes the State game, does that mean MSU will get two bye weeks in a row to prepare for us?
September 27th, 2011 at 3:55 PM ^
Gahhhh why that year? My Sr. year at Central, holy crap i'm going to be conflicted watching that game
September 27th, 2011 at 9:43 PM ^
Do what I do for EMU.....just hope for a good game that nobody gets hurt.
September 27th, 2011 at 4:13 PM ^
with only 6 games in 2012 whats the over/under on brandon comming up with a Super Premium cost of 100 per ticket for the night game (most likely Illinois it apears)
September 27th, 2011 at 4:13 PM ^
What the hell am I going to do with only 2 home games in the first 6 weeks of the season??
ROAD TRIP!!
September 27th, 2011 at 4:28 PM ^
What an awful year to be a possible freshman at U of M, schedule wise.
September 27th, 2011 at 4:56 PM ^
as a student ticket owner was The Horror, so let's not even go there.
September 27th, 2011 at 5:49 PM ^
Hopefully, I'll be one of those possible freshmen.
September 27th, 2011 at 4:42 PM ^
Will be Nov. 30 be the latest we've ever played OSU?
September 27th, 2011 at 4:48 PM ^
No good night games candidates on those schedules unless we do Notre Dame....again...
September 27th, 2011 at 5:37 PM ^
For 2012 we could do MSU as a night game, but they'd tear Ann Arbor apart so keep it in the afternoon.
September 27th, 2011 at 4:47 PM ^
is tough enough, especially since it will be our FIRST game and no chance to iron some of the kinks. Hopefully, there won't be too much new stuff to learn next year and the O will be "in sync".
September 27th, 2011 at 5:15 PM ^
we will be preseason top ten so we want those tough games to get us to the top quick and never look back....Denards senior season lets go back to back
September 27th, 2011 at 4:51 PM ^
So no Wisconsin for the next 4 years?
September 27th, 2011 at 5:53 PM ^
We don't need no stinking badgers!
September 27th, 2011 at 5:14 PM ^
ill allow it
September 27th, 2011 at 5:16 PM ^
Looks like a NC waiting to happen. Only games that look tough are against Nebraska and O$U...both at home.
September 27th, 2011 at 5:52 PM ^
DB needs to scheduling bye weeks before tough opponents. Not sure the extra rest and preparation time is best spent preparing for at trip to West Lafayette in 2012 and for Minny at home in 2013!
September 27th, 2011 at 6:01 PM ^
I have a feeling Michigan gets a big time PAC-12 opponent for a game in 2014.
September 27th, 2011 at 6:07 PM ^
I have to play the wife twice in 2013. I can start penciling 0-2 into that year now...
September 27th, 2011 at 6:35 PM ^
...Yea i'm going to be that guy
September 27th, 2011 at 6:58 PM ^
I think that 2013 schedule is very favorable competition wise as it is this year, Especially in the beginning of the season, which is perfect time to get the 5 star lefty some time to prove himself and get some PT
September 27th, 2011 at 9:20 PM ^
Michigan Stadium goes 4 weeks in 2012, then 3 weeks in 2013 without a game in late September/early October. Whats up with that, are they clearing out the great weather weekends for weddings?
