Maybe with Warde, who we…

Maybe with Warde, who we want fired. Tony Petitti is on my list for life.

Based on the offenses we've…

Based on the offenses we've run the last 10 years, if I was a top WR who lived on the west coast...I too would probably favor Oregon over Michigan.

Keith Jackson passed away on…

Keith Jackson passed away on Jan 12th...FIVE YEARS AGO.....in 2018.

The Holiday Inn close to…

The Holiday Inn close to Jackson/Zeeb is like $130/night, you could probably catch an Ann Arbor bus within walking distance (at the Meijer on Zeeb).

I always had my eye on…

I always had my eye on Wyandotte

Traverse City area.

Traverse City area.

I feel like something is…

I feel like something is missing in the Houghton Lake area -- like, "Cheap Vacationing Detroiters"

YTTV has gotten expensive,…

YTTV has gotten expensive, but it's still way cheaper than going through most of the cable subscriptions (it's also a better product IMO).

I pay comcast about $110/month for internet + no data cap. And YTTV is $72/month. Combined for $182/month. It's about to decrease for me because I'm getting ATT fiber (which just became an option for me) and that drops the internet costs $40/month. 5 years ago when I made the switch, I was paying comcast something like $280/month for functionally the same thing.

I think people are just far…

I think people are just far more careful about what movies they see in theaters. Gone are the days where you had to wait a year to catch a newly released movie at Blockbuster. Movies are being released in theaters and then showing up on streaming platforms within a couple months. How long until this new Indiana Jones movies hits Disney+?

Not to mention, it costs $100+ to take a family of four to a movie now days. $12 a ticket + snacks.

I like going to the movies still, so we try and do it fairly regularly. But I can see why a lot of people have stopped. To cross over with sports, it's the same problem stadiums are having with selling tickets -- people can watch it in 4K in the comfort of their home.

So I don't think the kind of movie is changing people's spending habits, I think it's other factors. I think a lot of these movies will be consumed in mass once they hit the streaming services.

FSD used to be included on…

FSD used to be included on YouTubeTV, Hulu and a few other streaming services. When they changed hands they had this genius idea to price those packages out in favor of starting up their own. I think that's what did them in. Instead of it being part of the paid packages on existing platforms, they lost like half of their customers in a single decision and probably very few switched over to their subscription service.

YouTubeTV is like $70/month in total. There's no way someone can legitimately argue that streaming Tigers, Pistons and Red Wings games (or the local equivalent elsewhere) is worth 28% of the price and equivalent content to an entire TV package.

making the cost go up? Bally…

making the cost go up? Bally is charging $20/month to stream Tigers games. Compared to almost any other streaming service, it's priced outrageously.

Hulu and YouTubeTV are…

Hulu and YouTubeTV are functionally the same price at this point. It's $70/month and YouTube is $73. In order to get all the sports channels with sling, you have to get both of their tiers for $55/month.

They're all basically turning into cable companies at this point, expanding "included" channels (IE ones you can't opt out of) and rising the cost of the subscription because of it.

The irony of it all is that it might actually be cheaper to go back to cable if all you want it sports channels.

My goodness. If this does…

My goodness. If this does happen the Lions should JUMP at any of these guys for backups. Especially Lance, who we have no idea if he's going to pan out or not. That would be so dumb for them to get rid of a high draft pick like that after 1 season that ended quickly in injury.

I was trying to make sense…

I was trying to make sense of the nonsense you posted in your original reply. It makes even less sense after your explanation, thinking your seemingly harsh response was you thinking something my comment was not. And clearly you do, but in the weirdest ways. I clearly visit the site. My comment was not a hostile one. I miss the app. The site was more accessible on the app. Period. And it was an official app, see Seth’s comment. There was an unofficial app that sucked, that gained more popularity when they shut the official app down.

They run a site. A site and its content that was easier to access with an app. Sites and apps most commonly work together. That’s all my comment said. It wasn’t offensive in any way. No one is suggesting they are suffering. What I am suggesting is that the app was a better way to consume and find the content. The site traffic most certainly increases with better on field results. And a lot of people probably, by preference, would love the app option back to consume it more. I was offering a pretty common opinion, that I personally go to the site less often without the quick access an app provides on portable devices….which is why apps exist.

And before you offer up some other nonsense to try and find offense with. The App came with ads as well. Ads that couldn’t be blocked by an ad blocker.

and a lot of people miss the app. See this thread. Feel free to continue to feel offended at something you’ve created in your head.

