08/14/2011 - 7:34pm You know you all should feel extremely lucky

at least you guys are able to meet and greet two possible nfl players. Not to mention two great young men who i would not blink an eye to get up at 530 in the morning to meet. It just so happens that the fan day in my town is a bit lower scale. Yeah North Dakota State lol and while i am a fan of the ndsu it is olny because they tend to be the underdog all the time. And i live 5 blocks from campus and the fargodome. I would give anything to be there i plan on coming for the sdsu game but that is my highlight of the year. As i love all things maize and blue to the point when they lose on a saturday my week is usually ruined. I envy all of you but i made the boneheaded decision to move here for economy and job, while it was not a bad move i do miss occasions such as these. I know i probably repeated myself a lot but i cant help but cringe on this thread.

08/14/2011 - 7:03pm I damn near fell out of my chair at that

is he a real person lol. Omg you would think with his flambouyant name that they made it up to scare people. Fitzgerald Touissant i think i spelled it right. The really funny thing is people turn a blind eye to the our running backs slaughtering garbage teams. In fact if you look close the bowling green game where he got caught from behind. Nobody had any big runs at least aside from denard. So could he be the real deal absolutley he could be the real deal. I think cox or shaw will be the feature guy and smith or the guy we have olny seen run twice will be the third down guy. Smith has very little breakaway speed so hell why not let fitz get a shot.

08/13/2011 - 9:05pm he should call him out

i guess i am not to worried about the integrity of the irish but what about the young man. I mean what kind of message is kelly sending out oh you know what its ok to break the law dont worry son we got a football season ahead of us lets go out and win at all costs. I guess after we whoop them this year it will make it that much sweeter and it will highlight the decision that hoke made as being the right one.

08/13/2011 - 8:42pm Chief we are

Wes brown he is a top tier back. He is highly rated and has kinda gotten some rave reviews this past summer at the camps he has been at i think we sit well for dunn but do not for a second think he will be the olny top guy on our radar.

08/13/2011 - 8:37pm I guess that is not good

but as you and i have seen hoke can work wonders when we get guys on campus. I am not saying we are going to land him but being in the top 2 is better than not. And also miami has duke johnson already in this class so it is not as far a shot as i think your stating nor as good a thing as i am.

08/13/2011 - 8:30pm I respect Howard he tells it just like it flies inbetween his

ears. I also repsect that he bleeds maize and blue like the poster said above me. The guy has a true heart for michigan football. And lets top it off by saying what he said about floyd and kelly could not be farther from the truth. I think it seconds the notion that Hoke is really sending a message to play at michigan is a privilege and should be treated like that. I think the thing i like best about Howard is just what the article illustrates that he is not going to tell you what you want to hear even as a sports analyst. This makes me proud to be a fan of all things maize and blue.

08/13/2011 - 8:22pm A bit off topic but i read on

michigan football recruiting benjis site, WES BROWN has us in his top two. Now at 6 foot and 200 lbs i would surely not mind that kind of back. Not to mention he is teammates of stefon diggs and also we snagged countess from there last year. If you pay attention to just stars you want keith marshal if you pay attention to what has been seen at camps brown has killed it. I know i will see link link link but i am on my phone and no it is not a smartphone. Go to the link michigan football recruiting browse the comments. If you want further proof go to browns rivals profile.

08/12/2011 - 10:21am Correct me if i am wrong

but in high school he is used as a wideout. Now if you have a chance compare funchess to junior hemingway given that funchess will get bigger and he is much taller than hemingway. Now i am not saying he would beat burbridge in a foot race i might put my money on funchess on a post corner route. In college height can sometimes be such a mismatch that speed has little to do with it. Mike williams at usc was tall not very fast but killed in college. I will still put money on him being out wide.

08/12/2011 - 9:35am Funny enough

devin funchess stats rival those of burbridge. I know he is being recruited as a tight end but i think he will end up splittin out wide. He is very talented and is a jump ball kind of a reciever we are going to need in the coming years. Secondly our instate linebackers are going to be studs. I think out of our instate guys these three are going to be our best. Wuh wait i take that back ben braden throw him near the top he is way under the radar.

