Rivals.com: 2012 Preseason Rankings for Ohio
http://rivals.yahoo.com/footballrecruiting/football/recruiting/rankings…
Glad that mgoblog is back and running. I actually got some work done today. Anyways Rivals released their rankings for the state of Ohio.
Obviously #1 is Kyle Kalis
Michigan commits:
#11 Joe Bolden
#14 Tom Strobel
#16 Jarrod Wilson
#17 Pharaoh Brown
#22 Caleb Stacey
#25 Kaleb Ringer
#28 AJ Williams
#29 Allen Gant
---------------
Michigan Prospects:
#5 Adolphus Washington
#7 Dwayne Stanford
#8 Brionte Dunn
#21 Chris Wormley
#39 Alden Hill
Though, oddly enough, OSU didn't get a lot of the top 2010 instate crop, either. #5 and #7 not until the #19th rated player (Baldwin). So 2 in top 18 in a pretty stacked class.
could end up with only 1 top 10 kid from Ohio despite the pending Biblical Proportions and all. Someone could clean up here.
the pending Biblical Proportions and all. Columbus is in meltdown mode and our Ohio recruiting isn't really out of the norm. Strange that this is what people are calling the best defensive class in a long time and TSIO will miss out on it, and we're rebuilding our defense but someone else could get kids 2-10 instead of us. That said I couldn't be happier with our class this year.
I think the top 10 and the schools involved will be an interesting list. There could possibly be 6 different schools in the top 10 when it is all said and done.
Very confident there will be
I guessing you are talking about Ifeadi and ND's chances with him.
Mostly Mahone for now, if its not ND it won't be any of the other teams in the top 10 either
I didn't even know that Mahone was considering ND all that much. I guess it is a ND/PSU battle for him now.
I know we'd all love to grab Dunn, but I still kind of wish we had an offer out to William. Seems to be a player and would suit our system. The coaches obvisouly see something I don't.
I was a little surpised at how low some of our commits were ranked. I guess I figured we'd have 2-3 in the top 10, but Ohio does have plenty of talent. Whatever moron said that the state is thin this year deserves to be roundhouse kicked in the dome.
Seriously. I'm seriously stumped why we didn't go after him hard from the start.
IIRC, we went after him as a LB, which I thought was really strange.
He is blue if we offer.
I might be reading this wrong, but I highly doubt Mahone will be an easy get. He's one of the top RB's in OH, and has a ton of offers. Not sure if I'm missing something, but what makes you say that..?
Its just a gut feeling I have. I would love to at least give him an offer. Wonderful talent and a good defensive player as well

safety
I agree. Mahone is a decent sized kid at 6' 200. and he just seems to make plays.
Anybody known when chris wormley is going to announce???
Sometime in August, if I remember correctly?
Before the beginning of the season.
I'll take 5 of the top 20 in Ohio anyday of the week. Not to mention these are all kids in major positions of need.
If Coach Hoke can win and really open some eyes I truly believe he can start to really walk into Ohio and take 2 or 3 of the top 10 every year.
Of all the years to be a team that recruits nationally...
Hey now you gotta show some respect, they picked up a Florida kid yesterday!!
Funniest thing about it in my mind, is that this guy that they're so excited about (Kings) is the #121 WR in the country according to ESPN, and our lowest-ranked recruit (Gant) is ranked as the #115 WR, while we're not even having him play WR.
I know ESPN's evaluations are crap, as evidenced by the fact they have Gant as a WR, but I still thought that was pretty funny
I was surprised to see Mahone rated so high. I guess I feel for all the buckeyes saying that Ball would be the best back in the state for 2012.
This recruiting stuff is getting out of hand. I was watching Bernanke's testimony on C-SPAN 3 Tuesday (oops edit: Wednesday). When Jim Renacci of Ohio's 16th came up, all I could think of Massilon and Canton-McKinley, good sports schools. Huh, Wayne Country. Is that where Huber is?
I have no idea what you are talking about. What does Jim Renacci have to do with recruiting?
ESPN said today on college football live that we had 3 out of the top 10 in Ohio and the Wormley would be the 4th if he committed.
<br>
ESPN's very warped version of Ohio's top recruits - Notice how Kalis is #5 (WTF?!) and William Mahone is #17 (Double WTF?!), putting Dunn as the top RB in OH
http://espn.go.com/college-football/recruiting/prospects?class=2012&pos…
I think Kalis is the double WTF, because I don't think Mahone at 17 is that crazy, that's closer to where a lot of people thought he'd be since the two RBs OSU went after right away were Ball and Dunn.