My comment wasn't a shot at…

My comment wasn't a shot at the quality of the content, but the convenience of accessing it. without the app I don't find myself going to the browser and physically typing in "Mgoblog.com" to look at stuff very often. With the app it was right there in my face, and it was something I'd regularly click. Now I mostly look at the site on my computer; which typically equates to viewing it during the normal work week.

I liked the app specifically…

I liked the app specifically for the message board interactions. So I'd say the #1 feature is that you don't have to open the browser on your phone at all to go to the website. It would be like having to use Twitter by only going through the browser, I suspect my twitter usage would go down without the app as well.

It also boiled the content down into headlines so it was really easy to scroll (and search) both the message board topics AND the main posts by title.

I think this is right. They…

I think this is right. They killed the official app a while ago. Honestly, I visited the site a lot more where there was an app.

Man. How do I not remember…

Man. How do I not remember this last year? Seems I'm totally wrong. Carry on lol

This isn't true. You pay the…

This isn't true. You pay the donation first, always have, and they use that to then "offer" you tickets. I think you can payment plan the whole thing, but they still do the "donation" first to gauge interest -- IE the donation deadline you have to opt into the whole payment plan. If you don't donate, or opt into the payment plan, then they offer your tickets up to the people on the wait list.

Yeah, I haven't heard…

Yeah, I haven't heard anything yet either. Weirdly I logged onto the site this morning and under "ticket renewals" I still don't have "any ticket applications at this time". They're typically due by the end of February. But the timelines have all been different in the past few years, they haven't stuck to anything. Last year I remember being shocked at how early they sent it out after the season. Some years we heard nothing until February/march

Fire Warde.

Fire Warde.

I'd first ask what you want…

I'd first ask what you want to do on vacation. Some people would rather be out all day hiking/shopping ect., others would rather sit on the beach all week.

We rented at a nice little hotel in TC on the East Bay in front of the state park/campground that had a beachfront view, a small little beach to relax at that was private to the hotel and was close enough for a like 2 minute drive into downtown. That was fun for a few days. Mackinaw IMO is only fun for a day or two. Cool to see but you could do most of the island in a long day, certainly two days.

My preference in terms of a single great Michigan vacation up north, is to rent a cabin or Air bnb on either Huron or Michigan and just cool out on a private beach for a week.

You could also functionally do something similar on Glen Arbor and then be 20 minute away from going in and seeing Traverse City? Lots of options up there for how you do a vacation.

Also, tons of people love the camping/hiking/biking in that region as well.

What's funny is that I didn…

What's funny is that I didn't even realize I was blocked, and his content was missing, for what....9 months now? Until I clicked on the link in this post and saw I was blocked. Wondering what I could have possibly said, I searched my Twitter and sure enough...that's the last, and one of the only, things I ever replied to him with on Twitter

Chris Balas blocked me when…

Chris Balas blocked me when I replied to his Tweet about Harbaugh returning to Michigan with a screen grab of him saying Harbaugh had signed with Minnesota.

Oh, they launched the stand…

Oh, they launched the stand-alone service a few months ago.

It's an outrageous price of $20/month, or if you pay $189 up front for the entire year...$15/month

For the content you get on other streaming services for way less, it's just so over-priced. Even sports packages on streaming sites like YoutubeTV are like $10 a month.

Good. It was a really…

Good. The first thing they did was piss off casual viewers by stripping the content from most major services. It was a really terrible model to pull yourself from all the modern streaming networks and cling to cable - or - a massively expensive monthly streaming stand-alone service. I'm sure some other entity will buy those rights and actually strike a deal with the streaming services. Too much money to just be sitting out there.

I have a 247 sports…

I have a 247 sports subscription because I like the "insider" bits on practices and recruiting. But I very rarely let it fall into a full price subscription. Usually what I do is cancel it after a promotional period, and then sign back up when they're offering a new one. I don't think it's worth $15/month.

I get ESPN+ through my verizon plan, rarely ever use it. ESPN offers almost exclusively nonsense articles with no substance.

And that's about it for me. I personally hate subscription models, being nickel and dimed by every single source out there. Freep is trying to do it, DetNews is trying to do it (even if you just want to read their sports articles). If you're in it exclusively to see UM sports related news, I think 247 is the best bet. A lot of the other sources are going to contain generic fluff pieces.

I usually buy HTTV but being so late this year I'm probably not. The season will have started before I have really had time to go through it all.

I suspect the lawsuit would…

I suspect the lawsuit would be about who actually has the power to make the decision and if the UC board has the power to cancel it.

The fact that the UC board is talking about changing the rules would indicate to me that they don't feel very strongly that they have the power here, even if they're saying they do.