08/11/2011 - 6:48am I think it is all speculation at this point.

If danny obrien comes calling i think we open the door for him. I dont question that at all but he has slow played us which leads me to believe we may be out of the picture.

08/11/2011 - 6:26am I would second that

If you make it on this list you are pretty darn good. I think this kid could probably put on 25 pounds easily. With that kind of gain i think we are looking at one hell of a tackle. I wont put him in the long category but i do believe he could possibly be our best oline recruit. I am sure that could be countered pretty easily with kalis and braden but god they all have bright futures i hate even trying to say one will be better than the other.

08/11/2011 - 6:17am Couldnt have said it better.

I have never disliked rich rod but he was a horrible at picking the starting tailbacks. He wanted vincent smith to be like steve slaton or noel devine. Guess what it hasnt worked out very well. The guy does not have homerun speed. Period he has been caught from behind several times. And that is without knee braces lol. Magnus i am liking you more and more to bad i live a thousand miles away otherwise sharing a beer and some michigan football talk would be right up my alley. I can say this I SURE HOPE WE CAN LAND BRIONTE DUNN HE IS THE ANSWER TO OUR 2014 RB QUESTION.

08/11/2011 - 6:01am I could not have said it better magnus. I have read some

Of the stuff on touch the banner on cox. I could not agree more i think more of the problem why cox has not started is that rich rod did not recruit him. Second point i think sure there may have been problems in the past with the playbook but i really find it hard to believe seeing what i have saw from cox that he has not seen the field more. I am of the opinion that we can not keep trying to jam square pegs in round holes it wont work. I have watched michigan football religously since 1988 and seen alot of great to good running backs. I have to say i think cox fits the mold of the michigan back of old. I think what we saw in the spring from him is just the tip of the iceberg of what he is capable of. The dude flat ran over brandon herron for a 60 yard touchdown. He will start, thomas rawls will not start nor will he see more than 50 carries the whole year.

08/10/2011 - 9:11pm I wonder if this board is blind sometimes.

vincent smith and mike shaw have had more than enough chance to prove that they are the guy. The fact that we are even talking about who the guy is after all the playing time they have got means they will not win the job. It will be Cox thats right you heard it here. Spring 2010 there was a player that tore it up weirdly enough he broke many records and he is our starting quarterback. Cox will be the guy you can count on it and i dont care if i get downvoted i am tired of seeing the blindness around here lately.

08/10/2011 - 8:54pm Why is everyone on rawls jock so hard

He is a freshman and unproven i would love to see him break out but what are the chances. Was i the olny one that saw cox break a few pretty nice runs in the spring? And he had the extra speed to take it all the way on the one run. I think it was like 62 yards!!?

08/04/2011 - 6:13pm Sorry

I dont think ND nor PSU deserves to be here. I think they are there more for their name than anything. I think we are right were we deserve to be. I  also think we will be turning a few heads this fall when it is all said and done. Why do people keep down voting me it is really stupid. People have there right to there opinion i mean unless it is absolutley off the wall let it be. People have been real picky on here lately. And to me this is the best site on the web. Especially being that i now live in fargo north dakota. I no longer live in south redford and dont have access to the media that everyone else has. It would be nice to be able to share an opinion once in a while. I listen to everyone elses two cents. I am excited for this season this much is true.

07/30/2011 - 8:38pm Please help

it is saturday in fargo north dakota and frankly really boring. I have been wondering lately about the possible commits that may come this weekend with the BBQ. Please could someone start a thread of what is everybodys wishlist of commits that could possibly come this weekend. I mean come on a little fantasy wont hurt anyone and i would be hugely grateful to read what others hopeful commits would be so please and thank you. And sorry for posting off topic and sorry about the format i am on my phone.

07/28/2011 - 7:45pm Yeah

gottta love tom and his cryptic comments. Everytime he says something like this it is good. The last time was the weekend kalis visited. I dont want to jinx it but tom you are always full of great information and good luck so lets keep that rollin.

