Update on Matt Godin (via his brother)
This is an update from Matt Godin's brother (user tigers06), who doesn't have enough points to start a thread. So I figured I'd point it out for those who don't see it:
Just got off the phone with my dad, who is at EMU today with Matthew for a track meet. Tom Lemming is in Ann Arbor this weekend, and he made it out to EMU to meet my brother. Lemming told Matthew that he'll be recommending him for both the Army and UA All-American games. My dad also told me that he and Matthew are probably heading over to Ann Arbor after the track meet to visit with the coaches.
Exciting news for him and his family.
Holy shit, Tom Lemming is a creepy-looking dude:

Also, it appears Wheatley sees him as a RB at 'cuse:

Coaches don't only recruit their position; they also recruit states/regions. It would make sense for Wheatley to recruit the state of Michigan.
Yeah, I was joking.
If we're more successful stopping the run it will help our pass d as well.
well it looks like toms got some competition in terms of breaking news...at least for one recruit
I miss the days where we could pos bang someone like Matt Godin's brother. Although... would that be a recruiting violation?
That sounds sooooo wrong.
.....is it a violation of local ordnances to pos bang someone like that?
Yeah, Wheatley was at the school I work at in Saginaw talking to a kid who was a HS RB but likely projects as a LB in college, though I don't think the kid ever got an offer.
Thats excellent news for Matt!! Hopefully hes accepted to both contests and can display his talents on a national stage as a.....Michigan commit!! GO BLUE!!!
He can only attend one or the other, but it would be great to see him in one of those games.
Thanks for the correction! For some reason I didn't know that, but it makes sense I guess...

That is now fixed. Thread away, Brother of Godin.
...wait, MGoPoints aren't a recruiting violation are they?
Can you cash them in for tattoos?
Magnus, thanks for posting. Misopogon, thanks for the points! Much appreciated.
Possible commitment today when he gets in AA? Probably not but I can hope.
Sounds pretty good. Godin would be a very welcome adition to this young class. And welcome to Matt's brother on the boards!
...?
Most likely a 3 technique.
Mattison told him he'd play the 5-technique DT. They want him to play around 290-295 lbs.
A 5? That is impressive. He must have hella quick feet. He has the attributes to play a 3 as well (from what I've seen).
I think the 5 tech is a Strong DE lined up outside of the offensive tackle - resdident X & O experts correct me if wrong.
That tells me there will be multiple fronts and he will be moving and stemming from 3-5 techs.
He can still be a DT in a 5 if they move up a OLB on a double tight formation. It just kicks him out a bit. So, that DE on that side may drop into coverage on a zone blitz or he could just simply be a big DE (Godin that is).
Backslash hit the nail on the head. Based on what Matthew and my dad told me after they met with Mattison, they will be playing with multiple fronts. Mattison said they'll be moving the OLB up to double tight formation quite a bit. Therefore, Matthew, while listed as a DT, would usually play in the 5 spot. It sounds as if that OLB is going to be blitzing a lot. The true DE will be on the other side of the line. By the way, it was during this same meeting that Mattison told my brother that he will take it is as "a personal insult" if anybody tries to run the ball on Michigan.
I love that "a personal insult." Thanks for the info and we all can't wait to cheer for your brother if/when he commits.

It has been a long time since we had a DC take things personally. Cant wait for fall.
Awesome and thanks for the info.
First of all I have to say it's really cool to have a recruits brother keeping us updated on things. That being said, and if he doesn't want anyone to know feel free to simply not reply. But im sure a lot of us are wondering, does Matthew have a timeline for his announcement or is he just rolling with things for now?
Has his nose on the QBs numbers.
Welcome, tiger06
He wants to make a decision before the football season starts. His goal is to help CC win a state championship, and he doesn't want any distractions during the season.
