OT: Lions sign Tulloch
This is a huge signing for the Lions, hopefully Stafford can stay healthy and they should be able to fight for a playoff spot. All they need is to resign Houston or get another decent corner and I will be happy with the makeup of this team for now.

Gym Shorts is trying to get his entire Titans team over here. I am amazed he didnt go for Vince Young.
He's gotten two players to come now. Both of whom are pro bowl talents, who most teams would take. If he wants to add Cortland Finnegan soon, all the better.
Finnegan is a goon. while he may be talented he's also a head case. I hope to never see him in a lions uniform.
I agree about the talented part, but I think he is a "get-in-your-head" case. Sorry, but I love ballers with attitudes who like to hit. Go get em lions.
I welcome your opinion and I guess if we never play Andre Johnson we wouldn't have to worry too much if he was a Lion.
He would make a better backup than what they have right now. Until Stafford proves he is capable of staying healthy for an entire year, backup QB is even more important in Detroit than it is on other teams. You have to have a good one in this era.
Shaun Hill is a pretty solid backup and there is no way VY is going to a team where he doesn't at least have a chance to start.
That Shaun Hill is solid, but there's not even a remote chance that VY or anyone expects him to start over Vick.
Good call. I forgot that he went to Philly. Not sure why he went there. You would think there were teams he could have went to where starting was at least a possibility.
I would think it was because of the contract they offered him. $5.5 million for one year seems like a pretty good deal for a backup quarterback (I don't think anyone wanted him for a starting position anyways). Plus, he may get to see the field if Vick doesn't hold up all season long.
The way that D played for him I will gladly take that in detroit. Nothing wrong with having a consistent top 10 defense.
I like this!
This is a great, great move to solidify the front 7. If they can keep Stafford on his feet they might have a shot at the playoffs this year.
He's young, has been very durable and racks up the tackles. I'll take it.
especially with the reports that we were out of it for him. Behind that defensive line he should be very productive.
We have a team now. All we need now is some pieces in the secondary and Oline and we'll be contenders in a few short years.
Levy said he'd move outside to help the team so I'm assuming the LB's will be Durant, Tulloch, and Levy.

Levy played outside linebacker in college, i believe, so it should be his natural position
I'm excited to have him, but I just read we signed him to a 1 year deal for $3 million. Not the length of contract I expected, especially for someone in their prime
If I were signing with the Lions, I'd sign a one year just to make sure the team had turned the corner, and if the team played well I'd sign a whopper and win a Superbowl. That's probably what Tulloch is doing.
But if he were to get hurt or have a bad year, there's no long term money for him. Just an interesting contract to me
It's definitely an interesting contract. But a long term contract with the Lions could equal a tar pit. He might be Bill Murray baby steppin it just in case.
He signed a short term deal because he couldn't get a lucrative long term contract. He's hoping to land a bigger deal next year.
Based on comments from Schefter and John Clayton, it seemed that no team was willing to give him a long-term deal as teams have been weary about investing a lot in linebackers this year. It sounds like the one-year deal was pushed for by the Lions and not Tulloch.
he will get a long term deal. The Lions will franchise him if it comes to that. They won't let him get away. Now they can concentrate on Corner and Offensive Tackle. With Backus dealing with a minor injury, and Gosder Cherilus coming off of microfracture surgery... I think they could use a little more depth.
i think CB has been taken care of, both leggett and wright have the talent to be starting CBs, resign houston and rotate the 3 of them and its a pretty good secondary
I wasted a lot of good anger on the Lions draft because they didn't use their picks on LB or CB. Mayhew looking genius so far.
If everything clicks with this team this year I can see 10+ wins as a good possibility. If we can keep Stafford healthy I think it will be between us and GB for the division. I don't see the Vikings doing much this year and the Bears seem to be doing their best to trade away their team. Prediction: 10-6 with a Wild Card playoff birth
Hmmm, I wanted Barnett but I didn't think Tulloch would be that easy of a sign. Wish it was for longer than a year but a starting three at linebacker of Levy, Tulloch, and Durant sounds actually pretty damn good. Not much depth yet, but this is probably easily the best front seven in the division now.
Now we need to get Cliff Avril taken care of.
This is not surprising at all. I live in Nashville and had a feeling when Schwartz went to Detroit that some of the guys on D would follow him there. So far that has been the case. Good pick up for the Lions.
Good signing. Covers a need and now we can focus on depth and corners. Tulloch is younger than Barnett, plus Tulloch still has lots of tread on his tires. He's only started full time since 2008, whereas Barnett has done it 4+ years longer...

<br>Need Avril soon...
I'm gonna try not to get caught in too much hyperbole, but is it fair to say the addition of 2 rock solid linebackers along with Levy gives the Lions one of the best front 7s in the whole league?
According to Schefter, the Lions re-signed Chris Houston to a 2-year deal.
That's terrific. I haven't been this excited for football to start in quite awhile.
Vanden bosh for this pick up. The Lions are now legitimate playoff contenders and it just illuminates how pathetic Matt Millen really was. Night and day difference in this franchise in only a few seasons.