07/27/2011 - 6:25pm Yeah sparty is really low cause

there depth chart has taken a big hit. A big part of there success was there front 7 and there are a few of them gone.

07/27/2011 - 6:17pm I totally agree with you waggles

were are in on a pretty talented group of WRS. My hope is that we land this kid he is big and that is the kind of reciever of old for michigan. In fact if i had my choice right now it would be Amara, Darius Powe i cant copy and paste cause i am on my phone but i read something on espn about the standouts at the GKS and according to tom luginbill Powe killed it. He said something to the fact of Powe being a physical reciever but also having more than enough ability to blow by just about any defensive back. Amara at 6'2 and Darius at 6'3 would be some great outside recievers. Than you add the slot guys we already are loaded on. Thanks tom for your post i was really anxious to here how this visit went.

07/26/2011 - 3:43pm Really

we need at least two WRS in this class with the talent that is out there like someone else said you cant just ignore any position for concerns of depth. Carr frequently played 5 WRS in a game manningham breaston avant mathews savoy i could go on and on. Yes stacking the Dline is important but we have got to be able to punch people in the mouth on offense and not just count on winning all of our games on defense.

07/25/2011 - 11:06pm This hurts i find it funny that nobody is saying a word

About our commitment. The kid looks good looks to have some talent. The best part about him is he looks and sounds like a hard worker and plays to the whistle which is very important very important. Welcome to the maize and blue we are really happy to have ya. Now this stuff with jones, pace, teric we need to look at this as a positive thing. I think it adds more scholarships to a class that is building nicely. I mean this haul of a class could be so huge i know it is not going to make a huge difference in 2012, 2013 2014 look out we are going to have a solid team. Especially solid defense. RR had such bad luck in his recruiting it is unbelievable how many of his guys did not pan out in some sort of way. The biggest one of them all demar dorsey that dude was a balla. He could run like denard but he would lay the wood too. I said when we got him that he looked like an Eric Berry type safety. Woops couldnt qualify it is a shame. I believe in what hoke is doing i think if he and matty think this Souma kid is the deal he is the deal.

07/22/2011 - 11:16pm A beast

This dude is going to bring back the nasty, off the edge pash rusher we need. I see him playing early. I find it hard to believe he will not be starting in 2012. This season i think if he does not redshirt he sees the field in some capacity for sure. I love this kid top of that class one of them at least.

07/21/2011 - 8:29pm Yeah i agree

Is devin gardner going to be startin in 2013? Sometimes i get lost in the shuffle of Mich football talk, and forget we do have a stable of WRS. Good points wolvinla. Oh one thing people forget madaris won the OFFENSIVE MVP award at the FSU camp kid is a balla anybody who thinks he is slow is crazy. He flew under the radar for a while but his offer sheet is impressive. I believe NEB FSU USC MSU AMONGST ALOT OF OTHERS.

07/21/2011 - 8:28pm Yeah i agree

07/21/2011 - 8:22pm I hope your right

Will devin gardner be slingin the rock in 2013? Is that what you are gettin at? I just think there could be a possibility as much work as that kid morris is puttin in he could jump to bein the starter although i hope they give him a year. I guess my hope is that they land one guy at the very least wolvinla a guy that can be a threat everytime the ball is in the air. I think burbridge is that guy. I also think madaris is the guy. People are forgetting madaris went to the FSU camp and won the offensive MVP award. The kid can ball he may be flyin under the radar but if you look at his offer sheet it speaks for itself. Good points though wolvinla i sometimes get lost in the shuffle of Michigan talk and forget our past head coach loved recruiting WRS for that spread of his.

07/21/2011 - 7:55pm I think WR is more important than we talk about.

We need to grab two recievers in my opinion. If anybody remembers Hennes first year, having some talented recievers made things easier for him. Now if we flash forward to shane morris it would be nice to have a stable of guys that can stretch the field right away. Burbridge is definetly one of them. The kid is fast, decent sized, and he can really go up and get the ball. I think if we add madaris to that we are in buisness.