See, I thought I read they…

See, I thought I read they DON'T have the authority to do it because they gave it up in the 90's so teams could run their athletic departments how they chose? I guess we'll find out.

And how hilarious would it be for them to keep UCLA in a dying pac12 without USC?

Maybe it's because we rarely…

Maybe it's because we rarely have a pass heavy offense, but I always dislike the idea that big pass numbers = quality QB play. I wouldn't trade our QB's for Maryland's or Purdue's and I bet they'd give theirs up in a heartbeat for at least JJ.

Sounds like it's time to…

Sounds like it's time to fire Warde. He's done a pretty good job at replacing coaches accross a multitude of sports, but it seems he's always on the wrong side of every single one of these disciplinary issues. And this one is so clear cut to pretty much everyone.

Warde seems to be the king of turning a 1 day story into a 2 month story.

1. Generators – permits and…

1. Generators – permits and inspections. This can be done with one permit for the generator installation(s) on the site. However, if an additional generator is needed later, an additional permit and another inspection would be required. Grounding is the main concern; hence, an inspection should be scheduled prior to any start up. Furthermore, generators should be protected from the public.

2. Electrical cord coverings – to avoid trip hazards.

3. Tent Permit application – This can be done with one permit that would cover all AAPS tailgating areas – for any tents / membrane structures over 400 square feet. An inspection should be scheduled prior to the event. On November 26, 2021, there were several large tents (one specific on the north side of the lot) that were over 400 square feet and had multiple propane heaters.

4. Flammable gas storage - Excess quantities of propane and gasoline need to be stored away from overnight sleeping areas.

We got an email from the…

We got an email from the company who runs the pioneer parking. Along the concerns that prompted the RV ban were permit issues for generators and storage of flammable liquids on site. So it probably doesn’t impact UM property.

Unless they can find $50…

Unless they can find $50 million a year sitting around to give Minnesota to compensate them for leaving the B10 and the upcoming TV contract revenue, I just don't see it happening. Teams like Minnesota, Rutgers, Maryland....they're holding on for dear life to the B10 during all of this. They don't want to be on the outside looking in.

One thing to consider is the…

One thing to consider is the generator ban that Ann Arbor is putting in place for many of the tailgating sites. No gas generators. So make sure you have an alternative power source; we had to buy a Jackery for ours in order to power all this stuff this year.

I really hope Henne starts…

I really hope Henne starts over Gutierrez.

Why are we not focusing on…

Why are we not focusing on the more hard hitting questions, like....what happened to Lloyd Brady?

Right. Those are the old…

Right. Those are the old schedules prior to having to re-do them because of covid. You'll note -- Michigan State and Ohio State aren't alternating.

I don't think you'll find…

I don't think you'll find any history of a 2023 schedule being announced post covid. They just didn't, and don't, exist.

I think Sam is wrong on this…

I think Sam is wrong on this one. The future schedules got removed last year when they had to re-do everything after Covid. Once the schedule was released for this year, it was alone. There were no 2023+ schedules listed that I remember ever seeing. Umich used to have a bunch of games listed against Oklahoma and Texas and those stopped being listed on the website at that point, along with all the B10 schedules.

They may very well be making huge changes but I don't think there's any connection to schedules being "taken down".

If you read the article, it…

If you read the article, it doesn't necessarily say that. Those 21 are 21 schools that were forthcoming with the information. The problem is, they don't list the names of the schools in the other categories.

21 (listed) said they have plans in place

34 said they haven't decided

21 said no plans this year, but plans for next year (it does say 5 B10 schools are in this category)

15 said no plans

10 responded to the FOIA request with "we don't have any documentation on that matter" -- which sounds entirely like something Michigan would respond with IMO.

Lots of debate....among those named Mike Valenti

Harbaugh is under contract…

Harbaugh is under contract for another 4-5 years. So there's no timeline for this or urgency at all (unlike last year where Harbaugh had an expiring contract within a year). We could hear tomorrow, august or next year for all we know.

I thought it was kinda silly…

I thought it was kinda silly. Just roll that into the cost of the ticket. Charging $10 or $50 either way (digital vs. printed) just seemed dumb after being asked to pay the huge "donation" and ticket price all at the same time. Charging for digital copies of the tickets you just paid for, while clearly minimal compared to what we just dropped on tickets, felt petty and skeezy. Like, you're going to have me pay multiple thousands for the 4 tickets we have and then charge me $10 to get them?

Maybe?

Maybe?

No

No

It takes no time at all…

It takes no time at all. They have two people doing it. The first person checks you as you enter the door and once you're in then it's a normal ticket line.