07/21/2011 - 7:38pm i disagree

the drop off from van bergen is not that significant. We have ends on the roster right now that i believe given the time of this season will produce more than RVB ever did. And i am sorry the loss of woolfolk in my mind by that time will be more of a blessing than anything. I think people forget we recruited a guy named blake countess who i expect to be a very good corner better than woolfolk. And by 2012 without even putting any of the haul of linebackers we got for the class of 2012 on the field our backers will be better. Poole, ryan, gordon, lets not forget about kellen jones he will have a year in the system. Our defense in 2012 will be a top 30 defense and our offense should be really good. I am not saying the schedule is not tough but i think we will have an excellent team. A football team that feed the rock with rawls and cox and a defense that can flat stop people. And 2013 there is no telling how good we could be. This year may have some bumps in the road but it will be an 8 win season. GO BLUE

07/19/2011 - 8:40pm Dennis you can count on not losing to sparty.

We will double improve this year on D. I say that because i think our past defenses are grossly underdevoloped. I think matty will be able to work out the kinks that the other coaches failed to pay attention to. I look for big will campbell cam gordon and josh furman to play big roles one way or another. And i look for mike cox to emerge as our back and to rush for over a 1000 yards and 10 tdz. You can call me crazy but we got worry about nebraska ohio and notre dame past that we could really end up with 9 wins. I am just jacked about our new coaching staff. I think rodriguez did a poor job devolping our defensive players.

07/19/2011 - 5:50pm true grit i must agree about obrien.

If in fact we are taking two dlineman i want him as one of them. He had the best showing of all our dlineman at the opening by far. He just seems to have the pedigree that i believe hoke and company could turn into something really special. Also i think Wr is much more of an important spot than alot of people are talking about. I really hope we pick two and i hope that one of them is madaris as he would be yet another ohio kid and the third or fourth out of the cincinatti area. Thank you tom for the great info.

07/16/2011 - 4:54pm spreadguru

you are a complete asshole

07/16/2011 - 4:53pm spreadguru

you are a complete asshole

07/15/2011 - 7:17pm In my opinion

This could have potentially been a big deal. All it takes is for a nick saban or lane kiffin to get into a recruits head and make him think otherwise of Michigan. I am very excited to see that Royce is not taking visits it will be fun to watch the #1 player in michigan knock heads off in a few years.

07/15/2011 - 5:35pm I can promise you guys something

If Moorhead state gets a hockey program going they are smack dab in the center of one of the richest areas for hockey talent. They are in northwestcentral minnesota if that makes any sense. I can tell you this because i live in fargo northdakota which is like ypsilanti to ann arbor they are right next to each other on the border of minnesota and north dakota. Fargo has a junior hockey team in town not to mention the talent in minnesota. I know people probably think they will be a pushover and they may be for a while but count on in 10 years them having a solid hockey team. That is one thing i definetly miss about living in Redford michigan every friday night i could make a drive to farmington hills or brother rice or walled lake western or westland these programs are decent high school football programs. Were as FargoMoorhead the talent here for football is really reallyy low the most talented football player they have had is a kid named Tyler Roehl Who i dont know if anybody ever caught the game of NDSU playing Minnesota Well Roel rushed for like 270 yards of something he is a fullback in the nfl now with Seatlle. I remeber being able to watch some really talented kids in michigan. There was one kid who i think if he would have been playing now would have made it big Frank Stanford played at walled lake western in 96.

07/15/2011 - 4:46am Yeah jt

I will second what you said it is time to get back to the 90s and early 2000s and start pickin the cherries out of ohio. Lets not forget ohio is one of the best states for crops of talent for high school football year in and year out. Some of our best players in the history of wolverine football have came from ohio. Howard, Manningham, Woodson just to name a few and that is defenetly not in any order.

07/15/2011 - 2:53am Depends which top 10 u are

Depends which top 10 u are goin off of.

07/15/2011 - 2:53am Depends which top 10 u are

Depends which top 10 u are goin off of.

07/15/2011 - 2:49am Yeah wheaties

But all that is next to those kids is a number so many of them are toss ups. I can say watching highlight tape on our commits there has not been one i am not impressed with. I say that cause i can remember watchin Tony Posadas highlight tape last year and wonderin really?? With that said it is very possible we round this class out with 3 in the top ten and 10 in the top 25.

07/15/2011 - 2:38am Word WLUBD

I love to see that we are beatin the tar out of TSIO in recruiting in there own backyard. It really is lovely. I think it funny how they think it is a one year deal like we are going to be successful this year in recruiting in ohio and thats it. Really that is funny we happen to have Greg Mattison on our squad who many have said is the flat out best recruiter in the country period. Now you add hoke and funk and borges you can forget about it. Recruiting is about momentum and we got the momentum now. I could see whats going on in ohio go on for a long long time. I am not sayin we are going to grab the top player every year i just think we will grab 8 9 10 football players out of ohio every year. TSIO just cause your team is about to get grounded like a 16 year girl losin her virginity is going to change the fact that when you guys are in the clear again we will be leaps and bounds ahead of u. Just sayin i get a little excited when i talk aboutTSIO.

07/14/2011 - 9:08pm This is easy

I kept trying to get on mgoblog and it kept telling me i had to wait. I felt like pullin out my hair over it. This blog has kept me sane over the last about month. The funny thing is i stumbled on it and to me it is the best michigan sports site on the net. I get more information here that is legit than i did being a member of gobluewolverine last season which cost me roughly 9 bucks a month. I hate saying this but i really bought in to Tom Beaver and that was a big mistake.

07/14/2011 - 9:04pm This is ridicoulous!!

I agree he is an awesome unbiased writer and imo there are very few of them in college football period. Craig James is a whiny little baby. I read the meat market book it is the best sports book i have ever read. I got interested in it around the time i started gettin interested in recruiting. It is very very informational and gritty and honest.

07/14/2011 - 8:13pm Troublet1969 I agree with you totally on this one!

I know this a topic about who i want to have as my breakout player of the year and that is easy. Will Campbell if Will performs up to potential our defense will be two times better. It will allow defensive backs to make mistakes for gods sakes, linebackers to blitz, free up Van Bergen and Roh on the edge to do some really silly things. And not to mention it will quiet the hype that Will is a bust. I do not think he is a bust i think as it was stated earlier he was not coached nor devoloped properly. I also think there has been way to much focus on the offense when Rich Rod was here. Now my off topic pick of who i think for sure the breakout player will be that is non other than Mike Cox he is a good running back. He showed that in the spring. He showed he has enough speed to take it to the house. He showed that if you miss him he will make you pay. Reminds me of TSIO's Chris Wells a bit. I do not have a pc at home so i am stuck posting and reading my favorite blog favorite site period mgoblog from my phone that is not a droid or smartphone so i am lovin being at a coffee shop this afternoon in downtown Fargo North Dakota. I will say i wish i was in downtown Ann Arbor Michigan. This is by far the best informational site for a michigan football junky like myself thanks to all of you for putting up with me and providing me entertainment and what sometimes is a dark hour for me lately.

07/11/2011 - 6:16pm Matter of opinion but

Our last two commits are the biggest yet. 1. Taking a cheateye commit. 2. Landing the best safety in ohio. To me wilsons commitment is the biggest one yet because for the simple fact he is a purebred safety. In the film i have seen he is one of the best ball hawking safetys in the country. He is the kind of guy that you can stack the box and feel comfortable with him roaming out in the deep end. With that said i still do not think i have screamed as loud as i did when i logged on sunday afternoon to see that Kyle had commited.

07/11/2011 - 4:58pm Kids are not stupid.

What these top ohio kids are seeing is something great taking shape. Its kinda when you watch a plant grow and you say to yourself that is going to be beautiful. Well these kids are saying the same thing. I have to say the way that kyle has handled this situation contrary to the cheateye belief is he handled his situation excellently. We are so happy to have ya kyle. I have to say watching michigan football the last few years was trying times. I am excited as a diehard fan to see this team the next five or so years.

07/11/2011 - 4:44pm correct me if im wrong

Notre dame is not in our conference correct.
